  1. I know tell me about it. We could have played an extra nine fucking hours at Ewood Park that day and still not have scored. Saying that though, at least we created the chances- it would have been harder to take if we had played as poorly as we did against the mancs or Arsenal. Just one of those games.
  2. I was made up with the performance against Bolton, as I'm sure everbody was. Nice to see us finally play our own game against Bolton instead of trying to match them physically. We simply outclassed them and Jaska- Jaasker- their 'keeper was the reason for Fat Sam not being humiliated. I fucking hate Sky Sports though- they spent the pre- match build-up stoking the fires;trying to stir up even more trouble between us and them with Rafa's comments etc. Even the commentators couldn't stop mentioning it, as if they seriously hoped Bolton would win so they could say "I told you so". Twats. Anyways, Blackburn aside, it was a relatively good Christmas for Rafa's lads. Good stuff let's see what 2007 brings. Another Champs League win perhaps?
  3. Tbh, I don't think Hnery turned down Barca so much as he burned a very big bridge to them with his behaviour in the CL final. He was petulent and arrogant, and looked like he seriously pissed them off. Especially with what he said about them after the game- made any smooth transfer to them nigh on impossible. As for the rumour mill, I always enjoy hearing the shite that the press/media come up with- my mate said he heard that Beckham would sign when the Dubai takeover goes through. Crazy. I'd love to see Henry at Anfield. But I seriously doubt that will happen.
  4. From Airplane: "You have to fly this plane, and land it" "Surely you can't be serious" "I am serious. And don't call me surely" From The Naked Gun: Drebin: "We have a killer, now all we need is a motive" Ed: "Sex, Frank?" Drebin: "Er... not right now, Ed" From BlackAdder: (after Bladrick's 'boom, boom' song) BlackAdder: "Well Baldrick, it started off badly, then tailed off in the middle, and the less said about the end, the better"
  5. Kasabian- "Empire" The Fratellis- "Costello Music" The Beatles- "Love" The Feeling- "Twelve Stops And Home"
  6. MOST PLEASED WITH: The fact that we had a 'Gerrard to Chelsea'- free summer; The FA cup win; The standard of goals being scored in the Premiership these days; England's pitiful yet hilarious world cup 'performance'; Our European form. LEAST PLEASED WITH: The cheating that goes on in the Premiership; The English media/press (but then, they're always gobshites.); Match of the Day; Our postition in the league despite so much promise at the start of the campaign. BEST PLAYER: So many candidates! Any from Cannavaro, Zambrotta, Gerrard, (25 goals out of position), Matthew Taylor, Gareth Barry, Puyol, Ronaldhino, Daniel Alves.... WORST PLAYER: Again, a glut of 'players' to choose from: John O' Shea, Frank Lampard, Salif Diao (although technically, you have to at least play to be called a crap player), have to agree on Michael Brown, Rio Ferdinand.... BEST PUNDIT: Not so many to pick from here though! I like Leonardo on MOTD. He constantly has to put up with Lineker and Childs coming on to him, and he deals with Wright really well- by ignoring him. And he gives honest and frank opinions, without any bias. Get him on full time BBC! WORST PUNDIT: Ian Wright, no question. I mean, Lawro and Jocky have irked me of late, but this guy is a grade 'A' wanker. BEST MANAGER: Steve Coppell has done a great job at Reading, likewise Paul Jewell at Wigan (and the bitters hate him which is amusing). I like Pearce it's just a shame he has a crap squad; Frank Rijkard. But for me it has to be Ian Holloway, simply for his interviews and the way he deals with the press. The guy is a legend, get him in the Premiership! CHAIRMAN: I think Dave Whelan at Wigan is a good chairman, always backing Jewell, and using money wisely. TWAT: Far too many to choose from. Drogba, Ronaldo, Kenyon, Mourinho, Lampard, John Racist Terry, Ben Thatcher, Robben (basically all of the Chelsea squad), Ferdinand (both)..... GOAL OF THE YEAR; Has to be Gerrard's 2nd against West Ham (Although his first was pretty good as well, considering where he ran from and the height of the ball as it met his foot) Also worth a mention: Matthew Taylor vs. Everton, Drogba vs. Everton, Drogba vs. Liverpool, Scholes vs. Villa, Argentina's 'team goal', Torsten Frings vs. Costa Rica, Alonso vs. Luton Town, Alonso vs. Newcastle. Roll on 2007
  7. Bono is a sanctimonious, ego-centric wanker. Perhaps, next to Russell Brand, the biggest twat on the planet. I lost interest in the Queen's honours years ago- there's no consistency; how can Ferguson claim a knighthood and yet Paisley and Shankly recieved nothing? Obviously this argument has occured before so I'll leave it there. But as for Bono getting a knighthood, well that is fucked up. This country's going to the dogs I swear.
