  1. The things is are they taking a considered approach? We have no idea as they are saying nothing and as yet we don't know their motives. I've said this a few times but everyone seems very quick to assume they are ideal owners for us when as yet we have no idea and all that's happened is they have made the right noises which anyone with a tiny bit of PR savvy would be able to do. I'll be forming my opinion based on actions rather than words and this for me is their first test. It won't be the sole basis of my opinion of them but I will be disgusted if Hodgson leads us out on Sunday. They may ultimately get this right but I think the longer Hodgson remains manager the more open to questions they will become and rightly so.
  2. What's all this shite about match going fans and internet fans? I am a season ticket holder that engages in internet debate and there's many others on here who are in the same boat as well. As for Rafa, personally I think he would do a good job for us if he came back over a period of time. He'd have had 6 months to think over the mistakes he made and what he would do differently and I believe he would be the right man to make the brave decisions that will need to be made over several players at the club and whether they will ever re-produce the peak form we saw from them. I would definitely consider him lower risk than many other people being touted for the job. Having said that there is a significant enough number who would oppose the appointment and jump on him at the first opportunity. We would need quick success or the arguments in the ground would start which in turn could feed onto the pitch. In many ways I think the ideal appointment would be a Rafa who doesn't have all the water under the bridge. Somebody with a vision who would unite the fanbase. I clicked yes but only because I can't think of anyone who I am certain would do a better job that would be available. I think that this is the only criteria we should look at and believe any other likely appointment would be a roll of the dice as to our medium term future.
  3. He was never suited to them anyway. He's probably on a plane to Spain now to replace Pep.
  4. From previous quotes I know that you are keen for the team to progress young talent to the first team in a similar manner to what has happened at Arsenal. One of the reasons given for this not happening often enough in recent years is that the reserve and youth teams play with a different tactical set-up. With this currently being the case what role will Damien Comolli play in setting the tactics played by both the first team and the teams at other levels? And in relation to developing these young players do you think that a manager who is on record as having a mistrust of the ability of young players to produce results is the right man to develop this environment at Liverpool?
  5. I wouldn't swap it for a Premiership title either to be honest. In 50 years' time that final will be talked about by people outside the club as well as within it in the same way Real Madrid at Hampden Park is now. No individual Premier League title from this time will be and certainly not our treble in 2001 no matter how great it was.
  6. My lasting memory of him was just before Gerrard's wonder goal in 2006. 3-2 down in the last minute of the cup final going down injured when actually he was ok and wasting time about 2 yards away from the touchline when he could easily have crossed it. It's strange that if he hadn't done that we would almost certainly have lost but I was totally disgusted with him at that moment and that disgust has never gone away.
  7. The only way I can see that happening would be if NESV's strategy is minimum investment on the squad with an eye on selling for a huge profit in a couple more years once any stadium work has been done. I understand that such a scenario is not worth panicking about as they could equally end up being good owners but I would say that the level of good will shown so far from many people is beyond the cautious welcome being spoken about a couple of months ago. I understand the cause of that is the demise and humiliation of the other cunts but I think we would be foolish to just assume NESV are going to do the right thing by us just because they say they will. We have been there before after all and only when I have seen them consistently act in the correct way will I believe it.
  8. I thought he did very well but did tire significantly late on. I think he had cramp around the 70 minute mark and was easily beaten on a few occasion afterwards. The stamina will come with games and time though and he looks a great prospect.
  9. They need to leak some stories to keep their fans thinking they will be spending money. One of the lads I work with keeps going on about this 160 million that's still in their transfer fund that they haven't spent due to inflated transfer fees and I'm sure the Rooney money will go on top of that. They are totally oblivious to the fact that most of this money will be going on interest payments. They really are fucked.
  10. Tom, George I hope you look back at this day and learn from your mistakes in your next business venture. That Big Issue might look like its worth a pound but if you shit on it and start abusing everybody walking past you down the street it's not going to pay for your cup of tea. No matter how much Forbes might think it's worth.
  11. Agreed. My relief is at the end of Hicks and Gillett not at the arrival of Henry. Hopefully he will do well by us but only when he has I will be convinced.
  12. I don't want them to go under and I think if they had been in the situation we are right now I would have wanted them to succeed over people who just have greed at heart. Having said that the Mancs that I work with who are regular match goers have taken so much delight in our situation that I really hope they sink to the depths we have before they win their battle and that it damages their team for a long, long time. There also seems to be a complete ignorance that this could happen to them too when it is a very definite possibility.
  13. I have to admit to being an SOS skeptic in the past but have been impressed by the organisation of the march and in getting fan voices heard lately. There's still a long way until we know whether we will get what we want but keep up the good work and making the right noises.
  14. I don't know what to think with this to be honest. My first reaction was relief that this could be over but then the realisation hit that it still isn't by a long way. I'm also reading lots of positive things about the potential new owners but seeing nothing to suggest that people aren't just looking on the bright side purely because they're not who we have now. Last time we were sold people were quick to point out how Hicks had paid out on big transfers in the past so dwelling on the wage bills and ignoring the stories of financial troubles and huge ticket price hikes is ridiculously naive bearing in mind what we've had to go through.

  18. I'm going to throw something out there that might seem a bit simplistic but I think it's true. We were as bad as this at the start of last season too. Last August against Sunderland, Villa, Boro and Liege we were truly awful and despite picking up results I had no expectations because we had been lucky. This time instead of the deflected Jamie Carragher shot against Boro we've had Lucas's own goal last night and instead of Torres scoring a screamer against Sunderland we've had Assou-Ekotto scoring one against us. We'll have good spells this season but we've got an absolute mountain to climb already. The questions for me are who devised the pre-season plans and why are we unready for the season to start for the second time running because someone has seriously fucked up.
  19. Leeds had the players. At the moment we have no money to spend except from player sales and that's with a decent Champions League run. Take a look at our weak squad and then consider that in the next three to four years the following starting players will need to be replaced due to their age: Carragher Gerrard Benayoun Kuyt Aurelio In the absence of any decent youngsters coming through where is the money coming from to replace them. Selling Torres? There is no doubt in my mind that if the two current owners are still in charge at that stage then the level of player we are looking at on our bench will be the level of player in our starting eleven. It really is no exaggeration to say that we could be the next big team to fall apart.
