  1. The use of über in the English language is one of the worst things ever. Despite the fact it has a quite different meaning in German to what it has in English, he who uses that word signifies the Catherine Tate watching, Vauxhall Corsa driving, McDonalds eating, tabloid reading, Manchester United supporting prick that is the modern British person. Cap well and truly dothed.
  2. I'd do her. Wouldn't be happy about it, but I'd do her.
  3. "Mackey D's" makes me feel ill. Not so much a trendy new word, but an infuriating grammatical error... People who use "then" instead of "than" - "I'm taller then you." Fucking Dime bar. Edit: And also, when the letter "H" is pronounced "haitch."
  4. That was a very conscious decision by Ellis - a very dark satire on the state of society, and notably the line of employment that Bateman was in - remember how shallow he and his colleauges are portrayed? Arguing over such pointless "props" as business cards and suits?
  5. That Flickr is absolute quality. Those pictures have a really stunning quality to them. You could easily substitute some of those pictures for 1980s Manchester in terms of the degradation.
  6. They are both great cities with interesting histories and cultural identities, probably the two most important in the UK along with London and Edinburgh. Aesthetically both have intrepid character and both sets of people are genuinely nice at their core. They typify what sets the north apart from the south and I honestly love both places. I've got to say the music from Manchester beats Liverpool hands down for me though.
  7. I agree Mushtaq's appointment is a good thing, Monty has struggled and badly needed a specialised spinning coach for the India tour. Then again it was work permit issues which delayed this. Pietersen obviously had an issue with Moores surrounding himself with acolytes as it isolated him. Pietersen obviously wanted a base of power, and saw it drastically reduced as Moores got his Sussex buddies on board. The Vaughan issue is an interesting one. Why was Pietersen so insistent on having him? He has been moderate for Yorkshire since resigning the England captaincy. The only reason I can see is to consolidate Pietersen's poor tactics on the field. This sounds cynical, but I feel Moores was against bringing Vaughan back to highlight Pietersen's weaknesses. They have obviously never got on. Both should go to be honest. Pietersen cannot make ultimatums to the selectors in asking for Vaughan to be re-instated or he resigns. He ahs come out of this as wiiksie says like a megalomaniac. Moores is out of his depth and has come out no better than Pietersen. The thing is, Pietersen is first on the teamsheet and is paramount to England's success. Moores should go and Pietersen sacked as captain, returning to just a player.
  8. They say it was down to the non-selection of Vaughan for the Windies tour. Pietersen wanted him, Moores didn't. Pietersen has said Moores is not of the required quality to be an international coach and is surrounding himself with Sussex players. Moores doesn't believe Pietersen is a tactically minded captain and is unhappy with the amount of influence Pietersen expects to ahve as captain. Definitely a clash of egos. Looking like Andy Flower and Andrew Strauss are going to lead us into the tour, which is only three weeks away. Gulp.
  9. Pietersen now gone. Seems a few people saw this one coming from the day he took over.
  10. Which production company is your documentary with Peter? Is it for UK TV?
  11. It only took him five years of bench warming on £40k a week to come to that decision.
  12. And while we're there shall we swap Dossena in return for Messi?
  13. I'm truly honoutred we share first names, Simon.
  14. Stewart Downing. Somebody born in England who is left-footed does not make them a great player. The Smoggies are valuing him £15m. Fucking insane.
  15. Adebayor, Clichy, Ashley Cole, Gordon, Hargreaves, Upson, Woodgate, Bentley, Reo-Coker
  16. £30m being spunked on Santa Cruz and Parker tomorrow according to the Grauniad. More to be spent on Touré, Defoe Given and Bellamy to come. Premier League: Manchester City react to FA Cup defeat with bids for Scott Parker and Roque Santa Cruz | Football | The Guardian Hughes = Out of his depth.
  17. If Britain had been defeated, such Americanisations would be unheard of.
  18. Souvlaki by Slowdive Frequencies by LFO Happy Songs for Happy People by Mogwai Squarepusher's back catalogue
  19. Are you shaving in the sauna room? If so, how do you see yourself in the mirror? Also, if you're not using foam/gel what do you use?
  20. The Curbishley story said it all really. If they chased, employed and gave a lot of money to a gimp of that stature, the owners must be the definition of clinically insane.
  21. Sorry to single your two posts out Snez and Tom, but yours were the two I'd noticed in order to enhance my point. Over the past couple of days I've read different forum users say that van der Sar, Given, Hart and Schwarzer are bad. With the arguable exception of Hart [as he hasn't had a prolonged stint for City] as far as I'm concerned, those four have been as consistent as anybody outside of Pepe and Cech (who are up there with the best of the past 20 years in the Prem) The only first choice goalies in the league who I'd be comfortable saying aren't up to scratch are Almunia, Carson and Robinson. Given has been a solid keeper for 'castle and should have moved on five years ago as his talent is way beyond them. Unless you are a Geordie, being at Newcastle is unhealthy as it is like a vacuum up there.
