PODCAST: Liverpool 2 Burnley 0 - Match Reaction

Nearly a year and a half away from Anfield, a title won and awarded behind closed doors and a season of injury and disappointment to follow… some might say Saturday’s match against Burnley was something all Reds had been desperate for. Well, they’d be right!

TLW Editor Dave Usher is joined by TLW regulars Paul Natton and Julian Richards to discuss all the major talking points of the big return including a thoroughly professional win, two full PL debuts and another potential new dawn for Liverpool’s ultimate marmite midfielder.

Warning: not for children or Evertonians.

Loved again including Everton in the lesser games that Robbo could be rested.

Just checked Jota's scoring record. It looks a 1 in 2 on paper but 7 of his 19 appearances last season were off the bench and he rarely finishes the 90. His goals to minutes is superb. He has scored a goal every 114 minutes in the PL - 1 every 119 minutes in all competitions.

It's good but you boys are getting ahead of yourselves a bit. Played two crap teams so far and Burnley cut through us a few times.

We don't have a squad left really now, so it's not going to take much to derail the season. One or two attacking injuries over Christmas and New Years and we will be in bad trouble again

It was very good until the comment that “Jota got ahead of Mee for the cross” and I thought to myself “Don’t you fucking dare”. But DaveU couldn’t control himself and cracked the pathetic gag and I was left with no other option then to unsubscribe from the podcast, cancel my phone contract, and smash the phone.

1/10 (8/10 up to the Mee shambles)

100% you laughed. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar.

I giggled and shook my head at the same time. It was just 100% Dave Usher wasn’t it?

The disdain in Paul’s voice was so good.

The only laugh I did was one like that laugh Sami Hyypia used to do when a ref gave a decision against him. A derisory, disgusted, semi-snort of reflected shame.
