  1. Harley Davidson & the Marlboro Man... 7.5/10 Not the most ingenious script but for what it is it is too cool for school... starring Mickey Rourke and Don Johnson from 1996... bank heist to save their favourite bar in Burbank goes very wrong
  2. Heated situations, family insults, racist jeering, respect, sensationalism, growing up, moving on Im no great writer or an expert in the field of people relations and psychology but i am proficient enough in all three to be able to recognise when enough is enough and when people need to get a bloody grip and escape from the playground. Since the inception of the entirely pathetic affair that is the Suarez/Evra incident in October i have been a jaw dropped onlooker at the extent of incredulous stupidity in relation to every single protracted aspect. I could try to use some big words here but it all comes down to a simple What The Fuck???!!!!! Liverpool v Manchester United at Anfield (or Old Trafford) is and always will be one of the biggest and most heated of competitive situations in football. That means that anything that happens in this game will be viewed by more people and every little detail will be more accentuated. The result independently always means a lot more and personal rivalries between individual players can become more volatile than in most games due to the overall rivalry between the clubs. This can often lead to a lot of good things, not least brilliant players raising their game and producing a footballing spectacle that is entertainment of the highest order for fellow professionals and spectators alike. Sadly, when things are not going so well for one club, or certain individuals, and possibly due mostly to their competitive nature, some will take things too far and use anything and everything unfairly to either their own and clubs advantage. Sometimes in extreme cases they will be so bitter about being outplayed or whatever, they will sink to the depths of simply hurting the opposition even when it doesn’t help themselves or their club in any way. That my friends is what is known as unprofessionalism and is a form of cheating which is as bad as many other things that exist in the world and need to be stamped out as much as possible. Other football matches can be highly volatile heated situations just as much as the above in all seriousness but maybe not quite as focussed on. Things happen in the other games just as they do in the above match. Something you can see in almost every single match played is a player being upset by an opposition player or a decision against them they feel that is unfair. What happens quite a lot is that the upset player will swear at someone, or say something angrily offensive to another person. Why do we have to elevate the importance of angrily or jeeringly but correctly stating the colour of another persons skin over and above the importance of a defender telling a referee to fuck off that wasn’t a penalty you prick. Not really find many referees taking action against players is there? How many times do they get verbally abused? Think you will find that referee’s go into that job with their eyes open knowing what to expect and take it all in context. Actually while we are at it maybe you are jostling for position in the box for a corner and an opponent pushes in front of you and you have just informed him that his mother isn’t so rude, infact she always makes you a sandwich when you go round to give her a good seeing to while your dad is at work. Basically racist remarks can have an emotional effect on the recipient, or cause psychological trauma but then again racist doesn’t have the monopoly on this cause and effect event. In fact you don’t have to even swear or be racist in any way to do exactly the same thing to someone. Your body language and tone of your voice or inflection is enough to affect someone else to their detriment. Why? When this is the case are we not drawn to every single angry, derisive, jeering personal attack out of the uncountable many that happen on every single football pitch and in every game played. Why is racist abuse more important than any other form of abusive personal attack? Evra complains about racist abuse, but he may not have complained about annoying Suarez who may have angrily got up close and personal and told him to forcefully fuck off you prick! Maybe Evra would have complained about that also, who knows. Most people that reach the enviable status of being a professional footballer playing in the biggest of games have long since learned the basic child rhyme sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me. All of the personal attacks that happen would be so frequent that we would have no time for anything else, i don’t think certain “racist remarks” deserve to be singled out of all that as requiring attention. That being said some are and always will be more sensitive than others. Basically any incident should only be dealt with post-match based on merit. When the young black player was abused by a fan and was moved to tears that was a cause/effect that warrented dealing with. The player was after all a young person without the exposure and vast experience of the likes of Evra. As much as Evra has been seen to be the most childlike pussy whining