  1. What a rubbish fee, when you see championship defenders going for £5m and we get £3.5m for an international for the possibly the worlds best international side.
  2. Rafa has played a blinder if Xabi insists on going and we get £30m, if we get the £24m madrid wanted to play, we wasted out time the past few weeks
  3. Isn't there something about exceptions being made for exceptional talents. Which I could understand if it's someone from Brazil or Argentina not for Senegal in Dioufs case
  4. Marca says it's independent of their chase for Alonso, and given Pellegrini comments today, I tend to agree with them
  5. According to Tony Barret we're not, Liverpool Echo.co.uk - Liverpool FC - News - Dirk Kuyt says Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano must stay - Liverpool FC latest
  6. Spurs racked up some pretty big wins in preseaon last year, come the first game of the season, they were hockeyed by Sunderland. This year we're playing in front of big crowds, I'm sure they'll be more beneficial to us, especially the younger lads
  7. There is no way madrid are offering 22m and Sneijder, they paid around 20m for him and barring last year when he was injured a lot he has been a success there, that would value Alonso at around 40m.
  8. Will these be shown on Setanta Ireland or Setanta Sports 1 as Setanta Ireland is free on NTL?
  9. Has anyone actually heard another club has come in for Tevez on talksport or was it just what was posted on RAWK?
  10. I'm sure they know there is no positive pr they can spin, they're hoping come the start of the season this is all forgotten about. How can they spin the fact that we are profitable yet still can't service the huge debt we're burdened with for the privilige of those twats owning us and the only way they can service the debt is building a stadium that is just not going to happen
  11. But if Alonso doesn't say he wants to leave how can it be spun that he is engineering the move?
  12. I think it's positive news, can't see Alonso angling for a move if he has the backing of the manager, hopefully the full interview will give a bit more detail
  13. But Chelsea played with 10 men behind the ball for most of the two legs, united won't and can't play that way. Don't know who they're rb is going to be but having sylvinho up against ronaldo worries me
  14. If Sami leaves, I wonder who'll be the fourth choice next year, I hope Kelly or San Jose are promoted rather then wasting money on some stop gap measure
  15. No Puyol and Marquez likely to be out, given the way Drogba throws himself to the ground, you'd fear for Barca at set pieces
  16. What's he doing talking about us when he has a game against Everton at the weekend, is that not the same thing he said about us and Chelsea
  17. But that's as a percentage of goals conceded, I think United was second with 45% and Chelsea fourth ( can't remember they're percentage ), so merely highlights how good we are at defending from open play and perhaps how if the delivery/runs are right very little even the top teams can do about it
  18. I think Tim Vickery said on the bbc world footbal podcast that he was on loan to some Uruguayan club from boca as a result of a serious drink problem, so I think we can rule out Rafa making a move for him
  19. They always have the full studio part on the rte website tomorrow but I'm not sure if it's ip limited to ireland
  20. I don't think we would be changing the way we play to accomodate him, he'd play in Kuyts role. I think him or Podolski would be ideal, players that can break down packed defenses. Both of these seem cheaper options than top class wingers so hopefully there's some legs in it. But I can't see it happening though, in reality all we can hope for is Masch is signed
  21. I'd imagine it's a windup, the source link seems to make no mention of the story, have to agree that the failure to sign up masch highlights what a mess were in and how these cowboys are taking us for a ride
  22. I wouldn't be surprised if Dion Fanning was a red. He tends to be quite pro liverpool in the articles he writes. Around the Gerrard/Chelsea saga in the summer, he wrote about how Gerrard would be wrong to leave and what better proof could he want that Liverpool were going in the right direction under Benitez than winning the champions league in his first year
  23. The failure to address the obvious shortcomings in our squad over the summer has to be a major factor. The lack of a goal scorer has to affect the rest of the teams confidence as some decent performances earlier on in the season could of seen us go on a decent run if we could converted some of the chances we were creating.
