Do you not think that if we had won in Athens and got number 6, then you may be feeling a tad happier. When you go on holiday(especially to a pro Kid resort like Mark Warner), the last thing on your mind is that one of your Kids is going to be abducted. Anyone who has taken Kids to Butlins will know that you can register your Kid for Child Listening service. This involves leaving your Kids in the Chalet and you register where you going to be. Security comes round about every 20 minutes and if there is a noise, then you are contacted. This was common place unto the late eighties but as I have not been since then, I cannot verify whther that practice still goes on, but does that make me a worse parent than your so called perfect parent ? Does it fuck! They have been unlucky and good luck to them for using whatever means possible to try and keep this in the media. Their background and current status is irrelevant. Their Child has been abducted. Surely even you can see what heartbreak this is causing ? The problem with the present society is that everybody is more interested in fault attribution and perhaps we could be asking is why does some scumbag want to abduct a little 4 year old ? As for the Portuguese Police, just think that if a sim ilar abduction took place in say Skegness, would the Lincolnshire Police have the knowhow to deal with such a problem? I think not, and as the Algarve is miles away from Lisbon, this has been one of the problems. Tourist areas rarely have the expertise in Policing for matters such as child abduction. The first 24 hours are important and the Police did not have the manpower or expertise to deal with the problem. As I said, there for the Grace of God Go I !

In 2005, we got UEFA out of a hole by supplying the supporting cast for a truelly great occasion. Whilst over there, we put up with being shipped into a third world airport whilst the fashion freaks from Milan were treated like kings, we put up with a three hour coach journey whilst Milan Fans were bussed a tad quicker.We got nothing but praise from the Turkish Authorities and probably invested some much needed moola into the Istanbul Hotel and Brewing Industries.We have all done our 'mea culpas' since Athens but enough is enough.Well done Mr Barrett!

The debate for the return of terracing, should be called safe standing areas as nobody is suggesting for one moment that we put the clock back to the terraces of 1980's. There are plenty of examples in German Stadia of Safe Standing Areas which can convert to seated areas . I think that is what most people who are joining the debate would like to see(if they are pro Standing). I for one welcome the debate but I doubt whether Governments, Police et al would ever allow it in this country.

Good post. The major problem is that it is very difficult to sterotype the scum. I was in a bar after the game and talking to 4 forty somethings who had all gone to the game and got in with just one legitimate ticket. These were not 4 pissed up males but two men and two women who probably, you would have thought, should have known better.

I'd say spot on for showing remorse but you should have not have been there in the first place . I arrived nearly three hours before the start and at one stage I was a tad frightened. This is somebody who has experienced the thrill of being in the middle of a swaying Kop.The whole thing looked like it was about to kick off and bell ends who either went there with the intention of getting in without a ticket or those who knowingly had forged tickets should all look at themselves and think about their actions. When I finally got to my seat there were two lads there. Basically, I told them to fuck off and thankfully they did. All around me, it was obvious that there were more fans than seats.That means, legitimate fans after having to go through hell through the cordons then had to argue with people to get out of their seats. Not on at all! There has been too much bragging about jibbing into grounds on forums. If you cant get a ticket, then stay away. We lost a lot of the moral high ground with the behaviour of some of our fans and me and my mate actually thought after the game, that enough is enough with this club. In conclusion, I would also say that if we had won, then we would hardly be mentioning this, which is kind of sad in itself.

Rushian, Lonsdale allowed people with 5 credits to get a package with a ticket about a week before the game. I was one of them.