little girl i have had the displeasure of seeing as a blemish on my favourite sport, i don’t really think he was all that emotionally or mentally scarred as a result of this particular exchange. It was quite clear at both Anfield and Old Trafford that Evra lacks somewhat in the maturity stakes granted, but he is also quite adept with being racist towards his own race (see YouTube for Evra rapping away with the word Nigger). His real problem is he is a cheat, a sore loser and a bit of a complete unadulterated idiot. Clearly the intention was to use racism as an inflammatory vehicle for the benefit of unsporting attack on a fellow pro. This may seem as a bit racist but its not my intention, i just never really seem to meet any black skinned people (what is the world coming to? I just paused and thought for a second, can i write black skinned people... oh God help us all) that are that prepared to come across in public as a complete poof! Thats not a remark against gays, simply read that as being like pathetic weak little crybabies. Give as good as you get and get on with the job at hand otherwise go work in a bloody lighthouse you knobend (i so wanted to put dried piece of monkeys afterbirth there instead but thought better of it). Thank God he is the Man U captain and not ours! I would not be happy if the roles here were reversed, i don’t want anyone like Evra on my team. I like football and good footballers, pussies need not apply. Aside from the above, one of the most amazing things to me in this whole sorry dragged out pathetic mess was Fergie getting involved. Initially he quite correctly said on camera that he did not want to be drawn into that discussion prior to the ban on Suarez being administered. That despite the fact, the doddering old fool was actually instrumental in the case seeing the light of day in the first place. What age is Fergie again? Has he not learned or grown up fully yet? Get rid of Suarez for not shaking the little turd’s hand? Are you kidding me? What a senile old git you have actually turned into now that you have moved on from being a cheating, sore loser. The problem with Fergie is that he hates Liverpool sooooo much and still feels in our shadow that he can at times take leave of his senses and blurt mad shit out in some poor imitation of proper professional conduct. He has done alright really, why does he still feel like he is a million miles away from the Greatness achieved at Liverpool. For God sake just be happy with what you have managed and try to finish on a high. Blatantly insinuating Liverpool should ditch Suarez is a very thin veiled diversion from what is really on your mind. You would swap Suarez for Evra in a heartbeat wouldn’t you? Yeah i know how highly you rate Suarez, but you are not the only one Fergie ;) Suarez sin count – 1. Alleged racist abuse of Evra (we are not entirely sure as Evra changed his story several times during the inquest including not quite being sure exactly what was said). 2. Not shaking hands with Evra (He got banned by this person who simple used racism as a vehicle to disgrace a fellow professional for using the same words he uses himself and whilst also insulting his sister in a particularly hurtful way) 3. Not fully making the club aware that he had no intention of shaking Evra’s hand (on this one it shows lack of self respect for him to shake Evra’s hand. He should not have been expected to do so at all just to keep the masses happy looking on through rose tinted spectacles. So if he shook is hand we would all start thinking awwww look thats cute they have made up and Suarez will probably be going to Evra’s place for a BBQ??? Seriously get a grip!!! False False False, absolutely nothing is solved by a false showing of solidarity in this case except the loss of Suarez respect. As it happens, Evra frantically attempting to get a public show served only to lose any respect he may have had left at that point) NB: If i had a choice i would choose to receive RACIST ABUSE because if someone insults my sister i would consider that to be far more hurtful and may actually lead to me doing something i will later regret. You can call me whatever you like and i will give it to you back in spades but dont start on my family or else things will have to turn ugly and you will have brought that shit on yourself (maybe look at the Zidane/Materazzi incident as a pretty fair example of minimum required retribution here - yes i agree with what Zidane did despite the fact i guess it had to be dealt with. The Italian prick should have suffered more though and is a pathetic excuse for a human). That being said Evra seems to be the only one who should have ever been punished for anything in this, if at all. Evra sin count – 1. Sister insult to Suarez 2. Refusing to make up on field after chat with referee following the incident (basically he refused to shake his hand back in October) 3. Drawing attention to a lack of handshake (grow up ffs, he doesn’t like or respect you if he ever did, why would you yourself want him to shake your hand that being the case? You did him severe wrong and inside he would rather stab you in the face, get over it and move on you self centred, trouble making, toys out the pram little girl) 4. Dancing around like a 