  8. What you have to remember is that Rafa is building a side here. Shanks had to do it after the previous manager had left a ruined side, and it took time. The new players have to settle, and that isn't easy. Maybe- maybe- the league is out of reach, but I'm not going to point the finger and say Rafa isn't good enough. I have full faith that Rafa will bring us the league title, but it isn't going to happen overnight now is it? We can still have a successful season, finish in the top three, perhaps win a cup, and qualify for the CL- which will be perfect for when this takeover goes through- Champs League and a lot of money for 2007/08. Sweet
  9. Aye the pogramme has gone down the nick. I don't mind MOTD 2 though, it's quite light humoured and they don't take it as serious as Lineker, Lawrenson, etc.
  10. We'll do them. I'm strangely confident that we will be in the draw for the quarters. My head says "It's Barca, they'll win" but for some reason I'm not listening to rational judgement. Rafa will be well up for it, as will the players. Rafa may still be cutting his teeth as far as the Prem is concerned, but the Champs League is a different matter entirely, he knows his way around this competition! I reckon we'll keep it tight at the Nou Camp, and then we'll do them at home. The Anfield crowd has to be worth at least a goal on a European night. We'll win, im sure of it. Incidentally- Chelsea and United both got two of the weakest sides in the tournament. Are UEFA trying to make it easy for them seen as how they have failed miserably in the past three years? My mate said to me that we may as well get one of the big guns out of the way early, that way there's less chance of meeting them in the final. Good thinking!
  11. Reina Finnan Agger Carragher Warnock Pennant Gerrard Alonso Riise Kuyt Bellamy We shouldn't be playin Gonzalez away from home he's too lightwieght. Hyypia needs a break I reckon we should really blood Dan Agger now, he's proven he's good enough he was outstanding against Chelsea. Sorry Sami. Get Stevie Warnock in as well right now we need heart and determination- He has both in abundance. It would be good to see some enthusiasm. Pennant did alright when he came on against Arsenal and Boro's ropey defence may be the perfect time for him to start proving his worth. Kuyt and Bellamy are our best chance of getting goals at the momnet, Bellamy looks confident again after the Wales game in the week.
  12. I reckon Hyypia was more to blame for the free kick to be honest. Reina has made some gaffs but lets not forget he's 23, very young in goalkeeping terms and he will only get better. I personally reckon he is a far better 'keeper than Jerzy. In fact, if Rafa wanted to change a keeper, I'd rather bring back Carson.
  13. Diouf is a despicable little piece of shit and Bolton are welcome to him. He is one nasty prick and I hope his career gets ended Nillis-style. Horrible fuck. I wish that Celtic fan would have got up and twatted him that year- or De Zeeuw when he spat at him. Or even Momo yesterday should have laid the gobshite out.
  14. Not wrong there; he has one of them faces you just want to smash in with something blunt and heavy, but I reckon he could become one of the best players in Europe.
  15. Have to disagree with Aurelio and Riise if its form you're talking about- Aside from that strike against Spurs Riise has been shit so far. Likewise Aurelio; other than that peach of a cross for Crouch's first against Galatasaray, he hasn't done anything to impress me. Okay, he needs time to adapt but Riise shouldn't have any excuses he has played for us long enough- his positional sense is absolutely shocking. The strange thing is, he is a far better player than what we've seen so far this year, much like Xabi- although the latter has started to improve of late. I really hope Riise improves, and quickly.
