It wasnt a perfect peformance by any means but it was a performance to be proud of. I thought both Dirk and Babel were poor. We do play some very good football with this new formation. I also think there is less focus on Stevie Gerrard in that role and he can be more effective and allowed a bit more freedom to express himself. Its not like when he plays the advanced role supporting the main striker on his own, its a slightlydifferent role and on ethat suits hims. Today apart (obviously), a lot of our play goes through Masch and since his return Alonso therefore reducing the impact or rather responsibility on Stevie. Unfortunately today Pennant, Yossi or Lucas were not as effective as Dirk(!), Ryan and El Jeficito but we still won. Hopefully when Yossi gets used to the system he may adapt but I still dont think Pennant is good enough for Liverpool. That said we beat an admittedly woeful side without getting into 2nd gear.
