The 44th President of the United States

http://www.thefirstpost.co.uk/?storyID=6436 There's clearly a groundswell of opinion in the USA that thinks the words "Muslim" and "terrorist" are interchangeable. I fully expect the Republicans to exploit this ill-informed bigotry and to fight dirty with it. (Remember, these are the people who took a contest between a decorated war-hero and a draft-dodging shithouse who hid behind Daddy's money.... and used the medal-winners war record against him!)

    We are rich!

This is a new one to add to that list. If you walk by a beggar in the street, you might well feel a brief twinge of guilt. But if the cunt starts shouting and bad-mouthing you, you quite rightly develop contempt for him. I hope we twat the graceless cunts.

If this really is (as it seems) nothing more than shit-stirring from the Sunday Scum, why should he dignify it with a response? (PS - Who the fuck is "Raffa"?)

    Guilt Wanks

The only time I've told a lass (just a friend, like) that she was a wank fantasy, she was quite pleased, so now I don't think there's any need to feel guilty about who you've been imagining. The gloves are off (metaphorically, at least.)

    Can't say fairer than that.

    Mid Season Review

That's been the problem in previous seasons, when the squad was nowhere near strong enough. This season, we have more options - especially in central midfield and (theoretically) up front - and for all our rotation we made it into the bleak midwinter still unbeaten.

    Beyonce' or Shakira?

... then again, we could invite them to settle it by jelly-wrestling.

    Beyonce' or Shakira?

For the first time ever, I now fancy sniffing some Charlie. I think Beyonce shades it, but I'd have to spend many, many hours staring at both of them, just to be sure.

    Mid Season Review

I'll make two predictions for this season: 1) we will again finish strongly 2) nobody on the telly will give credit to rotation

    Mid Season Review

I expected a stronger challenge, but then I didn't foresee Agger's injury (and I didn't appreciate how significant it would be) or the lack of goals from 3 out of 4 of our strikers. In the Summer, Rafa was frustrated in his attempts to sign a defender who could play at centre-back or full-back and could successfully pass to a team-mate. Just that one extra signing could have saved enough points to enable us to now be talking about a serious title challenge.

    War Film Recommendations

I just read that quote and I heard it in a Frank Sidebottom voice. Did he do the narration in that film?

    Jam and Jerusalem

It's a bit hit & miss, but it kills the time harmlessly enough. Oh, and that woman who used to play Mrs Warboys - I would.

Bolton Town vs City of Liverpool !!!!

(I can't believe I'm suggesting this, but) if she wants to do some stupidly overpriced designer shopping, take her to the Met Quarter. (This is a test - how much do you love her?)

The 44th President of the United States

Kucinich would be my choice, because of his sound policies and fit wife. I think the Dems would probably (and probably correctly) decide that Edwards would be most electable, so I think he'll most likely be the next President. (Probably the only Republican I could countenance would be McCain, because of his first-hand experience that war and torture are not, as it turns out, good things.)

    The GF book thread

I hope I don't carry the same evil mojo that you do. I'm reading More Time for Politics, the latest volume of Tony Benn's diaries. It's mad the way he's simultaneously living the life of an internationally-respected elder stateman and that of a lonely octogenarian widower - stuff like "in the morning the Iranian ambassador called round. In the afternoon I tried to fix the broken bar on my electric fire." (Also, the diary entry for 26th May 2005 had nice things to say about the Reds.)

    Worst. President. Ever.

This is a question mainly for the Americans on the Forum - but anyone can join in - Who is America's worst ever President? I'd vote for the incumbent shitwit, but I'm permanently angry when I think of his brickable Chickenhawk smirk, so I know I can't make any objective comparisons as far as he's concerned. Nixon was a crook, but (I'm told) he introduced some socially-liberal measures that would put many subsequent Democrats to shame. Warren G Harding is often considered amongst the worst - inspiring the nation with quotes like "I am not fit for this office and never should have been here." Then there was William Henry Harrison, who caught a cold at his inauguration, which developed into pleurisy and killed him, after 31 days in office. If only Dubbya had looked to "Old Tippecanoe" as a role model! Any other nominations?

I reckon GM Fraser must've read this post and got a shock. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7169047.stm

When I read that I felt like Mrs Doyle saying "Well maybe I like the misery!" Get a deep pan, about a third to half full of boiling water, with a little bit of vinegar in it. Crack an egg into a cup. Then stir the water really fast, so you get a vortexy thing going: drop the egg into the middle and it will keep some sort of shape. Then get someone else to do the washing up.

D'ya think? Meet the Oreo Pizza. Another level of wrongness - which I saw for the first time this weekend, courtesy of my brother's fiancee - is drinking a cup of the watery/milky/eggy runoff from the scrambled egg pan.

Let's keep everything crossed that he doesn't decide to go for one more war - for old time's sake - before his term expires.

Best and worst casting in films

In Baz Luhrmann's Romeo & Juliet Paul Sorvino and Brian Dennehy make cameo appearances as the heads of the Montagues and Capulets - just their screen presence gives you an idea of the history of the two families.
