  1. Went to see my embarrassment in Cardiff. Absolutely awesome excitement and truly entertaining. Strobe lights, costume changes, terrific cover versions and an audience of screaming teenage knicker-wetters. Can’t believe I loved it. No name, no pack-drill but Ashley Cole must be gay.
  2. Surely that only applies to players, not supporters and fans. Players play, supporters support and fans fanaticise. Fantacising about winning our next three games isn’t going to influence the results unless you are a player. Get a grip, dream on.
  3. Breaking News. Sir Alex Ferguson says Howard Webb is not for sale at any price!
  4. John Hurts stomach ache in Alien and Mo Greens eye-test in the Godfather marginally beat Darrel Hannah’s death rattle in Blade Runner. Anything else is merely make believe.
  5. R5 just announced a midlands radio station claiming Torres has sacked his agent and withdrawn the transfer request. R5 unable to verify the accuracy of the broadcast. Anyone hear this from the Midlands area?
  6. I enjoyed his pre-match quip against the Mancs: Sky Plonker: This is not the ideal match for you to make your return debut. KK: It’s not ideal for them either!
  7. “My baby knows more about football than him.” Go get him Kenny.
  8. An Orvis Frequent Flyer 906-7. Trips off the tongue like a Harry Potter broomstick. Delivered yesterday. Always wanted one of these.
  9. Nice one Pal. The CD was ace, and the éclairs the mark of a class act. We must meet up at Anfield one day, I owe you a pint for each.
  10. Thanks for that, I’ll definitely look it up – much appreciated. I surfed for info on the band and came across a bizarre interview with Anton Newcombe. He’s seems completely bonkers in the finest tradition of ya typical rock star. Not that it matters, he makes wonderful music which is what really counts.
  11. Apols for not revealing myself earlier, unsure if it was the done thing. Nice review Pal, some you like – some you don’t, as it should be. That said, trashing AC/AC was a hard read. How could you? It’s little short of musical heresy in my view. Can’t wait to see what sort of music you sent your victim, has he reviewed it yet? Meanwhile, relieved to hear you got the CDs in time. Sorry about the artwork, that’s not my sort of thing. Typing and burning is the most I can manage on a PC. Thanks for taking the time to review my effort. As for thinking I was Fink...poor devil, he’ll probably sue you for that! Rep in the ether. Keep smiling.
  12. My Secret Santa CD was awesome. Artwork by a true master of the medium, most of the music I had never heard before and the big bag of Eclairs a subtle hint on how best to listen to the good stuff. The Magnum Opus was titled: You Know It Makes Sense Vol 1 and featured an unopened can of Heinz Beanz on the cover with a fresh pizza on the inner sleeve. Munchie music for the masses. Spliffed or sane, the music was some of the best I’ve heard in a long time. TLW Secret Santa 2010 – You Know It Makes Sense....Vol 1 1 Babel On – The Soundtrack To Our Lives Tremendous track and a superb opening to the CD. Had no idea which was the band and which the song. 2 The First Song – Band Of Horses Top class drumming & strumming. Loved it. 3 She’s Long Gone – The Black Keys Indie at it’s finest and well in keeping with the overall standard of the CD. 4 Mama Taught Me Better – Black Rebel Motorcycle Club Really enjoyed this track. Pleasure to listen to. 5 City With No Children – Arcade Fire The first track by a band I had heard of. Went to see them in Cardiff two days before the CD arrived. A brilliant live band and this track is one of their best. 6 Straight Lines – Charlotte Hatherley The track I was least impressed with. 7 Stelify – Ian Brown Not heard anything by Ian Brown since the Roses packed in. This track reminds me to correct that. 8 That Suicide Girl – The Brian Jonestown Massacre My favourite track on the CD by a band I never heard of. So impressed I treated myself to two of their CD’s: Smoking Acid and Bringing It All back Home Again. Money well spent. 9 Squares – The Beta Band Bizzare sound. Made me smile. 10 Let Her Dance – Bobby Fuller Four Pleasant easy listening but not quite as powerful as most of the tracks. 