  1. Unfortunately, Benitez is already playing people out of position. Gerrard as a "second striker" just doesn't seem to work (maybe except for the most terrible defenses like Newcastle's).
  2. Agree. But at least it shows that Benitez realises that he's made a mistake, and he cuts his losses short. Houllier would - at least in the last few seasons - cling on to his players and refuse to admit they were failures. He even started playing them out of position to see if they could do a better job for him there. Biscan as central back and Heskey on the wing, anyone?
  3. Bring them on. We defeated Juventus in 2005, so why shouldn't we beat Inter now? Zlatan will be looking for revenge for 2005, but we'll get even for 1965!
  4. Real Madrid now. Then Inter in the semi-final, just like in 1965. Let poetic justice be done. In between we'll thump Manchester United in the quarterfinal, just for fun.
  5. Ah... so that's why you left early from Andy's on that Saturday! Does that mean she will be considered an OOT by the RTK campaign?
  6. For me, finishing just above Everton is good enough. If Everton finish in 2nd place...:tease:
  7. Kurt, look no further than http://www.oreillys.no/ Located on Grünerløkka. Nice Irish pub, plenty of screens, Guinness and Kilkenny on draught, Carlsber, Erdinger Weissbier and Old Speckled Hen on bottles, hot dogs served at the bar or bring sushi from the Asian restaurant in the same building. Don't bring babies to eat as people may be somewhat surprised at that habit of yours. You have to be somewhat early to get a good seat as many Liverpool supporters have found this pub after a while. Are you going to Øyafestivalen on Saturday as well? You can catch Primal Scream right after the Villa match. Tomorrow I'll be watching Nine Inch Nails
  8. It's actually approx. 20 years old. Monty Python used it in one of their sketches ("no time to lose"). The draw could have been worse. All the supposedly weaker teams, perhaps except for FC Zürich, had already been drawn against other teams when our name came up.
  9. Nice rant and I agree with most of what you write and we definitely shouldn't sign Henry or any other Arsenal players. However: Hleb is from Belorussia, not Moldava. It doesn't change the conclusion though (although you seem to like communists) as he's probably a spy for Comrade Lukaschenko and you'd definitely not want to drink with him - you'd get poloniumed right away! From Switzerland: Chocolate, cheese and the Red Cross. And Swiss bank accounts, obviously. And Feldsclösschen lager is quite OK. Hm, this is almost turning into a Pytonesque "what did the Romans ever do for us?" tribute.
  10. Irvine Welsh's character "Juice Terry" has the following cure. Shag (you went to bed with a beautiful woman, of course) Shit Shave Shower Shirt (clean) Shandy (bit dodgy but it's on the list) Note how all remedies start with the letter S (sh actually), making the list easier to remember.
  11. Gary because I met him in our hotel in Istanbul after the CL final and he was ace.
  12. Visas are needed to go to Turkey, but in 2005 the final ticket was valid as a visa. The Russians could do the same thing. On stadia, what about Ajax's stadium in Amsterdam? Too small capacity?
  13. Riise is the kind of player every manager likes to have in his squad. He is strong, works hard, is versatile, and plays well (or at least OK) in most games. Riise's problem is that he's not good enough defensively to be a really good full back, and he's not good enough offensively to be a really good midfielder (nice shot but cannot dribble). Plus his right foot is almost useless. But if we can win the CL with Traore then we can most definitely win the PL with Riise!
  14. Don't ruin our hopes! But I think you're right. Atatürk takes 81,000 whereas the Olympic Stadium takes "only" 64,000. Does anybody know how many reds travelled to Istanbul?
  15. Hi UTM, long time no see! A ticket for free would be very nice indeed. A guy we met after the final in Istanbul told us he had arrived only a few minutes before kick-off, and just ran through the turnstiles without showing his ticket. "It's in my pocket" he told the inspectors and they just let him pass. Maybe that's a trick for people without tickets? Anyway, it's very reassuring to hear these stories. Hopefully I'll be able to get tickets for reasonable prices. The prices offered by Norwegian travel agents are insane (£2,000 for two hotel nights and the match ticket - flight tickets not included). How's life in Zürich, then? Still going to Nelson and Oliver Twist and getting the Feldschlösschens in?
  16. I hope you're right because I'm considering travelling and buying tickets off touts. But I find it hard to believe that prices will be as low as under €100. Does anybody know what the going price in Istanbul was? Or in Paris, for that matter? I'd just like to get an idea of a "ballpark figure". Thanks.
  17. Those prices are ridiculous. I consider going to Athens and buying a ticket from a tout outside the stadion on matchday. What do you think prices in the so-called "neutral" areas will be? Surely €1000 should be the absolute maximum?
  18. Makarov and Larionov are correct. The other three are Fetisov, Kasatonov and Krutov. Probably the best line ever.
  19. Mourinho: Kneel before the The Special One! Cole: You are The Special One, I bow before thee. Drogba: You are The Special One, I bow before thee. Wenger: Did he mean me as well? Crouch: I kneel to no man. Whatchagonnado?
  20. Drogba: How many fingers am I holding up? Referee: You silly twat, that's what physios say when players have head injuries, not when players are booked! Drogba (falls to the ground): Aaargh, my head! My head! It hurts!
  21. They were playing Getafe in the Spanish Cup. Getafe are currently on 9th place in La Liga, and have recently beaten Villareal 3-0 and drawn 1-1 against Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu. So that was quite a performance! But no match for Arbeloa, of course:thumbup:
  22. I found the draw scehdule in an old e-mail, and although it doesn't say I would guess from it that we're playing the 24th and the 2nd as ours is the "first" semi-final. However, the website of the Scandinavian Supporters' Club says that it's the 25th and 1st. They're usually reliable. Good for you, Tom. "Of course I would have taken you out even if your birthday were on the same day as the semi-final  "
  23. Sorry if this has been discussed on any of the other threads, but: The semi-finals will be played April the 24th/25th and May 1st/2nd. But has it been which teams play when? Will we* play the 2nd leg of the semi-final on the 1st or the 2nd of May? I know it will be played on Anfield*, but which date? *) assuming that we avoid complete disaster
  24. Sounds like a reasonable black market price to me. I'd definitely take it if I were in Eindhoven today.
