  1. I'm hoping Jurgs spends any money (?) on 26-27 year solid Germans with a winning mentality - Howedes, Lars Bender, Schmelzer, Ter Stegen would be the four players to fill the problem positions (centre back, defensive midfield, left back and keeper - all the current occupants would be great back up) Sane and Gudogan would be nice improvements on Lallana/Ibe and Milner, but could probably wait until the summer..
  2. it's a shame as we can all see his talent but even when he came 3 years ago, you could see his attitude - not celebrating when Suarez scored because he could have received a pass, poor judgement between shooting and playing a final ball to a teammate (usually Luis), that stupid fucking dance etc.... Sturridge is a better version of Collymore IMO - a great talent but never a Liverpool player. The preciousness around injuries is just a symptom of this. We draw a line under 2013-2014 - we now have the world's best manager with the 3rd largest global fan base, a top 4 squad of players when all fit - we push on and leave behind the primadonnas
  3. Sturridge was told by the Club to come home from the States in the summer and be dealt with by a Southport based physio. The Club was worried that he was not focused on his rehabilitation/ fitness with his showbiz lifestyle and showbiz girlfriend. Well, he came home, and still has the showbiz lifestyle and showbiz girlfriend. There's countless examples of how a potentially world class player does not reach that because of his lifestyle - Fowler being the best example for us or Charlie Nicolas if you want to be more extreme. Unlike Rodgers, the ultimate "tomorrow will be better than today" man, don't think Klopp will tolerate his lack of a professional lifestyle and today's comments were probably the first airing of this frustration. Personally, I would get rid of the cunt and only have players at the Club who are 100% committed to the Club.
  4. when you've paid good money for a seat and some gobshite is waving a flag in front of you, it's a pain in the arse. Might look good on the telly but shit for the fans around the flags. Remember being in Prague a few years back and, having paid £54 when the home fans paid £4 (that's a different argument) and having all these fucking banners in our way...."French Reds" and all that shite like "Believe".... the flags, the banners, the standing, all part of some fake gobshitery abut how Liverpool used to be and trying to falsely recreate it....the song "Kopites are gobshites" originated in the Anny Road in the late 70s as a reaction to how cliché ridden Liverpool fans had become....this dichotomy has become more prevalent today
  5. Can is not good enough to wear the shirt- in the same category as Ilori, Alberto, Origi, and Markovic as the TC signing Europe's best potential but them not fulfilling it - see Chelsea's 27 loan players. Lallana is powder puff as well and at nearly 28, is not going to develop into a top player who can spot and play an incisive ball or finish a move - his shooting is pitiful. The left back still needs sorting, we need a dominant centre back, a top keeper, and a defensive midfielder who can make the play and break it up without giving away needless free kicks. In a Harry Bassett sort of way - " breaking his leg will test the boy's character" - today could be the reality check Jurgen needed to demonstrate the mediocrity of our squad.
  6. Good post and seriously, if you have a forumite calling Benteke a "lump", then all hope is lost. Ban the agitating Blue Noses and Mancs as it degrades a generally good forum and the legacy of an excellent fanzine. Benteke is class - end of. He is the perfect modern day forward - movement, a threat, pace behind, good link up play, a fine finisher, and the ability to do what he did yesterday - score a goal from a half chance. Lucas also shouldn't be slated - he is the real Captain of this team and it doesn't take a genius to appreciate what Klopp was saying to him at the end - game management, close out the game, calm the players down, don't give away daft free kicks (you dickhead Milner) etc. Overall, a good start under Klopp - the players are giving 100% , trying to attack with a tempo, keeping the ball, winning it back quickly. A bit more composure in each penalty area and we will be fine. As I said under Brendan, let's wait until we have our best team out - Benteke alongside Sturridge with a Brazilian number 10 feeding them from behind.
  7. sorry, I was referring to Wolfsburg for Rodriguez - I think Jurgs will raid Dortmund's nearest rivals for their best players, including Bayer's Bender:)
  8. Indeed, Howie was a great man as well as a great footballer and manager. Always remember the Everton bus coming round after ours in 86 - he laughed off the abuse and inappropriate gloating and was always a class act in my eyes. I went to a few After Dinner dos in the 90s and he was always above any bitterness, as any fine Evertonian is. RIP Howie.
