Watching the game I was wondering when the mails would come in having a go at Gerrard...problem is that he is our only decent midfielder and having to put in mom performances every game in the eyes of some. Ask yourself this does keano play out of his skin every game?...what about Viera???...fact is we are so poor in midfield it becomes very noticeable when Stevie has a quiet game.

He just seems so lost at times, I feel that the pace of the prem is too much for him, he could possibly do well in a league where the pace is slower...doesn't hide the fact that he needs to go

UTM , they were my thoughts, more or less, as I sat and watched last night over here.A few names that came to mind were Niemi/Green for GK , Routledge ( pos. pre agreement) and Wayne Bridge (big if there) couldn't think of a CB that would fit the bill but the other 3 would balance us out nicely IMO. My last thought however was were would we get the cash as it appears there is nothing to go around right now!!!

I never really thought we looked like we were gonna score TBH. I felt we lacked width throughout the game and we looked overrun in mf for large portions of the game. We really need to look at finding a decent relaible keeper, Niemi could be bought for the right bid, possibly Robert Green??. Pellegrino seems to lack pace and will probably do us until the end of the season but a quick strong centerback should also be a priority in the summer.

NP I think that playing for your country if selected is not optional these days with the FIFA rulings. Right now we wouldn't be sitting with a striker problem if Milan had pulled out of a meaningless friendly. I thought Harry worked hard on Sunday (check the number of times he covered Riise) I did howver say to my son that I felt that he just wasn't good enough for us. can't agree with you there Gav, I thought the ref had a decent game. One of the best I've seen this season. As for the penalty I've seen them given but mostly I've seen that type not given ( unless it's at OT and a flying pig is involved!!) Yep you are correct that Viera shoulda got a second yellow but I guess the ref thought that given the occassion it was not worth a sending off- that's debatable.
