  1. I agree completly. United are famous for getting that one goal in a hard fought game and it makes up the difference over the course of a season. We've lacked the conviction and aggression to keep at teams constantly until the ball's in the net. We tend to push up too much and not let the defence move out to create space. When defences are up agains't the wall, Keane is exactly the sort of player you need to 1-2 or play through balls to get into niggly gaps in the back. We've lacked players of his style/calibre since luis left. Only I think keane is better at the position than Garcia, especially in the prem.
  2. Because he's an incredible forward? With a decent goalscoring ratio. Kind of like houghton
  3. Italy were poor though weren't they? They didn't really deserve to make it to penalties, They kind of just found themselves there.
  4. Gillett and Hicks did the right thing here from a business perspective. With the amount of money they have invested all over the world the oil crisis would of hit them along with the american dollar credit crunch. They would of been told about this months before the news and media started reporting it by their financial advisers. It makes sense for them to ride that wave until it dies down before putting their money in. It probably would of cost double its market value in construction machinery, maintainence and running costs to do it when they promised than it will now. Considering they tend to put debt onto the club/business that their investing in. Im kind of glad they waited until the worst was over before investing in the stadium. Otherwise we really wouldn't be signing anybody.
  5. Ryan Babel frustrates me too. I see what the fuss is about but he's not delivering on the abilities people are praising him for. Burning pace for taking people on and a lightning shot. I've noticed something about him though, he's better at taking people on when he has his back to them. Thats the tell tale signs of a centre forward but he definately has a confidence problem. His main problem is he's afraid of messing up. Even though he played left and right wing/forward for Ajax and then us. Rafa demands more closing down and tracking back than he's ever had to endure. At Ajax he was allowed to play with his own attacking mindset leading counter attacks ( You can see why from the Arsenal game). Here he's working as part of a unit as a supplier more than the spearhead. For the first time in his career someone wants him to change his game from everything he's ever done to suit his formation. That takes time, coaching, adapting and then confidence to perform in. I think he'll come good but can you imagine having your new boss and all his coaches constantly telling you to close down and keep certain shapes with the rest of the team. Playing football at a faster pace than your used to is hard on your lungs. That sort of positioning needs to be drilled into you. Getting something drilled into you by your new boss and all his friends while the rest of the people around you already know what their doing would be hard on a kids confidence. He's through the storm. It's time to see what hes got in the tank
  6. Former England manager Steve McClaren has accepted the job of FC Twente coach after failing to find a suitable post in his homeland. The ex-Middlesbrough boss's stock in England plummeted after he failed to guide a team of big names to Euro 2008 and he was sacked by The FA. After talks with Blackburn Rovers, the Ewood Park outfit look set to turn to Paul Ince instead and McClaren has opted for a spell in Holland. Twente have reached the Champions League preliminary round after a shock win over Ajax in the Eredivisie play-off. "I have accepted a two-year contract to be the new manager of FC Twente in Holland," he said in a statement released to the media on Friday morning. "It's an exciting new phase in my managerial career and I can't wait to take up the challenge. "My assistant will be Eric ten Hag and I look forward to working with him and the players. "It's great to be back in management and I'm relishing the opportunity and challenge that lies ahead." Jesus it's intense what managing England can do to a pretty decent career.
  7. "The reaction was so profound that we have to tone it down," he said. "No, I hadn't [expected the reaction]. It was amazing, notwithstanding that soccer is the leading sport in the world. It was shocking how popular Liverpool is and it did surprise me. "It was an amazing response. We hold these assets in trust for the fans and have an obligation to the fans and I feel that very strongly, both in Montreal and Liverpool. "Developments? No, nothing that either I would talk about or be worth talking about but it's fair to say there has been communication between the Hickses and the Gilletts. It has been substantially improved and I believe it will be for the benefit of the club. "Time is a healer and there were things that happened previously the other way as well, when it took a while for both of us to realise, I think we both realised, that perhaps we weren't communicating very well. "It is a huge responsibility we have to the fans to do the right thing for the club and I believe the Hickses and the Gilletts are communicating better with us and us better with them. And that'll be better for the club. "I'm not going to comment on things specifically," he replied when asked if the 'for sale' signs were up at Anfield. Gillett is looking forward to supporting Benitez during the transfer window. "All of us are focused on the transfer window coming up and so forth," he stated. "We want to be ready for that and have adequate resources and good communication with Rafa. "Our hope is we're making that kind of progress." When quizzed on Liverpool's performance last term, he replied: "I'd rather the fans make that decision, but the club has a history of winning trophies. "Any season you don't win one of the trophies we compete for, I suspect, the fans as well as Hicks and Gillett, are disappointed. "Overall, I thought the team played quite well, particularly beginning and late [season]. "I think they were very representative and Fernando Torres was a wonderful, wonderful selection last summer. The rest of the boys played quite well but we've got to help Rafa try and compete in the chase for The Premier League."
