  1. I've never cheated on it. When I was a student I remember taking Tranmere to the Champions League final and losing on pens to Roma but still taking it. We never did win that trophy.
  2. What a player. Took a bit of time to settle properly but since Christmas he's been consistently one of the best players on the pitch. Absolutely brilliant signing.
  3. I don't know a lot about him so took a read through a Sporting forum to see what was being said. He's very popular and there's lots of references to leadership and charisma which are obviously two big things we'll be losing. On the flip side, there's several people commented on how little he trusts youth and pretty much ignores their academy. To the extent of naming a full bench of defenders during an attacking injury crisis and not one attacking academy player. There's a lot of surprise and disappointment that we might want him. Can't get excited either way on him to be honest. He's as big a gamble as anyone else on the list. Have to see what happens.
  4. He's on record even recently saying he loves Chelsea and Liverpool equally to the point he finds it hard to watch when we play them. He's also talked about how fantastic their fans are and how good they were to him even though his best football wasn't there. How he loved his time there because they gave him the trophies he wanted. He regrets nothing.
  5. I'm not saying their styles are similar. Just pointing out that if the justification for saying he's good enough is that his players and some other managers rate him then it doesn't stack up as a good enough reason. I don't really see anything about him or his record that makes him stand out as being what we need.
  6. Ljinders for me. Every single candidate is a gamble. At least with Ljinders we should see consistency in the links to the academy and the style of play. He'll also know the strengths and weakness in the squad too. The biggest danger is someone coming In and ripping everything up.
  7. The same debate about being well thought of in the game was used to justify Hodgson. Gerrard and Carragher also wanted Curbishley back in 2004. Players don't know everything and managers often throw around platitudes about other managers (especially about those they get the better of and pretty much every one playing a low block and counter gets the better of him). He's won 6 out of the last 22 league games with a set of players who should be doing far better and a lot of the reason for it is that they're constantly wide open to the counter. They get pasted by shit teams regularly and even Brighton's fans aren't too worried about losing him. It's a massive no from me.
  8. I think it was a good 18 months he downed tools for. He was good for us for two seasons but I have no time for him at all. It was a one sided love affair. When he left for Chelsea he was quick to laud his move to a 'bigger club' and he's on record in recent years to say his love for the two clubs is equal. I just feel totally cold towards him. He never got what the club was about.
  9. I'd imagine they take better care of their growlers than she does.
  10. Their net tranfer spend in that time is pretty sizeable. It's something like 300 million over the last 5 years. Their story wouldn't have been possible but for initial investment from a Russian billionaire.
  11. She popped up on a dating app I was using once. Her profile said she doesn't like bald men though so sadly it wasn't to be.
  12. I don't see that. Away games v City, Spurs and United aren't easy. Even their other two aways are banana skin games (Brighton and Wolves). Their home games look winnable but Chelsea could turn up on their day.
  13. I doubt he's in the dressing room before the game talking about respect. If anything a big part of why we lost yesterday was being too cavalier in the wrong moments, losing the ball and being countered on. Something we've cut out a bit this season but saved for this one. It was game management (and cutting edge) that we lacked rather than being too respectful. We made bad decisions too often.
  14. We were taking pot shots from all over the place. It's the sort of stat you see when a team gets impatient playing against a low block and starts making wrong decisions.
  15. Klopp needs one more trophy to match Everton's total of 8 since world war 2.
  16. Their fans caused a load of trouble in town when they played Everton a few years back too.
  17. Could do with them staying in the Europa League. They'll rest a few if they have a semi final coming up the game after.
  18. You may end up being right. They're playing really well but I think their ability to deliver under pressure is still a big question on them and their run around Christmas where they blew up a bit makes me think when it really counts they may feel the pressure. We'll find out I suppose!
  19. They had more points this time last season.
  20. Maybe but we can smash Sheffield United too and I just can't see them winning all their games.
  21. It's a big ask but 9 victories and no fucker is stopping us winning this. On the pen at the end I didn't think VAR would ever over-rule that either way (if it had been given it would have stood) Fuck it though. This league is ours to win.
  22. The only result tomorrow that doesn't leave Arsenal under heavy pressure going to the Etihad is a draw. They've been playing brilliantly but the big tests of their mental strength are ahead.
  23. Next season might a better one for them go actually. Make them open their new stadium in the championship at home to Rotherham or Plymouth or someone like that.
