Sakho's emotional return to PSG

Mamadou Sakho made an emotional return to former club Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday night to say a proper farewell to the fans he left behind when making his £16m move to Anfield on transfer deadline day.

The French defender, who played the full ninety minutes of the Reds' loss to Southampton on Saturday, took to the Parc Des Princes pitch with his young daughter and a microphone to address the supporters before kick off as PSG took on Moncaco in a battle of the big spenders. A teary eyed Sakho was cheered by the home fans after declaring: “I'm very proud to be here tonight. I remember when I was young, I was up there, there in the stands and watched PSG play. My story with PSG isn't over yet.”

Sakho joined PSG as a 12 year old and spent 11 years with his hometown team but left for Anfield after being frozen out by coach Laurent Blanc, who preferred the all Brazilian pairing of Alex and Thiago Silva.

We spend 15 million on a centre back we don't need, who's been shocking in his first two games, then he comes out saying he'll be back at PSG, basically using us as a stepping stone to prove to PSG that he's good enough. Shocking scenes.

He'll be back at PSG, just the way Xabi will be back at Atletico Madrid.

And he's been far from shocking, he struggled in his first 45 mins, probably trying to impress too much. I reckon he'll play more than Agger this season.

I think he was a panic buy because we failed in our bids for Mkhitarian, Costa and Yarmelenko. We didn't need to replace Agger, he's the best ball playing defender at the club. We've bought a physically strong defender, but not a good technical player. His touch and passing are not his strong points. If Brendan wants to play possession he should build the defence around Agger.

Sorry, that's just wrong. Not interested in that nonsense to be honest. His touch and passing where very good against Swansea. He had a 95% pass success rate. We needed somebody with height and strength, we got one.

Not so much a stepping stone but he probably didnt even want to leave his home team particurly, a French Carroll if you like, tall, a lot of money and so far a donkey

I like sakho and think he will be a good player for us at CB, Swansea was not as bad as some made out, it was his first game in a new league where he got done for a goal in the first minute which wouldn't have helped his confidence settling in to the game.

Its not what you want to hear as a fan that he wants to go back but you can understand why and he will have to be one of best centre backs in Europe to go back so if it turns out that way it will have been good for us.

Have you watched the video? because it's not working. Neg away you beaut.

It might be advisable, after being banned, when you come back just try to fit in rather than going for the jugular every time. Just ease yourself in, rather than making it evident that you're a bit of a mental case.

He's not been very good so far and with the cover we have at CB we should have used the money on an attacking player instead no matter how good he will become.

Strange thing to say. What if he becomes one of the best defenders in the world?
