  1. I don't know about anyone else, but I've never pulled a knife in front of a woman and told her to cut me or I'll do it myself, then proceeded to repeatedly press the knife against my skin after she's refused, to her obvious distress. Similarly, I've never smashed up a partner's apartment and a bunch of their possessions in a fit of rage. There's little dispute that either of those things happened here, and both constitute abuse, imo. As for the rest, I found her testimony far more credible than his overall. I was also struck by the fact that a number of other women seem to have suffered as well. The makeup artist, for example, was still very visibly traumatised by her experience of trying to cover the damage on Heard's face before a media appearance. It seems to me like this was simply a case of the better legal team winning, that's all. I sure as hell wouldn't be treating it as vindication for Depp on the question of whether or not he's an abuser. And the wider implications of this - women being afraid to come forward for fear of enduring an incredibly vicious public backlash and/or costly legal battle - are both utterly grim and depressing.
  2. Yeah looked absolutely top class. His tackling in particular was superb.
  3. Thought they defended well, and were excellent positionally. It seemed like almost every time the ball broke free it went to one of their lads, especially in the box. The gormless looking twat in net had a really good game, too. We weren't great, but it wasn't the worst performance. Get the sense we've been running on fumes for a couple of months now, which I suppose isn't surprising. Hugely disappointing end to the season, all in all.
  4. Hopefully it's just a fitness/confidence thing. If he starts next season in the same vein it'll be a bit of a concern, though.
  5. The Innocents - unsettling, and occasionally quite moving film about a group of Norwegian children who discover they have supernatural powers and go on to use them for both good and bad. Very bad, in some instances. 8.5/10.
  6. The clock's ticking on a lot of this shit, I reckon. The flag waving bollocks will only paper over the cracks for so long, especially with things as bad as they are.
  7. Enjoying Under The Banner of Heaven, a mini series based on the true story of two grisly murders linked to LDS fundamentalism. Andrew Garfield is excellent as the conflicted lead detective, as is the guy who plays his partner. Worth a watch if you were a True Detective fan.
  8. It's actually quite impressive that he still managed to be so successful at the elite level given he was never the most gifted athlete, and didn't look after himself properly, either.
  9. Probably already been said but I think he's been pretty unlucky with his finishing so far; either hitting the post/going just wide, or drawing a good save out of the 'keeper. Reminds me a bit of Suarez's first half season. Anyway, I reckon he'll start banging 'em in next year.
  10. And after you've finished paying that off, you can start saving for a house that's roughly eight times the average UK salary. Incredible country.
  11. X - spiteful old weirdos, full of seething resentment stoked by reactionary horseshit in the media, take it all out on young folk in the cruelest ways possible. Very much an allegory for our times. Concept 8/10; execution 7/10.
  12. Those little body swerves. Sensational.
  13. Definitely out of form, but doesn't look as if he's stopped caring to me. He usually has a little dip around this stage of the season. I don't think it's anything more than that.
  14. Denver’s Program to Dispatch Mental Health Teams Instead of Police is So Successful it is Expanding 5-Fold https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/denver-star-program-expands-in-2022/
  15. Kind of impressive to spend so much and not have a major trophy to show for it. They're the Montgomery Brewster of football clubs.
  16. It does appear to be an absolutely epic blunder. Also notable that he's had to ban Facebook, there, too, which kinda suggests his much vaunted powers of social media manipulation aren't quite as effective as they were cracked up to be.
  17. It does seem like that, doesn't it? I read somewhere recently that he'd only taken advice from a very small number of people before going in.
  18. Just catching up on some fights, and my word what a chin Dober has. Incredible, figuratively and literally.
  19. Graham Linehan needs some fucking help, man. He's gonna do himself/someone else a mischief at some point.
  20. Hopefully, but no idea what the opinion of him is generally amongst the fans/owners.
  21. Heard somewhere that he was more likely to stay if he didn't win the CL, as that's the goal he's set himself there.