12 year old boy who just got the high score round at you mates on playstation in front of Suarez with the intention of getting a reaction from him. Must have been annoying he was acting more like an adult then really. Who actually started the initial discourse? Who gives a shit to be honest. Setting things out clearly as above Evra is the only real guilty party here. But again, it shouldn’t have gotten past the game in October and that would only leave Suarez with sin 1, but Evra with sin 1 and 2. And im sorry but Suarez was guilty of racist conent competitive banter maybe but what Evra did was probably deservant of a good kicking down a dark alley somewhere. At the end of the day though, i would have ignored complaints from either player and just told them to fucking grow up and put your energy into trying harder the next game instead of your pitiful little bickering like children. I cant be arsed with mentioning the FA involvement in this really. To me FA stands for FUCK ALL. They are useless, inept, corrupt, self serving, anti football. What it all came down to was a pointless robbing of Suarez talent from the paying public for 8 matches. Man Utd representative involved says it all really. It wasn’t just Liverpool fans that lost out here. We all love sensationalism. Its great at times but we have enough with the wrong decisions or those that could go either way depending on your point of view. Football banter is adequately served, sometimes excessively so, with all of these. We do not need this shite basically. The whole country is debating this pish since October and its ongoing and i have written all this!!! This is even crazier than when once upon a time we got lots of stuff done quickly and easily because we hadn’t invented health & safety yet! Funny how as we progress through the generations our greatest impact comes from blowing things out of proportion, time wasting and making things more costly and ineffective. Im just saying.... don't get me wrong, i am not advocating a player of any club getting away with racist behaviour as it is wrong and cannot be tolerated. But, just get a grip and take action on things in context (not the language context you cant seem to get right anyway for the FA's benefit). In this case the abuse was from both sides and either cancel out or deal with both as harshly if you really must make an example. But also, if you make such an example, dont ignore every other possible form of personally destructive abuse. Hard hit anyone for everything that happens or dont do it at all! If someone threatens someone on the field - banned! if someone tells someone to fuck off - banned! if someone calls a (dare i say it) white person a bad name - banned! For those that are not clear, since i dont actually remember things changing officially, football is not an anti white, protect all other races thing. Maybe i am wrong and technically Suarez is not really all that white but on recent events you can see the possibility of hundred upon hundreds of racism claims by WHITE PLAYERS since it seems that the white players have a lot less muscle to flex when it comes to legal matters. A white player complaining about racist remarks to him after a game would be accompanied by laughter for weeks after all around the country. There is nothing significant about Evra's colour of skin in this case, all that is significant is that he is a lying, cheating, poor excuse for a professional.
  3. Sorry about this but that made me laugh! Still im sure ive heard that crack before...
  4. I was hoping for more positivity considering our run in and the other 4th place candidates run-ins and spurs actually over achieving and city unpredictable inept tendancies. Having said that we do have to take 15 points from 5 games, but thats in our own hands not anyone elses and very achievable
  5. Anything other than a loss today and the quest for 4th is on. I know we are rebuilding already so what better way to do that next season than starting the league full of hopes and dreams and maybe even a good run in the champions league (and that cash wont suck either). Despite the odds against us we have done pretty damn good today. Well done to the youngsters and well done kuyt in dispatching the pen in that clinical fashion, must have taken some nerve in the 100th minute! I actually wasnt sure what to expect today but i have the opinion that spurs and city may only be able to reach as high as 63 points. We can still get 64 now! I dont want to be realistic and down to earth or limit my expectations... I am walking through a storm with my head held high and i'm not afraid of the dark i.e. LFC failing to clinch 4th. ...at the end of the storm 4th is still very possibly there for the taking. I'm very tired of not expecting much, i miss knowing i can expect something and with King Kenny in charge my belief is back. Twinned with no faith in city and spurs abilities i believe we can still only lose a champs league spot
  6. yep thats true, its pretty much that he is the most versatile and as good in so many different areas of the oppositions half. agree that argentina are a team that could easily adapt the same approach with messi. i can see that working well for them too with the squad they have to select from too.
