  1. Roy's undoubtedly a nice bloke, but when I look at his record I see something different to you. If he comes here this will be his 17th or 18th job in football. An average of around 2 years per job. There's absolutely no continuity at all. He appears to be the classic example of someone who can't cope with stress/pressure. He does well when there's no expectation. But once that expectation is there - whether it's external, or something he generates himself in his head - he walks. The few times he has stuck around, probably against his own better judgement, he crashes and burns. I might be wrong of course. He might just be the nomadic sort. Tim.
  2. They've probably been fitted with self-destruct devices.
  3. The challenger disaster is the one thing that sticks out for me. Had just come home from school and turned the TV on, only to see the shuttle blowing up 2 minutes after waking in the door. Still remember it all vividly.

  16. In pictures: The four faces of the Bengal tiger | Environment | guardian.co.uk The guardian did a great double page spread a while back with tiger pics. The online image gallery hasn't quite got the same impact. The paper had a grid of all the images. Amazing looking animals.
  17. The Settlers is another popular one. Homepage | Settlers | Ubisoft
  18. Couldn't see Goldeneye anywhere. Although the link for numbers 11-20 is broken so it might be there. No Dungeon Master, Quake, No System Shock 1/2 either unless I'm blind. No Ghouls and Ghosts. No Paradroid or StarQuake. No Bugaboo. No Outrun, Gauntlet, Lords of Midnight, Way of the Exploding Fist, Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands, New Zealand Story or Parasol Stars. No Operation Wolf. They must be creationists on that site. History only began about 10 years ago.
  19. Bah. Humbug to that list. The people who compiled that have never flicked through the pages of Zzap or Crash. Never waited on the next Ultimate, Imagine. English Software or US Gold release. Never flicked through the Mastertronic cassettes in the paper shop. And never played Defender or International Karate. I'm not sure what's worse; MPs thieving or Deus Ex at 45 and Half-Life at 43. And not even a mention of 'Elite' or utterly brillant 'The Sentinel'. Gaming heathens the lot of them.
  20. It's not an easy question to answer, because Computing is such a broad subject and it can depend on what areas - if any? - you're looking to get into. Module choices - perhaps not so much in the first year - will depend on whether you fancy writing business systems, realtime systems such as avionics used in planes, network programming etc. If you haven't done any programming before, then try and get your hands on a Java for dummies type book. That's one of the simplest general purpose languages and will give you a good idea of programming concepts. I suggest visiting the OU website. Computing | Undergraduate Courses, Degrees, Diplomas, Certificates and Qualifications - Open University They list all the modules for their degrees and suggest an order in which to do them. They have module descriptions as well - so you can compare them to the Berkley courses. Modules covering the same ground will have similar names regardless of university - certainly for the first year. The OU site will also give you a good idea of the level and type of knowledge you need to be able to cope with the degree. So that might be of use to you. From a very basic programming point of view, going by those Berkley descritions, I'd start with these : CS61A -> CS61B/CS61C. You may want to have alook around these guys as well for other online Material. Free Online Course Materials | MIT OpenCourseWare Sorry for the long winded answer. Hope it's of somehelp.
