PODCAST: Bournemouth 0 Liverpool 4 - Match Reaction

Nunez! Nunez! The Reds recorded what feels like a statement victory in a tricky fixture as Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota put Bournemouth to the sword in a ruthless second half showing.

Chris Smith is joined by Ian Brown, Julian Richards and TLW Editor Dave Usher to bask in the glow of a big performance from the lads that extended the lead at the top of the table to five points.

With Jules on the Diaz thing, we should have put the ball out. Even if it's a signal from the coaches there.

Not sure it made much difference, but there would be a different pressure on the VAR closer to the incident.

Does feel like they've been directed a bit differently now. The rule is that potential reds should be reviewed, but they only seem to make a red or not call, no middle ground. See also the Calvert-Lewin one when they went too far the other way. Should be able to say that on review it's a yellow and a clear mistake that it was missed.

Should be able to sack it all off too, mind.

Good discussion.  I think a big reason why we’re a second half team is that we pace ourselves as if it’s a 5K race whereas most of our opponents start as if it’s a 1500 metres and gradually drop off.

Loved it at the end of Chris saying he sounded like a jumpers for goalposts nobhead you can just faintly hear ‘Marvelous’ in the background.

Made me proper laugh out loud.

There were times yesterday where I was so angry about that blatant red card that I was forgetting just how good a performance that second half was. I thought we were too passive and circumspect in the first half but we flew through the gears in the second and they didn't ever get close to us.

What made a nice change to me was that I was never worried we were going to concede. Not for one moment was I worried we were going to let it slip when we got in front. That first goal is so important - when we get it, it means we dictate everything and we have gone back to being a crushing machine when we do. Just don't concede first and needlessly chase games - it makes such a big difference when we do.

Nice and dominant performance on the pitch,, followed by an optimistic podcast, love it!

I liked that there were four people on as well, gave a broader view and possibly even better discussion (and banter) than usual. I'll add one minor caveat... I'm probably showing my age here, but it would be awesome if you had some sort of signal when to jump in, so that you're not intterupting each other...

Noted on the interruptions. I can definitely be better on shutting up when someone else is talking. I suppose when you do add the fourth person to get that broader view and better camaraderie, the additional interruptions are inevitable. I noticed there was a little more than usual when I listened back today, but we were all pretty excitable after the big win.

I do it a lot and before every pod I tell myself to be mindful of it, but it's hard, especially as the pods when there are no interruptions and everyone is waiting their turn to speak just don't flow very well. When mates are talking shit about the game interruptions are part of the conversation, which essentially is what this is. We're just having a chat about what we've seen. That said, there is a happy medium to be found though, definitely, and it is more prevelant when there's four of us.

I'd probably say Chris does it the least though, which isn't an easy thing when you're hosting.

Unfortunately, it's easy to accidentally talk over each other because there's no queueing system. In the software we use, there's no facility to raise your hand to talk next which would be a really good addition.

I actually don't mind the interruptions. There is more ebb and flow to the TLW pods rather than the dullness of other pods which are more structured. The main thing is you guys are not shouting at the top of your voices over each other, which is what happens often with other fan-led media.

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have even mentioned it, as the pros of having a group of lads enjoying each others company talking freely definitely outweigh the cons of those interruptions. Was just a minor, minor annoyance this time out. On the last point, tearing my hair out when my boys are listening to the latest Youtube/pod where everyone are screaming their lungs out.

You definitely should have mentioned it. Always open to feedback on what could make the show better.

Nah, you’re right to mention it. I brought up a good while ago too. I get the argument that it’s blokes talking like it’s the pub, but it can’t be fully like that. There has to be a level of control as unlike the pub, we listeners don’t get to interject. It can be very frustrating when someone is making an interesting point and then gets talked over and the point is lost. A certain amount of butting in is ok, but there was a point in this pod where all 4 were taking at once and it was a but annoying. So no harm mentioning as while it is the TLW pod with a small group of presenters, I think us long standing members of the forum feel a bit of reflected ownership of it. I tell anyone that’s even half interested in Liverpool football club to listen to it, so I think it’s ok to critique it every now and then.
