  1. Agree totally. Don't forget also that his goals in 2003-4 probably helped get us a CL spot: that earned us millions. And took us to Istanbul..... I was furious with him when he left, not because of his leaving, but the way he did it. Now I just feel sorry for him. His career has been downhill since he left us: coming on regularly as a sub for Real Madrid doesn't compensate for the lost CL medal, and as for his current club...........
  2. Looks like it, doesn't it? The same way it looked like the Mancs would batter everyone - then we hammered them, Fulham beat them, and they struggle to get late winners. Who could possibly imagine Chelsea 4 Liverpool 4, or Liverpool 4 Arsenal 4? I doubt we'll do it - but the last few weeks have been so manic that anything could happen. So - NO, it's not over. Crouchie and Robbie Keane are waiting for them.
  3. 1-0 Crouchinho. Assist from Pennant. James aves a 98th minute penalty. I love fantasy football. After what I've just watched at Anfield, anything can happen.
  4. THat was my thought coming back from the match last night. Not so sure now, but wouldn't completely rule it out. Probably not, on balance but..... The idea of one of those thugs in blue putting Torres or Gerard out for the rest of the season while we chase a 3 goal win when there is still something else left to play doesn't appeal to me.
  5. You can (or could very recently) get the DVD of the '65 Cup Final separately (ie not as part of the full DVD box set). Should be able to get it easily on Amazon - don't forget to use the link from this site!
  6. Not getting at you. Still desperate for the title - but quite like the Champions League! And tonight we were superb.
  7. Wonderful game - we played superbly. And that's why we all get so cross (to say the least) when we draw or lose against dross. Because we know what we can do. If you're shit and try hard - OK, you tried. But when a team play that can play like this draws with Stoke, Hull, etc., it hurts - because we're so much better. So OK Rafa - go and win the league now. We've just beaten Real madrid 4-0; the Mancs should be easy.
  8. It's too hypothetical. If we had a different manager, our tactics would almost certainly be different AND he would be bringing his own men in. I don't say they'd be better or worse, but at the first opportunity (ie the first transfer window) he'd be bringing in new players and getting ris of others.
  9. Can't ever remember fans wanting Carragher out. 'Some of the fans...' How many? 5? 6? It's amazing the things people say to show their undying loyalty to Rafa.
  10. We can win the CL. We have probably the best manager in Europe as far as European games are concerned - it's a pity he's second rate as far as the English league is concerned.
  11. I was at the CL qualifier a couple of years ago (Toulouse, I think it was) in the lower Centenary. A couple of blokes a few rows behind me spent most of the game whinging about the lack of atmosphere. They kept this up throughout the game - why they didn't scream for the team instead of moaning about the people around them is anyone's guess. Round about halfway through the second half, I realised the whinging session had stopped. Looked around - they'd gone. Bet they beat everyone to the car park. We scored two goals after they'd gone.
  12. I think that's a David Moyes quote, usually used when whining about us. You've picked this one from Rafa, who now uses it when whining about the Mancs. Moyes is pathetic for whining on like this, and so is anyone else.
  13. (Fingers in ears) - la la la la , I'm not listening (or watching, or thinking), Rafa's a genius. FFS , when are you people going to wake up and realise: we've blown it this year. Who's in charge? Where does the buck stop? Bless them, they're all in a happy place where everything is wonderful. And in answer to the question raised so often by the Liverpool in Wonderland fans (a.k.a. Superfans) -"well, at the start of the season, where would you have accepted up being in February???" (usually said with outrage in their voices, as the Messiah is questioned) ---- How about first, you bloody halfwits?
  14. All we need is for Scum to play like us, and for us to play like Scum, and we're home and dry. It's over, then.
  15. Just seen the thread now, voted Garcia, and read the posts. Surprised nobody said Anelka earlier - I've always rated him, and I'd love to see him back. Especially now.
  16. I don't really know. For the last few years, I've debated this with a friend, who, as early as late '05, has been saying we won't win the league under Rafa. I've defended Rafa, and had faith in him. After the Barnsley game, I wanted him out, but things improved and we finished the season well: that was down to Rafa, and I looked forward to this season. This season has been wierd. We have played badly in most games, but scrambled results, and Chelsea and the Mancs have slipped up, while Arsenal seem to have faded completely. What has really done it for me isn't the bizarre team selections, mad Rafa press conferences, the Houllier-like use of match statistics to prove the opposite to what happened, it was the treatment of Robbie Keane. A top-class footballer, captain of his country (and MY country: I was born here, but am as Irish as half the lads in the national side, and I have the passport to prove it), was used as a pawn in some sort of power game between Rafa and Parry, and was treated like dirt. If we win the title - I'll have respect for Rafa as a manager, but still have none for him as a person. I said somewhere on Monday that Rafa's behaviour wasn't the Liverpool Way, it was the Real Madrid Way, and I don't like it. Subsequently, I read an excellent article by Henry Winter in the Telegraph which made the same point (Showing Robbie Keane the exit could prove costly - Telegraph). Football is a game. We want to see our team do well, ideally by playing well. I have no time for the blind loyalist, nor the ultra-cynics. I hope we win the league. But I don't like the divisions within the club that are growing under Rafa, and I don't like the way he treats people. In his article, Winter refers to Steven Gerrard wanting Rafa's praise: this seeming lack of any support almost lost us Stevie G after Istanbul. Istanbul was tremendous, not for the win, but for the fact that we regained the respect of the footballing world. For that, I thank Rafa. But I don't like what he's doing to this club, and I'm not sure that the title will make me want him to stay. Unless... unless somehow, all our players start performing together, we're all mates again, there is harmony off the field - and we start battering all our opponents out of site: the Mancs, Real Madrid, AC, Inter, Arsenal, and the little ones (West Brom, Fulham, etc.). Do that in the remaining matches, make us FUN to watch, and you're a bloody miracle worker, Rafa.
  17. 2-2 Kuyt. But we're really struggling to get to this point. We should have twatted them by now.
  18. Nah, let's go for it. We'll make sure there's plenty of collateral damage while we're at it.
  19. Just read the article before looking on the site. My thought was 'What a shitbag'. Also noted - "we've shown against the top four this season we can compete with them. We drew with Arsenal, we drew with Man Utd here and we drew with Liverpool twice at Anfield now we've beaten them here." He forgot "and we lost to Man U last week, and lost at home to Liverpool". Real Madrid game in a few weeks. What about your forthcoming fixtures, David?
  20. Problem is, mate, I don't think the people running the club (ie Rafa, Parry, the owners) have an agenda. They're just winging it - very badly. Doubt we're going to see off the Mancs. So the team that couldn't turn over Everton now has to beat Real Madrid - and probably the Mancs and God knows who else to get anything this year.
  21. Should do it. They wouldn't, but it'd show one set of fans has class. And it'd wake them up just as they've gone to sleep. Leave it for an hour or so - let them get home to Rhyl and Prestatyn first.
  22. Everton beat Liverpool - everyone logs on (to write OR read). Transfer deadline day - everyone logs on. Lack of squillions of pounds - problems. Basically, this forum is popular, and I guess the hardware can't cope. And unless we all shell out more money for a server upgrade, we'll suffer. Can't cope.... need an upgrade..... Not deliberately looking for analogies between the server and the team, but now you mention it.......