11 Glad All Over – The Dave Clark Five Drumming and leaping about stiff as it was meant to be. Larfing my head off when I heard it first. 12 Sunday Morning – The Velvet Underground Not a big fan of this band, but this track not bad. 13 Proof – I Am Kloot Unusual track which gets better the more I hear it. 14 Pearly Dewdrops Drop – Cocteau Twins Huge fan of this band and the only song which I already had on my I-Pod. A modern classic which reminded me of Ian Banks quip in the Crow Road: You know you are stoned when you start analysing the Cocteau Twins lyrics! 15 Feel Flows – The Beach Boys Never heard this song before or realised how inventive they were. 16 The Toll - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club Second track from this band. Not familiar with them but fully intend to buy a CD. Excellent listening. 17 Come Together – Primal Scream Was expecting a cover version of the Beatles classic. What a pleasant surprise. Overall a great CD and genuine thanks to the sender for widening my music horizons. No idea who sent it, not even a clue on the envelope. Whoever it was, I get the impression it’s from a kindred spirit with a wicked sense of humour. Happy new year to you sir, the CD was much appreciated.
  13. Received mine this morning from someone with a wicked sense of humour. Some truly inspired artwork, songs from Arcade Fire and the Dave Clarke Five, plus a giant bag of chocolate éclairs! Xmas doesn’t get any better than this. Full track listing plus review to follow.
  14. Glengetty rules. Expensive yet unbeatable. Anything else is diluted herb juice and probably blended.
  15. Include “Work” by RJD2 on this year’s gift, it would be a crime against Christmas not to. Done some serious smoothing to that since you sent it.
  16. Oh Pal, can’t you spell Plewggs, or have you got an attitude problem? Why aint I on the list? *Never had this problem wiv the Sweed*
  17. I received a 3-part CD compilation from Paul a few years back. Each one a minor classic which I still regularly listen to. Whoever gets him this year should insist on at least four. In the spirit of Xmas, at least one CD should be sent for each year the sender has participated in this jamboree. Speak for yaselves, but I enjoy a freebie at Xmas.
  18. A Solero. It was so good I’ve bought one every day since. It’s heaven on a stick. Amen.
  19. Got a cousin in Newcastle who bedded Sting. Says the only thing she can recall was: he's got a small one. I'm sure you all wanted to know that.
  20. Heard this on R5 yesterday. The pilot of the plane that flew the Reds to Napoli was a former guitar playing member of heavy-metal rock legends Iron Maiden. Seriously! The reporter said the flight was OK but the landing, “wasn’t the best”. How awesome is that? I was well impressed, and regard it as an omen of impending good times. Can anyone match this for utterly pointless, yet somehow inspiring, Reds-related trivia?
  21. R4 claiming it was bought in Bristol. Hope it's Coventry. They haven't got a zoo or a gorge. Lady Godiva and a nice Cathedral are no compensation.
  22. If say we get an extra 15k seats (so 65k) how does that bring in less income than building a 65k seater stadium? Our current capacity is 44k. Building an additional 15k seats does not total 65. I have an A level in doing sums, I know these things. I also don't see how cheap short term options will appeal to NESV as they are here to make money so them missing out on potential improved revenues makes no sense. A short term solution is appealing as, in the near future, Premiership clubs will be able to negotiate their own contracts for broadcasting live matches in the Far East. It’s why English clubs are such an attractive investment. If Henry does nothing to expand capacity, live TV contracts will still increase revenues. NESV do not need to build a new stadium to generate increased revenue, the Far East TV contracts will provide that and give them a worthwhile return on their investment. Our main rivals will also get a slice of this TV money which, in addition to their bigger grounds, will ensure they have more funds for transfers and player contracts than us. We need a new stadium to match our rivals, anything less will see us struggle to compete.
