Premier League Round Up (Feb 4-4 2017)

While our bunch of fucking gutless cowards were inflicting more misery upon us by losing at Hull, the rest of the big boys continued picking up points. Except Arsenal of course, it was another miserable weekend for them. They’re almost as spineless as our lot.

Chelsea made short work of them at Stamford Bridge, although their opening goal was somewhat dubious as Alonso went right through Bellerin’s face with his elbow to head the ball in.

The Arsenal Fan TV crew had been steaming at Wenger playing Gabriel over Bellerin in their midweek loss to Watford. The Spaniard was back against Chelsea but Gabriel would have won that header. Maybe Arsene knows something after all?

Love how loads of people are just dismissing the notion that it was a foul though, presumably just because they want to push the “Arsenal are soft” narrative. Arsenal are soft, but that was a fucking foul all day. The angle behind the goal shows Alonso’s elbow hit Bellerin square on the jaw before he made contact with the ball. Since when has that not been a foul?

I can understand the ref not spotting it in real time, but if you’ve seen the angle from behind the goal and still say it’s not a foul, have a word with yourself because chances are you’re only saying that because it’s Arsenal and “they don’t like it up em”. To add insult to injury, Bellerin didn’t know what day it was and had to be subbed.

If Arsenal can consider themselves a little unfortunate on the opener, their defending on Chelsea’s second goal was so fucking weak it was just like watching us. Koscielny should have fouled Hazard but didn’t. Cocquelin should have fouled him two or three times but he actually did everything possible to avoid it and ended up embarrassing himself by falling over and letting Hazard run through to score.

Fabregas came off the bench to make it 3-0 after a howler by Cech, who was ropey as fuck all day. Of course Giroud then came off the bench to grab his now customary stoppage time goal, but it was a terrible day for the Gunners, and especially for my boy “Club Shop Ty” who had his hat robbed by some bullying cunt. Look at how upset the little fella was, it’s heartbreaking.

Everton are closing in fast on us now and have moved to within six points after spanking Bournemouth at the Pit. Lukaku was completely unplayable and ended up with four goals and an assist in a 6-3 win. He’s got 16 goals this season but hey, he doesn't run as much as Firmino so we win.

Breeze block head Barkley scored the sixth goal and was celebrating before he even put it in the net. I’ve seen some criticism of him for that but I love that kind of thing. The only criticism I’d give him is he didn’t go far enough as he should have dribbled it up to the goal line and then dropped to his knees and headed it in.

Spurs played pretty well against Boro but had to wait a long time to take the lead through a Kane penalty. It was a good pen and would probably have gone in regardless of whether Valdes went the right way or not, but his whole body shape telegraphed where he was putting it and I can’t understand why Valdes dived the other way. It’s almost as though he’d decided before the game what he was going to do if there was a pen. So many keepers are fucking dismal when it comes to penalties.

Boro did nothing throughout but should have equalised with the last kick of the game when Negredo set up De Roon but he completely bottled it. He should come and play for us or Arsenal, he’d fit right in.

The biggest shock of the weekend was Sunderland absolutely spanking Palace at Selhurst. What the fuck was that all about? It was hilarious actually, Fat Sam came out and was dancing with the Palace mascot just before kick off. By half time his team were 4-0 down and the fans were either going home or furiously singing ‘You’re not fit to wear the shirt” to the players or in one angry fellas case getting arrested for trying to get at Damian Delaney.

Palace are back in trouble and how shitty must you feel if you’re Patrick Van Aanholt, who just swapped Sunderland for Palace and within a week is getting walloped by his old team? Be dead funny if Sunderland stay up at Palace’s expense.

Moyes > Allardyce

Elsewhere, Southampton’s new signing Manolo Gabbiadini gave them an early lead against West Ham with a brilliant strike, but big Andy levelled soon after with a cool finish. Further goals from Obiang and Noble wrapped up a comfortable away win for the Hammers as Fonte enjoyed his return to St Mary's. Southampton have been mostly shit recently, but still beat us twice.

James Morrison got the only goal as West Brom beat Stoke in the “Pulis Bowl”. West Brom fans booed the shit out of Berahino when he came on as sub. Why was that? I’m not judging them, they might have their reasons, I’m just curious as to what they are. Because he failed a drugs test or is there more to it?

Pulis and Hughes didn’t shake hands afterwards. Pulis said Hughes walked away from him. Hughes said he was stood there and Pulis didn’t come over, and that he didn’t shake hands before the game either. Hughes also said that as he was the visitor, the onus was on Pulis to come and welcome him, which is a fair point. They’re both knobheads but the TV footage supports Hughes’ version of events.

Did you know that Jake Livermore went for £10m this window? Christ, if ever a transfer summed up how crazy the market has gone then that’s it. Does anybody even know what type of player he is? I know he’s a midfielder but I can’t ever remember noticing him in any game he’s played. He’s just there, I don’t know what he does. Ten million quid??? Fucking hell.

Burnley had Jeff Hendricks sent off as they were beaten at Watford. Deeney opened the scoring and new signing Niang headed in a second. An Ashley Barnes pen gave Burnley hope but Watford held on, meaning Burnley still have only one point away from Turf Moor this season. Niang was excellent and looks like he’ll give them far more than Ighalo was bringing to the table.

Onto Sunday now, which was just shit but entirely predictable. Both manc teams won which put City three points ahead of us and United one point behind. We won’t be above City again at any point this season now, while there’s every chance we’re only going to be above United for another couple of days.

City needed a late, controversial winner to beat Swansea, but unlike us they did beat Swansea, unlike us. They did it thanks to a player they signed in January too. Seems they didn’t they get the memo about there not being anybody out there in the winter window. Fucking amateurs.

United won convincingly at Leicester but Mata should have been sent off at 0-0. To his credit, he even admitted afterwards he was lucky, which is more than his cunt manager ever would. Yet another decision that’s gone their way, yet their cunt manager continues with the “hard done by” narrative. The referee who didn’t send him off? Manchester’s own Anthony Taylor.

They took full advantage with two goals in a minute from Mkhitaryan and Ibrahimovic just before half time, and Mata added a third after the break. It’s not looking good for Leicester right now but they play us soon so all is not lost for them just yet.

Remember a few weeks ago when we were fucking miles ahead of United? Not even in my worst nightmares did I think that this was possible, but by the second week of February they’re probably going to go above us. What makes it even worse is that they haven’t even been doing that well, they’ve had loads of draws but we’ve still let them close the gap to just one point.

I’m so fucking disgusted with those shithouses who’ve once gain left us in this position. All we have to play for now is to try to stay above the mancs and blueshite and right now I wouldn’t bet on us doing either. Still, why should they care, all they have to do is play well for a few months and then get their agent to push the club for a new deal and they’re laughing all the way to the bank.

Just fuck off football.

City signed Gabriel Jesus in the summer mate. They'd always intended to bring him over to Manchester in January.

But yes, yet again we failed to bolster our squad in January. That did for us in January 2009 and January 2014 when on both occasions we were in the title mix. It might well have done for us this season too.

Point still stands. We could have done a deal in September to get someone over in January.

They were swearing at him. He doesn't like being sworn at, or to have people question his fan base.

What's the "fan base" reference, Dave?  I saw you mentioned it last week, too, I think?
