  1. I think that 'handled the ball' has been removed from the Laws as a standalone mode of dismissal and subsumed within 'obstructed the field', in which case your opposition keeper is ignorant as well as sounding like a bit of a wanker.
  2. Cheating means different things to different people, for me it means deliberately breaking the rules to try and deceive the officials into giving you an advantage, with deception being the big component. A deliberate handball on the line to stop the ball going in isn't cheating but Henry's notorious handball against Ireland was. Carey wasn't cheating unless he knew the ball was dead, which wasn't the case. The fault lies with the umpires who gave ambiguous signals about when the over was 'over' - in fact, Carey was one of the few people on the field who was paying attention.
  3. If Leicester and Forest win on Monday, and Everton lose to Brighton, if Forest then beat Chelsea the following Saturday, and Everton lose to City the next day, then I think if Liverpool lose to Leicester on the Monday that puts Everton down?
  4. It looked from where I was sitting that Willian was offside in the buildup to the chance that Allison saved, but I have not read anything to that effect so assume he wasn't?
  5. For one moment I thought Wanker Road was near to Shafter Creek.
  6. I think you might fit in well with those ladies in Hidden Figures.
  7. I apologise in advance if this has been covered in this thread already, but... The abomination that is the replacement for PopMaster on Radio 2 at 10.30. Tedious and a baffling scoring system which means that it's more or less impossible to play along. Nobody gives a toss what the contestant got, it's what you/the people you're listening with that's the only thing that matters. But it requires calculus-level maths to do that. Fortunately Ken Bruce is on at the same time but like many DAB stations they're as hard to find as, as Jack Aubrey put it, an honest man in Parliament.
  8. I assumed that Mo was on the bench given that it's Ramadan?
  9. But apart from that Mrs Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?
  10. Sophie Scholl - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sophie_Scholl Led a non-violent protest - in GERMANY - against the Nazis during the war. Executed when she was 21. Flabbergasting courage.
  11. Leonardo da Vinci must be glad he's not alive to see this (as it were), this person's mastery of perspective and vanishing point would prompt him to simply chuck away the brushes and easel and go into cabaret full-time.
  12. I thought exactly the same thing, even down to the nasty little pants and naff jumper combo.
  13. I did not realise this until yesterday. I am not sure what is more embarrassing - getting a medal (a medal!) because your wife's nan has stayed in her job for a long time - or actually wearing the thing in public.
  14. It's not a sewage pipe in the dramas I watch, it tends to be a well-lit, well-ventilated pipe with at worst a trickle of clean water, but big enough to have a place in a hydroelectric facility.
  15. I was in a cash point queue recently, behind two old ladies and a person who was taking an interminable amount of time at the machine. This person was a very large woman indeed. After a few sighs and tuts at the delay, one of the old ladies muttered ostentatiously to the other 'perhaps she thinks you can get food out of it'. I had to walk away so I could laugh.
  16. The person she most reminds me of is that rancid specimen Katie Hopkins.
  17. The ECHR underscores the right to liberty, freedom of speech, prohibition against torture, unlawful imprisonment and slavery. To want that gone, you either have to be an incredibly stupid lawyer who doesn't understand the basics of International conventions and so don't actually get what withdrawing from the ECHR means - in her case, an entirely plausible conclusion, she has never seemed anything other than a Johnson stooge - or you do understand what it means, which makes you a fascist. Chilling and I hope we never see her again.
  18. Much worse than that. She was on radio 4 just now saying that human rights norms that this country helped create after WW2 are the reason why we have illegal immigration, and so should be scrapped. She is a toxic, horrible twat who is as close to an actual Nazi as I've ever heard in a mainstream party.
  19. I have heard that PM has a reputation for having quite poor personal hygiene. I certainly wouldn't want to be anywhere near her when she takes her shoes off, especially in this weather.
