    I read an article recently that said that it's been suggested in Argentina that Maradona doesn't want Messi to be brilliant as he's a genuine threat to his crown as best footballer ever. I've never worked out why Argentina don't go all out to mirror Barcelona's system as much as possible. Obviously, they're limited in terms of personnel but if you've got a player as talented as Messi - the best player on the planet - you do everything you can to get him to succeed. With his form for Barcelona as it is, you literally just need to get him performing at 100% and you're in with a shout regardless of the other player's performances.

    It's a good thing in a lot of ways - the strength of opposition should hopefully make up for the lack of value placed on the competition. People have pointed out that we've potentially a harder route to the Europa League final than the mancs potentially have to theirs - if that's the case then hopefully the neutrals and the media will see it that way.* *They won't.
