Even the games in hand they had from going to Tokyo and the Super Cup, which most thought would help us, actually worked in their favour in the end as they got to play them at a time when they knew they needed to win.

The European record means more to me than the league record, most likely because the last time we won the league I was too young to appreciate it, whereas I felt very much part of it in 2005. But records don't last forever. Even if they won it next year we could win it the next two and vice versa.

Have to pick you up on that - he's missed four, or possibly five, league games all season, one of which was through suspension. If he had been out for 2-3 months we'd have won the league.

This match reminds me of Spurs away in 01/02. Game 36, away to a decent London, similar distance behind the leaders and not looking like closing the gap despite being on a great run... Imperative we keep up the pressure. They've got City-Wigan-Arsenal in a week, anything can happen in those games.

Such a shame he's not going to end his career with us but it's a mark of the man he's still desperate to play every week at 35.
