  1. As a mark of respect for Jean Alexander, that oft quoted one in Coronation St where she and Stan celebrate their anniversary in a posh hotel was excellent.
  2. No Fash didn't play, and there was no handball for Everton in the area. Limpar handled for no reason to give them their penalty. But other than that, you are spot on.
  3. The winning goal definitely looked dodgy, that can't be denied. However, if that game was rigged,it must have been rigged in the fashion of that boxing match in the tv series " Porridge" organised by Harry Grout. Everton were 2-0 down to a penalty given when Limpar jumped up and punched the ball when nobody was around him. and then an own goal by Ablett. And if Hans Segers was on the take, why did he risk injury just before half time when he bravely came out and knocked Paul Rideout out cold.( he wouldn't have been allowed to carry on these days,Rideout) Strange game all around, and I can understand why people feel that way, but in the context of the whole 90 minutes, and what went on before-I doubt it.
  4. I posted a link on here a while ago to a tv documentary filmed over a week ,before the Everton-Liverpool FA Cup tie. It was excellent, and I seem to recall that Len was actually interviewed on it at home-as was Ron Yeats at his garage in West Derby Village. If you google "Mersey Mania 1967- This Week tv " you might find it. The documentary was actually presented by Clement Freud
  5. That spike was representative of a point
  6. I won't tell you what I once got from a Knowsley councillor, but my dalliance with her required a visit to Q clinic.
  7. I remember other cities had their version. Blackpool had a "green " version-used to enjoy reading that after an away game there.
  8. I am offended by the word boring. Seriously,if you can't take an Evertonian debating football on here ,then that's fine. I thought RAWK was where all the nutters where-it seems I was wrong
  9. With the exception of Hillsbrough,I don't think I have ever been so moved by a disaster. Possibly because I was a young schoolkid at the time, but it was such an emotional time. Watching that "Young wives of Aberfan " Documentary on ITV last night brought it all back to me. Getting a long hug from my tearful mum when I got home from school that day, watching the bravery of the locals trying with their bare hands to rescue anybody who may have survived-miners rushing from work, exhausted and desperately trying to get into the school. The heartbreaking story of finding a teacher killed while trying to shield four kids under their body. Absolutely heartbreaking- wiping out most of a generation of a small town. Incredible bravery from all concerned, and a disgrace that it was ever allowed to happen ,considering there had been warnings previously. I don't know how that community survived and got through it.
  10. If you compare the stats from your home game against City and Everton's, they make interesting reading for those who think Everton didn't try that day. LFC 10 Shots..City 13 LFC 4 on target...City 5 LFC 7 corners, City 7 Corners LFC 47% possession EFC 9 Shots, City 18 EFC 4 on target City 6 EFC 4 Corners .. City 3 EFC 59% possession Hardly any difference really, unless you weren't trying either
  11. I remember a game at Anfield a few seasons ago towards the end of the season. Chelsea and Man Utd were going head to head for the title- when Chelsea were about to play at Anfield. I recall a dreadful back pass ,from Steve Gerrard right to their striker who scored and Chelsea went on to win the Title. It was almost as if Liverpool wanted Chelsea to win the title.
  12. I was reading recently that you lot bought the land from St Francis' Xavier school. It used to be their school pitches/athletic grounds. Named after two of the Priests You live and learn eh.
  13. Don't worry- he is signing for Everton in January.
  14. I grew up with my elder (kopite) brothers insisting that the Italian player kicked the ball out of the goalies hands. I was surprised when I saw the goal for the first time on LFC TV a few years ago. Strange thing is, ex players were discussing the game and before showing the goal,Tommy Smith had said that the player kicked the ball out of Lawrence's hands. They showed the goal, and Smith said,"see I told you" Sometimes the myth overtakes the reality. To be fair to my brother, he said Celtic had a perfectly good goal ruled out at Anfield in the 66 Cup Winners Cup tie that would have seen them through. Sometimes you get them, sometimes you don't.
  15. Mrs Redknapp's version of "Stuck in the middle with you" was truly appalling-almost on a par with Madonnas dire rendition of "American Pie"
  16. You forgot that he was also the brilliant Denny Crane in Boston Legal
  17. So then Jurgen, do you fancy the England job?
  18. British- And in no particular order..( no Everton players for obvious reasons) Matt Le Tissier Dennis Law George Best Kenny Dalglish Jimmy Greaves
  19. Didn't it have the exact opposite effect against Chelsea when you were going for the title a few years back? Wasn't Mourinho supposed to have said to his players on the coach " do you want to be the clowns here today,in this circus "
  20. Depends if the local ninja's sell all their allocation to the tourists. 53,876
  21. At least the Manchester feller only hurt one child-Benn likes bombing loads in Syria.
  22. Aye,that was a horrendous tackle In fact,it nearly removed Campbell's tackle.
