  1. Ok A return to Spain makes no sense as none of the top clubs want him. I can't really see him moving to the German or Italian Leagues. United are set on De Gea according to all the papers... so... that only really leaves Arsenal. After the match today surely he will see that Arsenal, are less likely to win anything than we are.
  2. I really hope so, I can't believe how much he's lifted this club in such a short space of time. If we sign 2 or 3 top quality players this summer, I genuinely feel we can challenge for the Title next season.
  3. I think we should keep him for one more year, and hope to get 15 to 20 games from him. Hopefully he can work closely with Robinson in training and help him to develop his game.
  4. Most people, including myself, feel that he is the only man for the job now and deserves a real crack at taking us back to the top, but I noticed in his comments earlier, that maybe a decision has already been made, and that he's not going to get the job. His comments, The Scot has had to tackle questions about whether the owners have offered him a long-term contract at every press conference. His post-match press session was no different. "I get asked this every day and it's the same answer," he said. "But regarding the owners, they are fully committed to bringing in new faces and spending money on the playing staff, so whoever has the privilege of managing the football club is also going to have the privilege of spending some money." hopefully just me overreacting, but seems like a strange way to put it.
  5. Obviously the youth players have grabbed all the headlines, and rightly so, but I thought Skrtel was excellent today, and looks revitalized under the king. After Carra went off, I was worried we'd crumble defensively, but he lead by example and put in a fantastic performance.
  6. Another good performance today. Solid defensively and looked calm and composed on the ball.
  7. Fantastic performance today. My only concern is that we don't put to much pressure on the young players coming into the first team. I had high hopes for Insua when he made the breakthrough, but I think too much was expected of him too soon, and this was to be his undoing. In the summer I still think we should sign a left back, and keep Aurelio and use Robinson as a third choice left back. With Aurelio's injury record Robinson would still make a fair few appearances next season, and then be promoted to second choice at the end of next season when Aurelio's contract expires.
  8. King Kenny was spot on. Wenger has got to go now surely! Its never ever his fault, always blaming someone else. Arsenal are a second rate Barcelona, without the silverwear to show for it.
  9. Hasn't he been subbed after the hour mark in all 3 games? suggests his fitness levels aren't up to it?
  10. As great as it would be, I can't see us making up 8 points on Man City over 6 games. the damage was done earlier in the season. The home defeats to Blackpool and Wolves have cost us dear. If we'd have won either one of those games we'd have half a chance, but not now. 6th is where we'll finish this season, and rightly so.
  11. I wish more people would look at the bigger picture as to what Rafa achieved here. He made us one of the most feared teams in Europe once again, and most of the good work with the reserves and youth setup currently was all started by him. He also understands us, and everything that makes this club what it is.
  12. A major factor for me is that as soon as any half decent young English striker shows some potential, they get hyped up beyond belief and get stuck with a stupid price tag. e.g Connor Wickham
  13. Its because some of the biggest names in Europe are struggling right now. Ourselves, Juventus and Bayern Munich have all had poor league campaigns. In fact all of the top Italian teams aren't the force they were, to the point where the German league has now overtaken the Italian league, so there will only be 3 Italian clubs in the Champions League next season. Barca, Madrid and the English teams look as though they will dominate Europe for a long long time.
  14. We need to start off by getting rid of any player that doesn't want to be here. This has been one of our biggest problems over the past few seasons and has cost us heavily this season too. If we can add 3 or 4 quality players to the squad and get rid of the likes of Poulson, Jovanovic, Cole etc then we should be looking to challenge for all the domestic honors next season, especially with European football looking unlikely.
  15. The guy is 33 years old. He has plenty of time before he manages a big European club. Porto will be back in the Champions League next season and could be dark horses to win it again too in my opinion. He should stay there for at least a couple more seasons.
  16. Started again last night in a 2-2 draw with Watford. He was also substituted again, with half an hour to go. I didn't watch the game, but there's no mention of him at all in any match reports. Sounds like he had a fairly quiet game.
  17. I'd be surprised and delighted if they were to get to the level of the United players you mentioned. I think all 3 can be good squad players here initially, it depends just how much they improve over the coming years as to wether or not they can become established first team players. Its great to see they are being given a chance though, and hopefully this will be the way it is now. Next season i'd like to see the likes of Toni Silva, Andre Wisdom, and Adam Morgan given some first team games.
  18. Morgan scores again, Silva looks like he has huge potential, how old is he?
  19. Is right. He'll be fine as he is still hugely well thought of in Italy. Clubs will be queuing up to appoint him in the summer. Yet again it all falls down to Roman Abramovich thinking he knows better than the manager, but pissing him off and undermining him in the process.
  20. 50 million pounds!!!!! His first touch is woeful!!
  21. So he will be this summers, Jovanovic,Degan, Vorronin signing. good to see that we're keeping the tradition going.
  22. In- Mertesacker, Baines, Adam and Mata. Out- Jovanovic, Kyrgiakos,N'Gog,Poulsen, Irwin, Jones, Konchesky, Darby, El Zhar, Aquilani, Degen, and Insua.
  23. Per Mertesacker!!!! I've rated him for many years. Its seems almost certain that he will leave Werder Bremen this summer, as he only has 12 months left on his contract. In my opinion we have never replaced Sami Hyypia properly, and Mertesacker is for me, the best possible replacement.
  24. Boas strikes me as an ambitious man, so hopefully he will want to build on the success he's established at Porto and have a crack at the Champions league next year. In the meantime, I'd like the king to be given at least 2 seasons to try and restore us to our former glory, possibly with Boas taking over.
