  1. This is hilarious! And I think Code was fishing, he used McLaren (possibly the worst manager England have ever had?) as the yardstick! Oh and... Hardly.
  2. I'm just glad I stuck £20 on Chelsea to win the CL at 14-1, take the edge off if they manage to do it. However I'm less 'confident' they'll do it after last night's events than when I put the money on before the first Barca leg.
  3. So come on, what's the official definition of legend in respect of players?
  4. I've got a niggling feeling about Chelsea in the CL (a sick feeling in my stomach actually). So just in case, I have £20 on them to win the thing - £300 back would be a small consolation.
  5. Union City Blue - Blondie Over the Hills and Far Away - Led Zeppelin
  6. And the poor/corrupt refereeing and cheating continues. Something needs to be done.
  7. Disagree entirely. All Premier League games have been recorded and highlights shown on MOTD for probably 15-20 years, and I can't recall a period when refereeing was worse or more favoured towards certain clubs. As for particular incidents being down to perspective, this will probably still happen to some, but a much lesser, extent - partcularly if they simplify some rules first. Most people would understand that there is still room for error but will be much happier that the blindingly obvious does not get missed or 'judged' wrong. I believe some people in the game are corrupt, I believe refereeing is corrupt - therefore I believe something needs to be done, for the long term good of football.
  8. Not sure I follow? By a 'better' decision do you mean the more corrupt one?
  9. Agreed. I don't understand how some people can't see it this clearly. We'd need a manager to perform miracles to get us challenging again if we're out of the CL for a prolonged period - either that, a sugar daddy, or UEFA to change the rules.
  10. The game needs to change. It's absolutely fucked at the moment and one of those reasons is through bad refereeing (as well as being driven by certain clubs and money). Using a video referee would go some way to addressing a major problem. Yep.<!-- / message -->
  11. I'm absolutely all for using technology to get decisions right in football. Referees are corrupt/ influenced and if the game was using video replays during the match they wouldn't get away with it, resulting in more correct decisions first time. They couldn't risk shitting out of the tough calls.
  12. It really is horrible to see. I literally pulled a 'sour taste' face as I read that series of posts.
  13. Not keen. Only been once but my curry tasted like it had a crumbled Oxo in it. Not keen. Their curries need a lot of salt to bring out some flavour. Love Italian Club Fish though on Bold Street. Il Forno on Stanley Street is very decent too.
  14. Of course Dalglish deserves a chance to get it right. Like nearly every manager of Liverpool in the modern era he absolutely should be given time. Unfortunately, as the song goes, our support is fucking shit - and has been for a number of years.
  15. Our signings have been terrible, tactically we're nothing special, Kenny's media interactions have at times been ill thought out, Suarez was handled awfully. There's very very few positives to take out of this season. But, we're a club who supports our manager. I support our manager. Dalglish didn't get the job out of sentiment, he earned it with our run at the end of last season - and he deserves time to get it right.
  16. I wouldn't be surprised if they are true. I respect Carragher as a player, but as a mouth-piece he is absolutely full of shit.
  17. Are you intentionally trying to derail a thread about possible dodgy Carragher quotes with the same old Benitez shit so the bad men won't say anything nasty about little Jamie?
  18. Agreed Agreed. And I am particularly sick of the BBC (particularly 5Live) continually quoting and making headlines out of context - they should be more responsible, but they're nearly as gutter as some of the rest.<!-- / message -->
  19. I've been wondering what the answer is to our mental weakness for years. Sometimes I think we must just sign mentally weak players but that makes no sense really. So I have a new theory, which is prompted by Dave's criticism of Reina and is pure guesswork, but here goes. Our last 3 managers, Kenny included, have massively emphasised the team aspect of the game - which is absolutely and totally valid. BUT I have started to wonder, is this emphasis on the 'team' over-emphasis? Does it take personal pride away from the players? Because it's all very well saying "we win as a team and lose as a team", but could that possibly absolve the players of personal responsibility, that nouse to look at themselves and ask if they gave everything, and if they didn't, do they really care?