  7. if you watch them regularly you will often see messi going out to the right and villa going middle with others covering the left side in behind. messi really just has a very free role due to his ability and awareness. after watching them for a long time i can see they have contingency plans for the movement of what often becomes 2 centre forwards
  8. im expecting entertainment and/or blood and guts from any or all of the 4 el clasico's but as of the last 20 mins the ref has merged into howard webb reffing for the mancs at old trotters and ruined the game by eventually giving them the inspiration of a false penalty... pissed off now
  9. Yea it is a write off of a season but i still like the try to go for slim chance of champions league football next season. If thats possible, or while its still possible then every point must be fought hard
  10. My god i love this thread!!! Ha ha its pure gold. Offside rule and associated aspects of it are not complicated. Pundits do, as has been mentioned, make it sound like a nightmare. They usually do it when the officials have managed to screw up badly or when their own interpretation of the rule conflicts with the officials. They basically want incident and controversy to talk about. A play may be complicated to either assess as offside or otherwise due to the speed of play and number of players involved and quality of officials (or number of active eyes on the important aspects of the game). This just reinforces the fact that video technology needs to be used to ensure these gross errors and massive pundit conspiracys dont take centre stage. But sometimes i do actually like big controversy so ummmm yea
  11. Barca will win 2 and there will be 2 draws, draws in the league and 1st leg of CL. Barca will generally boss the matches and will score in excess of 10 goals with Messi getting at least 8 I would love Barca to yet again teach the mancs a lesson but they will beat Schalke in the final i think. Schalke may even beat manure in both legs :O
  12. but still looks utterly cool, darth vader is Brazilian! i didnt realise it was just training gear though. i thought i saw it for £60 somewhere, thats expensive for just training top
  13. 17-04-11 arsenal v Liverpool ? 20-04-11 spurs v arsenal away win (draw?) 23-04-11 Liverpool v Birmingham home win Spurs v west brom home win 25-04-11 blackburn v city draw 30-04-11 chelsea v spurs home win (draw?) 01-05-11 liverpool v Newcastle home win City v west ham draw 07-05-11 spurs v blackpool home win (that could easily be worse for spurs) Everton v city home win (well they are no use for anything else!) 09-05-11 fulham v Liverpool away win 10-05-11 city v spurs draw (probably a key result) 14-05-11 city v stoke home win 15-05-11 liverpool v spurs home win (obviously!!!) 22-05-11 villa v Liverpool away win Spurs v Birmingham home win (but then again brummies might need points very badly) Bolton v city draw Arsenal away is tricky indeed but the rest are all clearly LFC winnable ;) dependant on the arsenal outcome the following totals are possible PL W D L GD PTS Liverpool 32 14 6 12 +7 48 Liverpool 38 20 6 12 +15? 66 Liverpool 38 19 7 12 +14? 64 Liverpool 38 19 6 13 +13? 63 The results above for city and spurs will lead to these final positions Man city 38 17 12 9 63 after 32 pld current GD is +20 Spurs 38 17 12 9 63 after 31 pld current GD is +8 LFC must try to improve goal difference in case we do end up on same points as spurs, however it does look a stretch to better man city’s goal difference. LFC winning all remaining 6 games looks 4th place friendly is the bottom line!
  14. we have 6 matches remaining which is a maximum of 18 points, which would finish us on 66 points. what position would that finish us in? are 18 points possible? is arsenal away the hardest game we have left? would 63 or 64 points give us a chance of a good final placing? so many variables and so many outcomes... i have had a look at the remaining fixtures and also those of rivals, most importantly man city and spurs. i think i may have come up with a result that may offer light at the end of the tunnel:drool:.... or have i?
  15. ha ha ha! couldnt read the whole thread but quite amusing all the same. i thought this was a pre signing or at signing thread but it was april 7th!!!! that rules out possible confusion over another number 9 who may have been the slander target then heh heh cant actually believe he thought being out 5 days before a game even if he was having a few is out of order. as long as he is not getting mullered im pretty sure he could have been out on thur or fri too. is there a cut off time other than the obvious day before a game? if moderation is applied and any drink consumed doesnt stop you performing knock yerself out (figuratively speaking of course). unfortunately when George Best played drink often didnt really stop him playing better than we would have liked
