  1. 'That's an easy one, I don't think there can be any real argument , Stewart was a far worse signing than me'
  2. How's Pete Townshend ever going to finish his book now ?
  3. Give or take Stevie & Carra, Pepe has been my favourite recent player, but I think this deal might work out well for all sides. We are saving a min. £2m over the season & getting a goalie who wants to be at LFC, has presumably been earmarked by the scouts and may not be available or may be dearer next season. Pepe gets a bit more love & his mates at Napoli & should shine in a league without crosses before taking his family home next year & we get the delayed fee.
  4. I have always felt Adil Rashid could be a big player for England if he got eyerything together & he seems to have trained on this season. Might not be considered for the Pietersen vacancy as I'm not sure Bairstow has convinced enough to go to no.5 , but I hope he gets a chance sooner or later.
  5. I'd be happy with £5m & Paletta for Suarez.
  6. Bit cheeky of Ohurogou the test-dodger, spouting about lifetime bans.
  7. Seemed a very clumsy thing to say by Moyes when it didn't need saying at all. A cynic might suggest they want to get rid before the window ends & are panicking a bit due to his present injury.
  8. Saw Katarina Johnson-Thomson won the pentathlon at the U-23's on the BBC sport
  9. It is from Caught Offside, so I give it very little credence, but how much did Shaqiri cost Bayern last year ?
  10. The way I read it, he had a year left anyway & they have just added a further year. Re cash, I assume it would be at the same rate.
  11. Still 53 days to go, so no panic yet, but would be underwhelmed if we didn't add significant quality in the interim.
  12. Flicking round the tv last night happened on the last 5 minutes of extra time between Iraq & South Korea. Managed to cop for 2 goals & a penalty shoot-out all in about 20 minutes. ( Iraq won on pens ***). *** It may be subject to an inquiry, as Iraq appeared to have Milan Baros in goal and Rio Ferdinand taking a penno.
  13. Always remember a good line from Joe Royle about him, saying that every week Hickson would come off the pitch covered in blood, and occasionally it was even his own.
  14. Lots of experts on the BBC website going for Andy & he beat Novak in New York & Djokovic had a 5 hour semi final, so you could argue that 4/7 isn't that great a price, but I personally think having watched them through this tournament that Djokovic will win.
  15. He really comes across as a piece of work doesn't he ? Pity we can't pickle him in formaldehyde.
  16. As I mentioned earlier in the thread somewhere, have worried about David's chin since the Camarelle fight in the Olympics. I like Price, so tried to convince myself that it was different training / styles in the pro's etc. but was conning myself. Disappointed I never went with my head on the 7/2 for a Thompson win.
  17. Or you could just put £60 on him to win at 4/7 & win £105 if he does. Don't forget you also lose your 2 x £20 failed bets in your scenario. Don't really get your point ST . Am really annoyed at Ladbrokes ( and myself ). Got an e-mail offering me a matched bet of £25, so put £25 on Djokovic 3-0 with the idea of putting the matched £25 on Djokovic 3-1. The site wouldn't let me & when I read right down the e-mail, the matched bet only becomes available once the original bet is 'settled'. Be careful if you get offers like this.
  18. Was at a cash machine in town years ago when a big 4x4 pulled up & Stephane got out of the passenger side. His wife / girlfriend got out of the driver side, gave him a peck on the check & got off. She was absolutely stunning. Henchoz was OK with everybody around us & gave a wave, but it was his lady friend who made the most impression.
  19. Well that trumps Souness sticking a flag on the half way line in Turkey doesn't it.
  20. Being linked with Xabi again in a few papers. £10m quoted seems a bit steep for a 31 year old.
  21. Got a really good run out of all 3 of them ( Andy bleeding Murray ruined both of my men's wagers !!!) but always felt Bartoli's odds were very tempting. I felt a bit sorry for her to be honest, she has been brilliant & battered her way through everybody without losing a set & has been totally ignored by the BBC ( The website didn't even mention her last 16 game in their covering article - just the other 7 games ) all fortnight, presumably because she doesn't belong in the Sports-Illustrated bikini issue.
  22. Jesus wept. Some people are glass half-full & expect signings to be decent and hope to be proved right. Some people are glass half-empty & expect signings to fail & hope to be proved wrong. Are there any real transfer movements / rumours ?
  23. To me, Ward is the best pound for pound boxer at present & as he is also heavier than GGG so you would have to go with him strongly. Golovkin has looked brilliant lately, but he is 31 and Matthew Macklin is still the best professional opponent he has ever faced. I don't honestly think that you can be considered at the Ward / PBF sort of level at present with those stats. Sergio Martinez seems the next step towards that sort of recognition if he can get it arranged. Think Price will win a boring fight on points or a late stoppage. Is it on Sky or Boxvision btw ?
