  1. Following on from this, and going slightly off-topic, but as well as the whole Collymore thing my home town team Southend United and Liverpool have actually got a bit of a long standing connection. Liverpool came to Southend in the 1979 FA Cup which resulted in Southend’s biggest ever attendance of around 32000 at Roots Hall. Our line-up: Goalkeeper Ray Clemence DefenderAlan Hansen DefenderPhil Neal DefenderPhil Thompson Defender/MidfielderEmlyn Hughes MidfielderJimmy Case MidfielderRay Kennedy MidfielderTerry McDermott MidfielderGraeme Souness ForwardKenny Dalglish ForwardDavid Fairclough The game ended up 0-0 with us winning 3-0 in the replay at Anfield. Later on Ronnie Whelan signed for Southend before going on to become Player/Manager. I remember Whelan almost convinced Jan Molby to come and sign for Southend but at the last minute he got the Swansea manager offer and took that instead. Southend also went on to sign Mike Marsh for a club record £500,000 from Galatasaray (still the club record to this day). Southend also signed Steve Harkness on loan at one point and there was a rumour that Liverpool were so pleased with how he got on at Roots Hall that they were going to send Ian Rush down here too. It was towards the end of Rush’s career though so I’m not sure how truthful those rumours are. Anyway...here’s some highlights of the first game at Roots Hall.
  2. I used to have a season ticket at my local team, Southend United. On Collymore’s debut I genuinely got goosebumps when I saw his turn of pace. He had the lot...pace, skill and could strike the ball well with both feet. If he had any weakness it was probably his heading. He scored some incredible goals and, being young and impressionable, he became my favourite player. When we signed him for £8.5m I was so unbelievably excited. It’s a shame things didn’t work out as he had all the attributes to become one of our best. Still one of my favourite ever players.
  3. Beans and gravy.... ....and then bread and butter to mop up the gravy and bean juice infusion.
  4. Been a while since I last logged on. Wow.....11 years on and this post is still knocking about. Ha!
  5. Ketchup. What else is going to accompany my baked beans?
  6. I had only asked for one sausage in exchange for the mushrooms so I do agree there were too many on this plate. Overall I thought it was a solid effort. Sausages were maybe teetering on being under cooked but the bacon was exactly how I like it. Toast was perfect for folding up and mopping up the bean juice at the end. I do not like black pudding.
  7. Morley’s Nursery - Southend-on-Sea, Essex. £8.50 It was only meant to have 2 sausages but I swapped out the mushrooms and they gave me an extra 2.
  8. I’m watching it at home with my son and then I’ve got to rush to work as I’m on a night shift. There’s a very high chance I’m going to be meeting the Spurs plane as it lands after the final.......this could be horrific or absolutely glorious.
  9. Had a dream that David Silva scored a header in the first few minutes to put City 1-0. Our game remained 0-0 and we were struggling to break down Wolves. Then Glenn Murray gets an 83rd minute equaliser.......we score a winner in the 94th minute to win the league. The only problem was it was Gerrard who scored it.
  10. That’s not right I’m afraid. They've played 4 times since 2017 and City have won every game. EDIT: Actually you are right. They have only won 1 away to Brighton in the last 5.....however that includes results from ‘81, ‘83 and ‘89.
  11. Caramac....any chance of a gif of Fabinho winning the ball, going on a little run and then winning a free kick in the last few minutes?
  12. I wouldn’t worry yourselves too much. It’s the Spurs and Utd games that are the potential banana skins.
  13. Liverpool’s remaining 11 league games. • Watford (H) • Everton (A) • Burnley (H) • Fulham (A) • Spurs (H) • Southampton (A) • Chelsea (H) • Cardiff (A) • Huddersfield (H) • Newcastle (A) • Wolves (H) Before KO yesterday I would have taken a point. We are 1 point ahead and can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Let’s get back on track by beating Watford on Wednesday and opening up a 4 point lead. We can do this.
  14. Doesn’t bode well for the run in. Team and crowd were incredibly nervous.
  15. Looking for 2 (would also take 1) for West Ham away. Can anyone help?
