  1. Hot, straight from the frying pan, obviously.
  2. Jorg Schmadtke, who? He gets no respect. Slaps the money down, what will he do next? Gazumped Chelsea bad, Brighton's a nice place. Aye, Sch-madtke's ace.
  3. I love - fucking love - optimist Paul.
  4. The wife and young un are going away with the in-laws on Friday; it'll be just me and the dog for a week. I've taken a day off this week and next to enjoy some time to myself. I love them but it this is absolutely essential selfish time for some gardening, dog walks to the pub and watching the unmentionable. Bliss.
  5. Lana Del Ray's version of YNWA was on the radio the day after my daughter was born and now I can't hear it without sobbing. That, and the end of LotR when Frodo gets on the boat. Fuck off, you're crying.
  6. Shame because I'd have been taking a green and brown pair of desert boots at that price.
  7. The missus bought me a pair of these for Christmas, they're ace.
  8. Seems too good to be true! Is that a legit website as when I go through clarks.co.uk they're full price:
  9. Beckham-esque petulance from James that'll cost her team. Nigeria have already been much the better side, England look knackered here but the coach should have made changes way sooner.
  10. It is mate, that's where I've been watching it.
  11. Has anyone watched 'The US and the Holocaust ' on the BBC? It's an astonishing piece of filmmaking, showing America's response to the atrocities of the Nazis. It gives some extraordinary context and insight, and highlights the hypocrisy/cognitive dissonance in American attitudes to immigration. It's one of the most compelling and moving things I've ever watched.
  12. I bought a Denon hi-fi from Richer Sounds in 2010 and it's still going strong: https://www.richersounds.com/denon-dm41-dab-blk.html I paid about £400 at the time with some speakers and have since added a Rega record player. It's very good for an entry-level system, I'd love to upgrade to something beefier but we don't really have the space or the money to do it properly right now.
  13. Urban44, a small café in Hessle on the outskirts of Hull; £8.75 for the brekkie, drinks extra. Overall very good with a couple of areas for improvement: - Sausage: decent quality but a little dry and only one, admittedly it was quite substantial but I want two. - Eggs: poached?! I wasn't asked how I wanted them and assumed they would be fried. They were excellently poached, mind. Otherwise, decent. The bacon was smoked and well cooked, I don't mind tinnes tomatoes and these were at least seasoned well. +1 for beans. 7.5/10
  14. I enjoyed your letter to the Guardian too: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2023/jul/21/why-uk-holiday-destinations-are-going-to-the-dogs
  15. You're not interested in the history of Albania, you just want to make fuck with Albanian women.
  16. Really sorry to hear this mate, my parents are the same age and the thought of them not being around is enough to make me tear up. I've listened to a few podcasts about 'grief' (I think I posted about it here) and if you're so inclined then I'd give Griefcast a listen. Cariad Lloyd talks - and invites others to talk - about death and grief so openly and refreshingly. I think what I've learned is that grief is totally normal but also absolutely not. There's no single way to grieve, you'll never fully get over it but you'll learn to live with it. Much love Cain.
