    Liverpool FC is an asset of FSG. I wouldn't read too much into NYTimes selling FSG shares, the Times has been in financial distress, selling assets to get themselves survived until the better time is normal.

    I want Van Gaal. In 3/4 season, he and the club with part company, perhaps acrimoniously. But within that time, clear progress will have been made, with young players coming through, and a solid foundation for whoever inherits his reign.

    If I were an owner and someone tries to sell me that the Mickey Mouse League Cup was a credible benchmark of progress after spending 120 mils on new and replacement talents, I'd be furious. No, you don't get a trophy finishing 4th, but you get something much more important than Mickey Mouse cups -- cash, lots of it, which you need to reinvest and regenerate your squads to compete for trophies that matter.

    Ok, I'll bite. What's THIS? Nobody knows any detail and accusations already got tossed around like rotten eggs. The 24 hours time lag suggested to me Kenny didn't accept FSG's proposals -- whatever they were, and decided to walk.

    He's one of our best players. But that's more an indication how far we've sunk. He's gotten better, but we've also gotten much much worse.

    Hear hear. The last season with him in charge was pretty bad, but the one next to last was truly awful. Not only had we legitimately challenged for the title for the first time since '91 (we've never been that low in 2 decades), we were one of the most feared teams in Europe that consistently got to the quarter and semi finals. I mean, who can put up with THAT?

    Too true. Wishful thinkers now has him as the solution to all our problems "had Lucas been fit, we'd be top 4 easily". Many were the same fuckers that talked themselves into believing Downing was a good signing. Lucas is a decent player, but he's no world beater. YET. Hilarious and sad, but more sad than hilarious.

    It was well deserved. Tiote is a king of cheap, underhanded hits, or just reckless plays that force the opposition to flinch or get hurt. Now he just got a taste of his own medicine.

    I'd say the opposite is true. Carra is 2-3 years past his expiration date. Kuyt is still servicable.

    Given our rather ineptitude at running a football club and playing football, I fully expect this club to lose some, if not most of: Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Lucas, Kuyt, Johnson, Suarez, and perhaps also Sterling, Suso, and Coates. And we will have to take Cole back due to his gigantic contract, starting Carra another season. Gerrard will consider taking a pay cut to move abroad.

    And we know this because Downing and Henderson had been banging them in regularly for their previous clubs, right? Oh wait ... A more decent striker than Carroll might have better masked the ineptitude of Downing and Henderson, but alas, they have Carroll and they were exposed for the fraught that they are.

    Good luck getting that pony to race. You're on your own on that one. If not for Carroll, Downing would be the worst transfer ever. 20 millions quids for a proven failure. Henderson's contribution had been on par with Leonhardsen.