  8. Im quite annoyed with you gayer, I was coming into this post to say "anyone that doesn't rate Bullard knows fuck all about football" and should stop posting, I've seen a few that deserve negged for talking shit. Id pay anything up to 11 million for him, Hes fucking quality. Something to look at, Bullard gets injured for 6 months, Fulham in a relegation battle. Bullard comes back from injury, Fulham survive the drop. It was mostly todo with him he will be an excellent signing. Of course the step over brigade will say im full of shit but what do they know they want quaresma?
  9. Rembrandt his ability to paint textures, shadows and capture lighting. Anyone that can take a paint brush and create real life is a genius.
  10. I lost my virginity to my best friends girlfriend. Im a disgrace
  11. I laughed at his name too tonight. Repped
  12. The washington sniper definately for me, He can shoot from anywhere. And OJ Simpson he was always safe as houses with a pair of gloves. Chris Benoit too, He's brilliant in the air. Jesus christ forgive me im going to hell
  13. I can see him making a difference. Hes a far better attacking threat than Alonso. He will add a completely new type of play. Barry is comfortable in center midfield but when were attacking 10 men behind the ball you need players to overlap your wingers to get in behind. Barry makes those runs as hes comfortable playing on the left or right wings or wing backs. Thats something Xabi can't do, He's not that versatile & never had the pace or first time cross down the wing. He was always slower than Gerrard too, So he never overlapped him to add an extra attacker the way lampard does for chelsea. Barry probably wont do it as well as lampard either but he will do it better than Alonso could.
  14. The style of game over there might suit him more. I wish him all the best.
  15. Thats unfortunate, Their driver is as inconsistent as them. Henry had a shocking tournament.
  16. Yeah for one game but with their performances in the uefa cup and early exit meant they played less games than us and realistically couldn't charge as much for uefa cup football as we could for champions league.
  17. Nah im not annoyed at all. The olympics is a great event. Mascherano is the only one there we would honestly miss with a lengthy injury.
  18. HEY! Go easy, It's expensive to finance Harry Kewell's cool world
  19. Dude your wii mii is my wii mii's identical twin. Every feature is exactly the same. If you made it to look like you. Then we might be identical twins.
  20. ww2 leaves millions of jews homeless. Allied forces read the bible. They give them back the holy land. Palestinians get pissed off and rightfully so.
  21. Well it is explained. If you plant 50,000 protestants in a catholic country, take their houses, their language their culture and force your own. Your gonna cause a rivalry, Its not because of your religion, Its because you've been an asshole.
  22. Religion doesn't come into football. Blaming religion on the Celtic & Rangers rivalry and Northern Ireland is like quoting the idiots guide to understanding rivalry. Celtic and Rangers hate each other because they are both based in Glasgow. If they were all catholic or all prodestant that wouldn't change. They would still be rivals. And even at that, None of its to-do with religion. It just happens to be cut 50-50 by religion. Thats the fault of the plantation of English protestants in Celtic catholic countries. EG, in scotland and northern ireland. And the Catholic ancesters even today want to be independant from Britain. Eg Celtic fans, and the prodestant plantation ancesters want to honour their history and remain part of Britian. Eg Rangers fans. Which is why you will see Union Jacks in the rangers end and scottish flags in the Celtic. Its about soverignerity, not arguing over if mary got porked by Joseph or god.
  23. Sky Sports have completly butchered that interview and changed it to this. Torres - La Liga is the best Three English teams have reached the semi-finals of this season's UEFA Champions League, but Torres insists that the Spanish top-flight is the best in Europe. Torres joined Liverpool last summer from Atletico Madrid and has made a blistering start to life in England as he notched his 30th goal in all competitions in the Reds' 3-1 win over Blackburn on Sunday. And Torres has hinted that he has found it easy to acclimatise to his career in England, when compared to his days in Spain. Strong "In England the top four are better than the ones in Spain, above all when it comes to consistency," Torres told Radio Marca. "Apart from that, the rest of the teams in the Primera Liga are stronger as they have more quality." Torres has also admitted that he is enjoying the patience afforded by English supporters. "The fans aren't on top of you all the time here, they give you time, they get behind you but don't suffocate you. I'm very happy here," Torres added.
  24. That chance will make us ease off the pressure. Getting caught too much at the back
