  1. Not just one, but two murders in this (three if you count the crimes against fashion as well): Tony Christie - I Did What I Did For Maria
  2. First: The Boo Radleys (supported by Electrafixion) at the Royal Court, 5 October 1995* Last: ABC at the Philharmonic Hall, 4 November 2015. * NB: This should actually have been my second gig, as it was originally scheduled for the 19th but brought forward for some reason, meaning that Pulp (who I saw at the Royal Court on the 14th) became No. 2.
  3. At least Benn didn't make any misguided forays into light entertainment after retiring from the ring:
  4. Still can't believe what I saw in The Lady Of Mann earlier tonight. A bunch of twats came in and started doing a highland reel, accompanied by bagpipes, for around five minutes and I end up getting told off for eventually taking exception to it and shouting at them to "fuck off out of the pub, you stupid cunts" after they almost cleaned out the table we were sat at during the evening's televised sporting event. Hopefully the daft bastards tried it somewhere else in town later on and got the good kicking they were so richly deserving of (and asking for).
  5. Ray bloody Purchase!

  7. I've just noticed that Elvis reading extracts from Unfaithful Music and Disappearing Ink is this week's Book Of The Week on Radio 4 - all five 15-minute episodes are already available on iPlayer [http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06qsmdz/episodes/guide].

  11. Here's an extract from his autoboigraphy Unfaithful Music and Disappearing Ink, which has been published this week:
  12. The "dead sheep" of British politics is now, er, actually dead:
  13. TLW Conference refuses to debate the issue however, as the 'moderates' don't want to give up the option of mutually assured destruction (by neg).

  15. Yes, I was there and I have to say that to suggest "They lost audience after Glen Tilbrook walked off in a strop over some sound issue which seemed to be affecting the live recording for the DVD. After that it took a while to get the crowd back." is complete bollocks, for a number of reasons. After the first two songs, which sounded fine to me up in the Circle, I believe a problem developed (or had become exacerbated) with Tilbrook's electric guitars, so he apologised to the crowd for the "technical difficulties" and wandered off the stage with the rest of the band to return "as soon as possible". No strop whatsoever and nothing to do with the recording for the CDs that were being made available to buy after the gig. They ended up only being off for a couple of minutes, as they came back on to play a couple of songs fully acoustically whilst the problem(s) were sorted out before reverting back to the setlist, which mixed the past hits with about 2/3rds of the songs from the new album - the main reason for the current tour in the first place, as opposed to merely being "a celebration of the classics", which were pretty much all present and correct in any case. I'd personally disagree with the show being "flat", but I had the advantage of already having heard the new songs as I'd bought a limited edition advance version of the new album about a month ago. The vast majority of the crowd (and the reviewer, it seems) were only really there for or interested in the obvious old stuff, which is a problem a lot of 'veteran' bands suffer from - Madness being a prime example in my experience. Overall, a solid 8/10 for me.
  16. I always ensure my bras are securely fastened.
  17. The world of a woman (or possibly more than one) at my work:
  18. Forming half of what must be one of the greatest 7" singles ever made, I give you Ian Dury & The Blockheads: 'There Ain't Half Been Some Clever Bastards' (B-side of 'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick') See also, The Beatles: 'Revolution' (B-side of 'Hey Jude')