  16. It may already have been said here but fuckin hell what a strike that was for his second. I saw it when I was out last night, and I was hammered, so I thought that I may have exaggerated the brilliance of it- but I saw it again this morning and it was just unbelievable.
  17. I'd go for: Reina, Warnock, Carragher, Agger, Finnan, Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko, Garcia, Kuyt and Crouch. There are a few reasons why I chose Warnock- firstly, he would die for the cause, and he never shirks tackles (despite two appalling leg breaks already in his career), and his positional sense is far, far better than that of Riise, who just wanders off every now and then and it pisses me off. Garcia is in there because he is one of those players capable of a moment of magic that can win games. The rest speak for themselves really- including Agger, who has been immense this season. Crouch and Kuyt simply because both are better than Bellamy on the evidence so far. Kuyt could be a really great player for this club.
  18. Tbh what he said makes some sense; some consistency would be a good idea. I know Rafa is thinking about the amount of games across all competions this season, but a regular spine throughout the side would not be a bad idea- i'm thinking of Reina, Carragher, Gerrard, Sissoko and Kuyt. So maybe not nine players, but Lawrenson does have a point. As much as it pains me to say it, Chelsea would never rotate Lampard, Terry, Makele, Carvalho, and thus they achieve consistency. Having said that I am always behind Rafa and if the rotation pays off at the end of the season, then great- however I doubt that we can win the league with three defeats.
  19. Performance wise I don't think we played TOO badly; seemed to me that we were well on top before the daft decision that the linesman made for the free kick. Even after that we were the better side. Bolton are a bunch of alehouse players but they do the only thing they can do well, they mike life difficult for anybody. Conceding from a cross for the third time in two games was really disappointing. I know Reina has had his critics but the the two he conceded in the week, and the Campo one today, he could do nothing about. The defence just went walkabout again today. We should learn from our mistakes but we never seem to. Another disappointing factor today was Gerrard; not his performance as such, but he always seems to walk off in a sulk whenever the ball isn't played to him just right, instead of geeing people uo and encouraging his players on the pitch. Seems like he just gets a gob on all the time. For fuck's sake Stevie, SMILE. I think our best player was Momo again. Never shirked a tackle, never let the physical side of Bolton's game (their only side) get to him. Alonso and Pennant were disappointing but to say Pennant isn't good enough for Liverpool is a bit harsh; he needs to be more involved in the game, which means other players, like Xabi and Gerrard, to bring him into it. Elsewhere the performances were distinctly average. It's so frustrating to go into the international break after a result like that, but we just have to get on with it, and hope that the Panarama thing gets Allerdyce the bullet
  20. Four straight wins at home, and four of the best goals ever at that end thrown into the bargain! Just thought I'd point that out. Out of the four, what's your favourite? I'd have to go for Agger's, what a strike
  21. The BBC are idiots in general. Shearer is one of the biggest twats involved in football and I just turn off whenever he speaks. boring bastard
  22. Cheers for the info. And agree totally, top bloke
  23. It's probably already been said here but I was so made up for Clarke today. A truly great golfer and how he kept himself together is beyond me after what he has been through. Was choked up myself at the end when he won his match; he was trying to hold the tears back but- unsurprisingly- he couldn't manage it. The noise from the crowd was amazing and the support he got was immense. What a great player he is and what a top feller too. Chuffed for him. Oh, is it true he's a liverpool fan? My mate reckons so but I'm not sure
  24. Great way of looking at it i reckon. Catching Chelsea and United is going to be hard but the team is slowly getting better- we were unlucky at times today- hitting the post etc, and at other times simply wasteful; you'd have put your house on Gerrard hitting the back of the net from there. We were beaten by a wonder goal at the end of the day. But there are positives, for example Dan Agger- he looked brilliant again today, absolutely outstanding.
