  1. Neither did the Gosport Hobby Store.
  2. Would love to know. Also puzzles me why some Twitterati like Jim Boardman are almost acting as Huang's attack dog.
  3. Probably due diligence/asked to prove funds - shat himself.
  4. There's lot of em. Slag off Moores but have similar haste to believe any old snake-oil seller.
  5. Cue some boo-hoo PR from Huang tomorrow.
  6. So many pro's and con's. It would be difficult to find a player that works as hard as Dirk but a player with more craft would be handy. That said, given we're going to play ugly under Woy then surely Dirk iss the perfect player.
  7. Ban him. He's dropping javascript into some threads. Turn your jaascript off if forwarded to linkbee. (add this to banned domains).
  8. Very true. I'm puzzled as to what many of those trumpeting Huang are basing this on? His bid seems to be smoke and mirrors with a lot of vague talk but no mention of where the finances are coming from. Ok, CiC understandably may not wish to talk for political reasons but where's the rest of the money coming from? We may swap one leveraged buyout for another.
  9. In terms of helping a Russian billionaire buy a club on the verge of bankruptcy - Trigger from Only Fools could have pulled that off. Kenyon's job was by his own boasting to make Chelsea self-sufficient and the biggest club in the world - yet it's still a money-pit for Roman and owes him hundreds of millions. Huang is good at the PR (aided by a clique of Liverpool fans trumpeting him) but unless he puts some meat in the sandwich and makes his bid credible he should be treated with caution.
  10. Girl with the Dragon Tattoo 8/10. Engrossing thriller, like a convoluted episode of Wallander without the tinted lens. Another good film for Hollywood to destroy.
  11. Think there'll be a few spivs trying to get involved but the club do seem to want the genuine article.
  12. I get the feeling Hughes is jockeying himself into a position where he can come out of the coalition with his reputation in tact. Watch yer back Cleggy. Coalition marks 100 days – live | Politics | guardian.co.uk
  13. I'm not sure many footsoldiers give it that much thought. My brother served and I recall an ex-squaddie working for me and both had been conditioned to some extent and almost desire instruction. With that sort of bonding in the combat zone I think desertion is pretty much ruled out. I know tv will wheel out anti-war soldiers but in real life I've yet to meet one. They're not pro-war either just see it as a job.
  14. I saw a piece from a UAE journalist that laughed this notion out of the playground.
  15. Well Labour are now out of power but I've not heard a peep from the orange side of the coalition about withdrawal. Doubt that's fair as they're hardly a collective the forces would even want. Similarly, Churchill never paddled to Dunkirk but in his youth had a fair military career. Those 'boys own' days of Sandhurst then a political career are over... it's fighting on the rugby fields of Eton now that's important.
  16. He made some good crime capers in the very swinging 60s, normally with Oliver Reed and Michael Crawford, after that it was mostly shite.
  17. Just weeks and months or more shadow-boxing I suspect with nobody prepared to grasp the bull by the horns. It's soul destroying.
  18. Everyone knows the club is overvalued by Tom & Jerry and the bottom line appears to be no fecker will meet their valuation however much time they buy themselves.
  19. Not good times at vB. 4.x not been well received and the company has changed hands to one more profit-oriented. 3.8 has now reached end-of-life and will receive only the odd update henceforth. I left a few months ago and went to ipb (YNWA's software). No, just out of the box mysql 5.4. Have no load problems. Dave, I would talk to a couple of other hosts; give them your traffic figures and explain what's happening. Don't always beleive reseller tech support as sometimes they're incompetent or can't be arsed - certainly experienced this. I spoke to a few at Hosting forum for all things web, server, vps and colocation and this host seem to be well regarded: https://www.register1.net/
  20. Either we need new forum software if vB is gobbling up resources, or a new server. I started out on a shared server but now need a £180pm ds to keep my forum up.
  21. rorysmith_tel #LFC statement should - but by no means will - be out at some point this evening. All indications are it's just a holding statement.
