  1. Meh. If my company was paying another company £20m a year to be associated with them, I'd probably want a say if a PR situation had been as badly handled as this one. We take their money, we can't expect them to just be quiet.
  2. Get off the train at Euston Walk to Euston Square Tube Station (5mins) Take the Metropolitan line to Wembley Park Simples.
  3. Don't usually disagree with much in your match reports, but I thought your assessment of our performance was a bit harsh, especially in relation to the first half. We weren't brilliant, but i thought we did our job in the first half, by and large. I can only really remember United threatening once through Scholes' header and we had our own chances to threaten but the end product wasn't there. With that said, our main job in the first half was not to concede and we achieved that. Unfortunately, the plan went to shit when they scored in the 2nd half. We never looked like getting anything out of the game then. I agree with you on Carroll and Bellamy, both should have played. Carroll is especiallly hard done by as he has really started to improve lately and show signs of life. He may have been ideal for this game as well as he's the only player we have who can act as a target man up front and give us an outlet when we are coming under pressure from them. I'm not going waste energy on the handshake stuff. It's clear that the media have made up their mind who was in the wrong and it's telling that the emerging video evidence has not yet been discussed on any of the reports I've seen this morning. The only positive to take from the whole day is that Chelsea and Newcastle lost so it hasn't costed us as much as it might have.
  4. No, you're right it doesn't. That's why there is a plethora of people from ethnic minorities in positions of influence in the country. That's why there are no race hate crimes. That's why parties like the BNP don't exist anymore. Oh wait... Racism still exists, only it is just more subtle because the law is much stronger against it. On the issue of whether you can describe people as 'black', I haven't ever met a single black person who minds that description if it is used in an inoffensive context i.e 'He's standing next to the black guy over there.'. However, if the word 'black' is followed by the word 'bastard' then it is obviously meant with negative conotations and is therefore fuelled by racism. Noos, you made comment earlier on the fact I only had 450 posts to my name. Pardon me for having a life and not having the time to be on here racking up my post count to impress you. I'll divorce my wife immediately so I can free up more time to have rough and tumble with you.
  5. Fear. That is Thatcher's legacy. De-regulation of the financial industry led to the wide spread availability of credit and fuelled rabid consumerism. Then, the 'right to buy' scheme for council houses came along, sparking a boom in the popularity of home ownership and the beginning of the end for affordable social housing. This all led to working people being scared to fight back in case they lose their job, default on their mortgage and can't afford to pay for the new car they have just bought on the drip. It also led to the destruction of the sense of community which existed in many towns and cities across the country, as people retreated into their shells and began to live the 'there is no such thing as society' ethos which Thatcher promoted. She used to accuse the unions of blackmailing the country but the banks and 'the markets' have shown everybody what blackmail really is. Th unions were right to go to war with Thatcher and the NUM would have won in their struggle if other workers e.g. steelworkers etc. would have supported them. She used the power of the state and her own personal army (the Police), not to defeat Arthur Scargill as the media like to potray, but to destroy the lives of thousands of families in the North's mining communities. I hate her more than any other living person. The only way she should get a state funeral is if she is buried alive.
  6. rTI8s0H31ys Oh yes. Reminds of copping for birds in the school disco.
  7. Really? What bastards aye. Paying people for providing services instead of kicking them on the dole to claim welfare. That is economic lunacy. Thank God we have now got a Government who will follow a credible plan, a plan that will make the economy grow. A plan that will create jobs in the private sector for those sacked in the public sector. Oh.....:wallbutt:
  8. This quality of debate on this site has gone down the shitter compared to when I first joined. This thread is a new low. Don't understand why people are offended by racism? Slavery, discrimination and continued barriers to social progress not enough then? Strewth.
  9. Why? No evidence yet that the incident was race related and even if it was, LFC have one of the best records of anybody for welcoming fans of all races and backgrounds to Anfield and protecting them when they are there. I have had a Season Ticket for 5 years and have been going the match for 18 years and I haven't once witnessed any racism at the game, not once. If people are trying to tarnish the club, we need to be prepared to stick up for ourselves and not be scared of pointing to our record.
