  1. Looks a cracking talent this lad up front for the danish team. Would be worth a punt. I lool forward to seeing him bang in twenty goals for stoke next season.
  2. The old school Scouse accent was basically a Dublin/irish accent mixed with a Welsh accent with hints of Lancastrian thrown in to create a really lovely accent. Listen to Scouse accents from then (even the Beatles) and it's sad to see the way our accent is going. It isn't a surprise that it was one of the most popular regional accents in Britain back then. Our accent then spoke of song and warmth. The modern scally speaks of menace and aggression, despite the fact they would have gotten an almighty kicking in old school Liverpool.
  3. Wogan struck me as a decent man. He was a class broadcaster. That's the plaudits he deserves. Personally, i thought he was a bit of an Irish uncle tom licking up to the establishment at a time when the irish got a raw deal. Trevor McDonald is another. Each to their own because it's easy to judge Irish/West Indian/Asians who tried to become more English than the English themselves at a time when they were being stitched up left right and centre by the establishment and had to be far more talented to get anywhere than their English equivalent. Us scousers have our own mob of professional liverpudlians who couldn't give a shit about defending our city. They trade off our positive stereotypes but they were nowhere to be seen when it came to defending us post-Hillsborough or the Jamie Bolger case when we were portrayed as an animalistic community.
  4. Klopp knew what he was getting in to. He is like a personal trainer who sees beauty in miss usa 1986 who is now a 40 stone salad dodger. I think we have alot to look forward to once we bomb out 90 percent of the squad.
  5. You're irish so probably know more, but surely Coleman or McCarthy are the best irish players. For the record,Long is a decent mid-table premiership player who would be a good fourth choice for a top team. If he's being signed as a starter for next season, then i'm worried.
  6. Arumatic, shaqiri and bojan off stoke straight away. Payet and lanzini off west ham.
  7. Feel like acknowledging that he might come good is the equivalent of being two games away from winning a 25 game accummulator in the bookies and giving the wife the wallet to buy whatever she wants in town. Well in lovren though. Keep it up lad.
  8. Sad state of affairs when stoke and west have have 4-5 players i would love. Jesus west ham's youth team would give us a game.
  9. Lanzini is a very good player. I look forward to him being shite in a liverpool jersey in a season or two.
  10. True. We would have had knobheads singing the same shite too. I seem to recall a few choice phrases in pubs around the city from reds when we signed him. Barnsey did so much for diversity in the city - suddenly it was a lot harder to be racist if one of the greatest players in your club's history was black. I'm not saying a massive difference, but definitely a significant step.
  11. Rooney's biggest crime is to leave his boyhood club for the Mancs. As a Scouser, red or blue, that is unacceptable. I don't like him on the pitch and i don't think he has ever been anywhere near what the English media say, but by all accounts he isn't too bad a fella off the pitch. He has never been loved by the Mancs.
  12. I'm reading pep guardiola's book and it's obvious what a good manager van gaal was. In some ways, it's sad to see. I don't dislike butthead like Fergie or alot of the other Mancs. He's like a cracking heavyweight boxer from the late 80's getting battered in two rounds by a pub brawler. As for the Mancs, i despise them with all the hate that ISIS have for the state of Israel. They are scum. I was in the Stretford End last year when we got thumped 3-0 and easily 60% of them were giving us their Scouse reportoire. Only Chelsea can compete for the vileness of their fanbase.
  13. A team of solid midtable journeymen pros like Whelan and Shawcross and 3 top class players like Arumacic, Bojan and Shaqiri. A good manager too.
  14. The Celtic lads looked after us any time we went up there when we played them. They had alot of time for scousers and were very supportive of our fight for justice. Never any hint of bother and i know from speaking to my blueshite supporting family/friends, any time they went up to Glasgow, there was no bother either with Celtic. I met a few Rangers fans around the city. They were pretty sound. Alot of them liked chelsea...make of that what you will. Two massive clubs. Pity their rivalry is built on sectarianism. I'd veer towards Celtic Park but that's just my opinion.
  15. Didn't see the game but if he can go on a little 4-5 game winning run over the coming weeks, then we can be in the mix for the title. We have played away at all of the top teams and Stoke. That does count for alot. Of course, the elephant in the room is that we are gash when you would expect us to win comfortably and top class in the tough games. City are an Aguero injury away from being average. United are shockingly average, though they do have a great goalie and a good defence. Arsenal aren't anything special. If Sanchez and Cazorla are out, they could fall away badly. Chelsea will make a late surge for the top 4 but they're too far back for the title. I actually think Spurs are the most rounded team in the league. They lost at the Mancs in a game they deserved to win. Bottom line is that in a shockingly mediocre league, we could finish anything from top to 7th.
  16. This is a crap league and the most open in years. reminds me of being a kid and any one of 5 or 6 could win it, except this isn't a league like then with a manager like Shanks, revie or Busby(jurgen apart i reckon), or great players like Cally, charlton, giles and so many more. Whichever team bangs a run of 5-6 wins together on the trot and decent consistency over the rest of the season will win it.
  17. To be fair, a few of the Manc's ex players do seem sound enough. Wouldn't let giggsy anywhere near my wife though.
  18. Fair point mate☺though i do think that as fans we need to accept that if you give it, you have to take it. Case in point luis suarez...we love him but if the lad played for the mancs we would have hated him!!
  19. How exactly? He suffered racist and sectarian abuse for two hours from the Mackens and gave a bit back by waving his fist in the air. Fair play is all i can say. It's a liverpool football forum so i don't really care about a bang average premiership journeyman. I do feel pretty fairminded because i served in Derry (lderry to some) in the 70's.it was mental to say the least. Most of the other scousers i served there with were like myself from heavilly working class irish backgrounds. I came back hating the IRA for what they did to my mates, even if i still felt dead proud of my irish roots and that liverpool is a republic. Older age has made me see that while i will never like the IRA for obvious reasons, they were angels compared to the british establishment. I understand that McClean comes from the Bogside. I understand his sentiments.
  20. Feel sorry for wales missing so many players. They'll give south africa one hell of a game though. This will be won by no more than 5 i reckon. I think wales have another big performance in them. Scotland have good spirit and won't make it easy for australia. I think australia will win by 10-15 in the end though. I have this feeling that france will beat the all blacks. They're a mad bunch who seem to come together when it suits them or when they're underdogs. I think this could be a belter of a game....either that or the all blacks will win by 15. Ireland v argentina could be the best game of the lot. Two cracking sides that i love watching. If ireland had everyone fit, i'd have them by 5-8 point winners. Right now,it's a toss of a coin but i'm going to say ireland.
  21. I need 3 goals plus in this game to win 600 pound. Trust these two fucking knobhead clubs to fuck me over on a nice big accummulator and i have dwight mancy yorke analysing their misses. Aaaaaaargh
  22. Two incredibly poor teams in the context of the two clubs. Was talking with a mate of mine who was in the liverpool youth set up in the late 70s/early 80s and he was just saying how the liverpool reserves would have been easily a top 5 team back then. Crazy to think that when ray kennedy was moved on we had whelan and sheedy fighting to take over. Likewise if i was a manc, i'd be furious that after spending so much dosh, they have fellaini up front and even more annoyed that the belgian mophead is their most consistent player. If lovren plays we lose 3-1. If sakho plays we may get a result. Sakho isn't lawro or jocky, but a good defender and a far better option than a lad who is easily the worst player i've seen in a red shirt.
  23. Dejan makes me seem like a football god and i haven't been good since about 1981.
  24. Williams is a very good defender. Not so long ago i used to give birth to a canary every time he was linked to us. He might not be lawro or jocky but he's very good.
