  1. When he was made manager before he had never managed .....EVER..turned out well enough though didn't it...
  2. We finished 2nd when the league was there for the taking....we finished 2nd cos of his caution in the middle of the season. The last few months of the season showed what the players could actually do with the leash taken off...2nd was not much of an achievment for him when I believe he cost us the league.
  3. It's on BBC's website that he is now 'tipped to return next week'...big fuckin surprise there then....
  4. totally agree with you....he was injured the same fuckin way Aquilani was 'injured' for Benfica...and yet here he was today coming on apprently fit...i'd ask questions about his ...'virus' for the Wigan game (I think) as well...Rafa is getting caught up in bullshit P.R moves now..
  5. I see what you are saying to a point but I get frustrated when people talk about last season. Yes, finishing 2nd can be seen as progress but really, I think Rafa cost us the best chance of winning the league we've had for twenty years. His cautious approach at that crucial mid point of the season cos us the points that meant we didn't win it. When United started to motor and he was forced to let the players of the leash we were great, ie. Villa, 5-0, but before that, he was too cautious, would not gamble and he cost us that league when it was there for the taking....is that really any kind of achievment??
  6. So it's not a literal quote...I would have thought that would have gone without saying...fer fux sake...I am talking about that kind of sentiment.
  7. I can't fuckin stand this....I'd rather finish 16th so we can all just be top scousers again...BOLLOCKS. What is being a Liverpool fan all about you ask..well since Shanks it's been about supporting a side that at least tries to create " a bastion of invincibility", he was about excellence and winning and he wasn't from Liverpool.
  8. Red one....Meh White one...class Black on...shite (all black shirts are)...
  9. I know what you mean. My Grandad and Dad were and are from Toxteth and my Grandad especially would get so offended by the way people talk these days, he actually sounded really well spoken by comparison, these pricks would probably have caled him a "wool"!
  10. I'm from Ellesmere Port, born to a Scouse Dad, a squirrel Mum and with Grandparents from Liverpool, Shropshire and Dover.... first game was in 1979,I would be happy if one of the oh-so learned superfans on here could fill me on what I am??..
  11. whatever anyone's thoughts are on the big picture overall...if you are not even prepared to concede that we have been playing awful football then there really is no talking to you or those that think the way you do, blows my mind...
  12. IS RIGHT...... Some people need to re-learn what "the Liverpool way" actually is, or at least the main part of it is. Yeah it's great that as fans we are a bit different, we have the Scouse humour and more class than most others...but the MAIN part of 'The Liverpool way' is winning things. Anyone remember the "bastion of invincibillity' quote? What the fuck was that supposed to mean then? Shankly wanted to win things above all else, not finish 4th or 'control the game'..he wanted to win the fucking game. Seems to me there are far too many reds these days all wrapped up in this phoney, sentimental "Liverpool way", the one where they are more concerned about being different than other clubs, being "the best fans in the world"...Like fucking Newcastle fans. Patting themselves on the back about how great they are and how no-one else is like them whilst thier club goes to shit. Sorry, but Rafa's tactics and many of his decisions have now started to betray what I understand is The REAL Liverpool way, ie. Excellence, pride, bravery, spirit, class, heart, dignity, not worrying who we are playing, WINNING and winning trophies....
  13. I remember Chelsea getting crows of 12,000 in that Shed in the 2nd division not so long ago. Danny Baker once described Chelsea as "a second division team who won the pools"...I think he's got a point. As a Chelsea fan today...with your corperate bollocks, plastic flags and cunts like Drogba in the team...I just don't know how, or why you bother...
  14. People talk about knee jerk reactions but this kind of question really makes you wonder about the people who blindly support Rafa. That's as much a knee jerk reaction as anything else. How can you watch that game today and then ask that question in all honesty? The team selecton was appalling. Totally killed any momentum we might have built up after the United game. As soon as you saw the team sheet you knew we were in for "one of those" afternoons. You can't take gambles like that with a squad that is not big enough or strong enough. Then he leaves himself with a bench that is simply not acceptable for LFC. Ryan Babel and some kids....we needed to win this game! Then he makes two totally baffling substitutions. Taking Torres off when its 1-1? Ok, he's not fully fit, but we need three points, you have to gamble on keeping him on and making a goal out of nothing as he had already done. then he brings on Eccelstone...for Benayoun? Fucking Voronin was still on and was his usual shit self, so just do a like for like and increase your goal scoring threat, it's not fucking hard. It really is the 'Emperor's new clothes" with some people. They just can't see and accept what is going on right in front of thier eyes. Everyone is grateful for Istanbul ect....but I am old enough to remember the other 4...with better players...and better managers...so when you see a shocking managerial performance like today's was, you just need at accept it for what it was. Weather you feel that's acceptable to you as A liverpool fans is up to you, that's your call, fair enough....but don't try and deny the fucking truth of what you have just seen.
  15. Babel should never be picked ahead of Yossi. I think Babel's "display" today was indefensable....how many more chanes does he deserve? I am no fan of Lucas but at least today he tried to take the cahnce that was given to him and played ok. I have NEVER seen a player in a red shirt with a worse attitude than Babel, he is just shocking. The window is till open and that should be is last game for us today...
  16. Some people are being a bit harsh on the young lads tonight. I thought they battled away well enough but it was clear that they were up against a team that was much further along in thier development. Some of the Arsenal players have been in and around the first team this season and we were 5-1 against to get the win tonight with the bookies. I thought Amoo had a good game tonight but I thought a few of them Froze, I could not work out weather it was lack of service to Della Valle or weather the ocasion got to him. I had been impressed with Kennedy in the previous rounds where he had shown leadership, he was shown up tonight for his lack of pace though. He needed a quicker centre back alongside him but unfortunately Ayala had a nightmare, I don't know how he stayed on the pitch tbh. It would have been great to get a better result but it's unfair to slag these players off too much, its more important what they learn from this and what it does to shape them as possible future professionals....I am sure that's the way Rafa will be looking at it. I get sick of hearing about Arsenal's fantastic young players but you have to say, fair enough, some of em looked different class to our boys tonight.
  17. Yeah...gutted to go fer sure but I was so proud of us tonight, the players...AND the fans more than anything.
