  1. 1) Has your accent changed over the years? - Yes, but only in the short-term. When I went to Uni it was such a melting pot of accents that we all started having mixed up accents for a few months. 2) Do you speak with the same accent as your parents? - Both parents are Scottish, although my mum has lost her accent and has developed a strange, and fairly strong, midlands accent. She says 'bath', 'grass' etc as it should be said but then comes out with things like 'Raaarrrrrsberry' and 'Derby' (instead of 'Darby'.) My dad has quite a strong accent, according to others, but I follow what he says and Scottish phrases from him and other Scots with ease. 3) Do your children speak with the same accent as you? - No kids. 4) Do you do a phone voice? - I think I probably do in a work setting as I'd assume most people would want to be clearer and more easily understood over the phone just to save from having to repeat yourself if anything. I think the lack of visible body language effects this as well.
  2. Yeah, the commentator did say, when talking of the pre-match crowd noise, something along the lines of "...I don't know if they are playing it during the game..." Shocking and shit if so.
  3. I watched the West Ham game on a stream today. Apologies if this has already been mentioned but did anyone hear the commentator, I think it was Ian Darke, say that they had awkwardly heard West Ham playing 'crowd noise' in the lead up to the game to try and build atmosphere?
  4. I got well and truly freaked the fuck out earlier this evening. Sitting in my mums living room chatting to my mum and dad about something serious. My phone, which is usually always in my pocket, was on a unit next to me (picture sitting, and the phone being slightly above the level of your midsection and slightly in front you). I had been texting my younger sister about this serious thing and put my phone down beyond a cup of coffee. Suddenly, mid conversation, the fucking thing not only 'fell off' but came backwards directly at me and quickly as if pushed off or thrown at me. I looked for the logical explanation but was stumped; physics defied. Time to call Venkman and co.
  5. That's nicely insulting to those of us that are actually 'depressive'. The real answer is that he knows what's going to happen to him, so he's just stretching it out as much as he can, while he can, likely, to build an 'event.'
  6. I'm going to go for a YouTube advert twat that makes me want to peel my face off with something blunt and rusty every time I see/hear it. The knob called Tyler (not going to mention his second name) who is a super-camp twat of the very highest order who wants to Fuck with my calendar, apparently. Jump into a fiery furnace supercunt!
  7. When I was about 17 one night after a party I stopped by a dodgy outlet and grabbed a Chicken leg and fries (I think). My first drunken bite into the Chicken resulted in the skin in its greasy entirety jumping down my throat like it was still alive. I spent so many hours regretting the decision to go to that place that night as I brought up almost everything but my Rectum. It has scarred my memory for ever; for me, Chicken skin is forever to be Fucked off to either someone else, the dog, or the bin (and before you neg, that might just make me your best friend, so behave). Sincerely yours, scarred for life.
  8. That first half was a thing of beauty. I honestly cannot remember seeing the Red men so committed, energetic, mobile, inventive, supportive etc, etc. You name it, we did it in that first half. I would love to see the stats from that half alone, and also see what the average time was that we went without the ball. It couldn't have been in the minutes. Great display.
  9. I used to work closely with bailiffs when I worked in council tax. Basically, their job is to get some money back so the aim was always to get an agreement in place to start repayments. They obviously look to get as much agreed as possible, but I've seen as little as £5 per week made as an agreement. As long as you are trying to pay it back, no matter how small the amount, it was viewed positively, so tell her not to worry about the situation but to make an effort to start paying back.
  10. Well, if this "message" is to be believed then it will all be over on Monday of next week. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=15d_1474488690 (P.S: can someone instruct me on how to include the video itself on the page instead of just a link.)
  11. Also, enjoyed this. Not as long as others but great all the same.
  12. I really liked this. Also, quite amazing to think that she was there for that amount of time, alone, dead.
  13. See, as more of a biology freak I'd explain that away as simply your brain recognising things, remembering them, but perhaps not using them, until the time is right. For example, if you look at autistic savants, it shows that the brain is capable of mesmerising things, but the 'healthy' brain filters out what is 'not necessary' at the time - but still stores that information for potential use. In savants, the filter is, in a way, off, and freed up in some way. The brains capacity is then free to output the input in a way that is more true to what is really going on.
  14. I think what you have described there is the same thing, in that life is an animal drive, but then there is a consciousness of some kind going on each time, in varying degrees, that wrestles against that in a more rational way.
  15. If a civilisation of some sort could create and manage a simulated civilisation to the point where it became self aware, conscious, and grew to a point where it 'knew' it wasn't actually real, how would the original civilisation manage that? What would they do if their subjects attained such high intelligence that they could think about potentially freeing themselves? I don't see it, certainly not in a long-term sense, as they would always, no matter what, be far more advanced and would study, learn, predict, measure and absorb any relevant information required long before such occurrences came about.
  16. The sound that cracking a can of beer open makes. 'tssss' very satisfying indeed.
  17. I'm not sure referencing Oklahoma will help you out much there buddy.
  18. Consciousness. If we are 'in something' the whole point is that we would never actually know it. We could theorise it, but we would never, ever know. The understanding would not be there. I've always been a big fan of biology, in that, I don't see how it could be replicated. If you could give self awareness to a computer/robot, that's one thing, if you can give consciousness to them then that's a whole other ball game. If computers/robots, reach a level where they can become conscious, then theoretically at least, they would look to be an animal, but more efficient (they would have to have some history to go on). That's not to say that they would be flesh and bones, because if I put myself there I would immediately see that as a big weakness. Out with the flesh, in with something else; et cetera, et cetera. I suppose the question is, would that be the same for all physiological attributes? Would hearts, and livers, and kidneys, and brains be reproduced or 'upgraded? If they reach that point then the brain becomes a record, a tape, a CD, an MP3 and god knows what thereafter. It's very interesting.
  19. I'm not sure about the 'being in a simulation' thing, maybe, maybe not, but I have long felt that we as a species, perhaps even all life on the planet, may have been planted here by others. I suggested this to an ex-girlfriend once and she just thought I was batshit. But if you stop and think for a minute, and most importantly, stop thinking that you as a human being are the be all and end all of everything, then maybe you can think that there may be something else. If you look at life on this planet and how it has evolved with regards to 'dominion' then I think you could see how things could be many years from now. As the dominant species we want to observe, to learn, to grow. We put animals in situations to study them, we have even started doing this with people in a popular sense let alone privately. Fast forward that thought and imagine us in 100 years. What are we going to study and learn about? Fast forward that 500 years, or 1000 years. Life will only be learned about by being studied, and it may just be that we are insignificant Guinea pigs after all - if only our human arrogance would allow that thought.
