I was certain he (Paul Stewart ) was going to be ace. Nigel Clough also looked to be a perfect Liverpool player. And he was....for about 4 matches + the 3-3 thriller against the mancs. The most dissapointing signing in a "i dont want him here" kind of way was Julian Dicks. I never rated him, and to give them money, Mike Marsh ( who I liked ) and David Burrows ( a much better player than Dicks ) was a sad day for me.

"He was`nt any good anyway" Im pretty sure that if you had visited a Man Utd forum those days Rooney looked like he was off, you would probably read things like "He`s finished", "easily replacable" etc. When Gerrard handed in the transfer request in 2005 there were many fans coming out saying "Gerrard is just overrated anyway". Well, reading back this thread finally made me turn into gold, and as im typing this im humming... Goldfingers....

Interesting changes. I liked the work Borrell have done with the kids, and hoped he would stay in that role. But I think the plan is that the reserves will mainly be under 19 players next season, so it may be a wise move. Good to see Segura signing a new deal as well.

Him being a shit keeper was only one factor. Another important factor was that at the time of the signing we desperately needed a back up striker. And with the previous owners we were tight for money. We then went ahead and signed Poulsen for £4,5m ( when we already had Spearing to step into that role ) and Jones for £2,5m ( when we already had Gulacsi who when on loan at Tranmere and Hereford already had proved a better GK than Jones ). It was 2 signings that made no sense whatsoever at any level, made only worse by the fact that we desperately needed a striker and had no money to waste. Cant remember people abusing Jones at the time, it was more Roy digging his own grave that got told.
