  1. Owen is history at this club. Enjoy the memories and remember that players coming back for a second term rarely hit the heights of their first term. I wish him well and hope things turn out for the better.
  2. Works extremely hard outside of the box, very much a team player but his big downside appears to be the low number of goals that he is scoring at the moment and his movement inside the box. He deserves another season though, and I predict a greater goal return next season, after a summers rest.
  3. So did Widnes in today's game with Wigan
  4. You dont half talk shite pal. If you are clocked in Rugby League you walk or if there is doubt, put on report. The rules state in both codes , I believe, that it is a Red Card. The problem is, it is rarely enforced.
  5. It was not just the Main Standers was it though ? I think a lot of reds have short and selective memories: Rewind to Liverpool v Southampton. Most of the ground applauding a substitution of Danny Murphy because he was having a stinker as were most of the side that day but everybody loves a scapegoat. Come Tuesday, Murphy scores the winner against Man U and he is now Super Dan. He may not have been booed but he was 'jeered' in my books. What's the difference ?
  6. Taking the piss nowadays having a testamonial. We had 56000 for Sir Roger Hunt but he was hardly a millionaire and his generation had to work after retirement from footie. No need at all for this. However, if it is free to go in, I'll go.Now that's a good one, how about a testamonial for us fans who either pay through the gate, through Sky, through the club shop etc, etc.
  7. Used to think that myself but recent performances may suggest that our very best players who perform extremely well in the Premier League and for their club teams in European competition , lack the skills and nouse to perform in International Football. Perhaps they are over coached nowadays but they tend to lack the variety in passing and movement that is often required at this level. However, when I saw the starting 11 on Saturday, I thought we were playing Italy, not Israel. We dont produce decent coaches either, do we ?
  8. My old fellah said Liddle was the greatest that he had seen. In 1978 he conceded that Kenny was up there with him. Says it all for me that.
  9. The number of European Cups won by Real Madrid between 1967 and 1997, Zero. They were really in the doldrums for a hell of a lot of years and it is only the last 9 years that they have come back onto the big stage again. They won the first 5 European Cups but it was the Franco era , oh and they had Puskas and Di Stefano
  10. The Arsenal deal with Emirates changed the naming rights issue for ever. Coupled with American ownership, this will definately happen. Mind you the McDonald's in the Kop brought in enough cash to buy Heskey(bad example I know, what you get the gist) so if calling Anfield the Ethel Austin Stadium brings in mega bucks, then so be it.Still cant get my head around the fact though that the area would not be able to handle 80k.It's going to need some serious new public transport infrastructure investment to handle the extra fans.
  11. I do think though that getting upto 80k into and out of Stanley Park is going to be a logistical nightmare. There would have to be some serious public transport improvements along with the provision of secure park and ride schemes. For example, could Queens Drive cope ? I doubt it and the rat run going thru West Derby Village from the M62 (which I use for the midweek games) will just foul up.I do not think that Stanley Park area could cope with 80k and would be at full capacity at say 61/62k. Any thoughts ?
  12. With the exception of Dudek, all are Rafa's signings. Would you trust him then with the chequebook ?
  13. A bloody big Yippeee:thumbup:
  14. You are being too kind towards the Manager. He fucked up today big time with his team selection. Garcia would have made little difference today. He shines in the big games when something special is required. I agree, Villa were a poor side but where we much better ?
  15. Dean Windass and Brian Dean. Two of the most under rated world class strikers I have ever seen. written from cell 29, ward 37 Rampton
  16. As soon as the article mentioned Robinho, that was a wind up. That guy cant hack it in that overated pile of shite called La Liga, so what chance would he have here ?
  17. Lou Macari. Every time I see that little pile of shite on telly, I smile and give thanks that such an ordinary talent had the brains to turn us down us for a more successful club such as Manure. How many trophies did you win there Lou ?
  18. Good point! But everybody loves the Catalans , don't they ? I'd like him to stay but I always thought that we would only get about 3 or 4 seasons from Xabi.
  19. That season 1975/76 was the defining season for both the club and its greatest ever manager, Paisley. Many of us were unsure about life after Shanks but the way he changed our style of play was evident during that season. As you say, defenders such as Neal and Hanson starting attacks from the back, not by a hoof or a Holywood Pass, but by playing pass and move.Total football, I would call it, and things just got better!
  20. Our police are in general too fat and lazy to be bothered.Whatever happened to rentamob and the landrovers.
  21. Keep the limit at 60k then, agreed ?

I am more concerned about the amount of points we finish behind the eventual winners. We've gone backwards this season.