  10. Agreed. Seems pretty disrespectful to me and my first thought was that it was a dig against Trevor Hicks and others who have actively opposed standing. I may be wrong though.
  11. What about Suarez, Enrique and Bellamy? I'd also argue that Adam has played pretty well this season overall, although I acknowledge he's had bad games.
  12. Some people have got no perspective at all. We are playing Man City away. You know the team who are top of the league, have won 17 of their last 18 home games and have spent about a trillion quid on players? We might get beat, some players might not play particularly well but it doesn't mean that it is 'absolute fucking shit'. This bi-polar style of support that some people give is starting to grate on me.
  13. The penalty on Saturday was one of the most blatant that you will see this season. As said by other posters, if that foul happens outside the area then there is no debate. I've wathced Suarez for a season and a half now and the stuff that he gets branded a cheat for doing is called 'professional' or 'using experience' when other (English) players do it. Backing into defenders, drawing fouls etc. is part and parcel of the game and has been being used by strikers for years, with Shearer being an example. He's not a cheat, or at least no more of a cheat than other players. I'm angry that the drunken old twat has managed to tarnish the reputation of yet another of our players and I hope that the club defend Suarez because otherwise he could get fed up of this shit pretty quickly.
  14. What about the other parts of the article which he did get right? Are you not going to credit him for using the tools at his disposal to again promote the fight for justice? Or is defending that poisonous slag your priority? 'Saved us from the unions'? I won't even bother debating with you on that seeing as it's the FF. :whatever:
  15. Reina Alves Pique Carvalho Cole Xavi Alonso Iniesta Ronaldo Messi Suarez That is a first stab, but this is hard.
  16. Pace, good in the air, strong in the tackle and comfortable on the ball. I reckon if you let him get schooled alongside Carragher that he'll develop into a monster of a centre back.
  17. The poll misses out Martin Kelly, who I think will be the best centre back we have on the books if he is given a run there. Out of the choice you have given, Carragher and Agger, although it's likely to be Carragher and whoever else we might sign for the big games and then possibly Skrtel and the new signing for the more routine games. Agger won't break the habit of a lifetime and will still be injured for the majority of the games.
  18. This. Has to be one of my most bizarre experiences at the game. He's an institution though George and he has seen more great days and nights at Anfield than most I'd suspect.
  19. My apologies if it is already covered in the other thread. I thought that was only for stories related to us. Close this down if needs be.
  20. On SSN now. Citing family reasons for the decision, wants to live nearer to his daughters. Fair play if that is his real reason. He's been top notch for them since he's been there and you can't argue with anybody, in any profession who wants to put their family first. Hopefully he'll announce tomorrow that the real reason he wants to leave is to come to us!!!
  21. Don't know whether the thrust of that comment was aimed at me. If it was, I haven't said anywhere that anybody with a positive view on standing is any less of a fan than anybody else. I agree that you are not going to win this debate by censoring it. Evidence needs to be produced on the pro's and cons and a panel comprising of say supporters, football security experts and health and safety officials could be set up to examine that evidence and produce recommendations to the Government. This process could involve consulting with families of previous tragedies to make sure their voice is heard. If it was re-introduced, I think the decision on standing needs to be made on a club by club basis and LFC would need to be particularly careful about the feelings of Hillsborough families when making that decision.
  22. I agree with much of that obviously and nowhere have I said that standing was THE reason why people died. However, if it would have been all seater, the disaster simply wouldn't have happened. Over the last 22 years, seating has proved to be much safer for everybody involved and has contributed towards helping improve attitudes towards fans. You might not agree mate, but people coming on here and criticising some of the families who lost loved ones for having a strong opinion and expressing it is beyond the pale in my view. That was the basis of the original point I made and I stand by that.