  9. Skrtel was awful I thought - not a very good defender who slips/ or gets caught out of position regularly. Will be replaced in the January transfer window under Klopp hopefully. As will Lucas - a great bloke and pro but very limited and maybe the Lucas pre Chelsea injury would be at the right tempo, but this slowed up version will be a squad player only. Can will never make up as he cannot close a man down and hasn't got the basic skills to do something with the ball. The most interesting part of yesterday was Klopp using a 4-3-2-1 formation (the Christmas Tree) and I actually think Moreno would work well with Hendo in a midfield 3 doing the pressing / and movement for a Sven Bender. New left back and centre back (the replace the hapless Mart) are also needed- Howedes only has 18 months left on his contract and perhaps Wolfsburg will now need to sell, so Rodriguez could become a possibility for left back?
  10. Including all the 9 games of the suspension that admittedly spanned two seasons , our average points per game was 2.55, compared with 2.22 with him in the team. Overall during his time at the Club, our win rate without was 64% compared to 50% with him in the team. Not diminishing his contribution with these stats as it was immense - it's just that any argument to dismiss Rodgers contribution doesn't stand up
  11. it was pretty good between January - April 14... and half decent between January- mid March 2015 not too bad this season either...4 out of 6 matches we've played ok. admittedly you would expect a settled playing pattern and team in his 4th season but if the 2nd half of 13-14 is a taster of what he can do, I'm prepared to give him more than 6 games.. this "down to Suarez" revisionism bollocks doesn't reflect the reality that we actually won more points that season without him that season than with him
  12. well, its 6 games into the season - maybe if you gave him a bit more? playing the best attacking football in Europe 17 months ago....or is that forgotten...the bastard couldn't sustain it...well, we think he can't...doesn't look like it...let's the sack the fucker and get someone else in who can* * on the condition that he does it within 9 months, otherwise he's a cunt, he' s out...move on to the next..etc etc etc sad times to be a Liverpool fan
  13. when we used to taunt the Blue Noses for their lack of loyalty for whoever was in charge - "taxi for Catterick" and this little ditty which was only applied for one season and only really caught on during that pissed May afternoon in The Grand Place: There was a time last season, not so long ago, when all the blue nose bastards, said Kendall he must go, now they've won a trophy, they've all come back with pride, you fucking blue nose bastards, you're the shit of Merseyside Apparently the BS are going to give this an updated rendition at next week's derby
  14. 3-0 - 41,000 fans leave Anfield happy with the good work of the 1st half of Arsenal and the promising signs against Norwich transformed into a positive result....5,000 internet "red warriors" go into meltdown because they have to put up with "white teeth fraud who almost won us the league" for a bit longer...
  15. oh, and can we all now agree that Emre Can is a "German Paul Stewart" - can't control the ball, can't pass, has no positional sense, has no speed when closing a man down/ trying to win the ball, yet struts around in an arrogant fashion as if he's Paul Breitner....fucking hate the ponce
  16. did I fall asleep in January 2014 and dream we played our best football for 25 years and that Brendan will give the kids their story.... talk about the modern fickle fan - fortunately, most match going fans are a bit sturdier than you internet warriors, although I do remember murmurs about Paisley going in May 81 after we pathetically lost to Sunderland 0-1 on the last game of the season (and those 10,000 away fans, 2000 of which were in the Kop)..Paris soon stopped such talk but our league demise continued until Boxing Day and the Joe Corrigan game, and talk was still rife then that Bob was past it... ..in other words, patience and support is a virtue.....not for someone like Hogdson perhaps who never earnt it, but Brendan has...wait until he has his 1st team available before writing him off, which means Sturridge up front with Benteke, Coutinho behind, Allen holding and Hendo and Milner making up the diamond....love the new full backs and tonight proved that Sakho should be the rock alongside Mart.
  17. Souness as a player - like Clem, he decided to quit while ahead to "better" himself. like Rushie. etc..I suppose Sterling is just the latest player in 38 years who thinks he can better himself by moving away...this is a long term trend not kidding myself about Coutinho...just that while he's recommending fellow Brazilian top players to the Club, he deserves our love and loyalty.
  18. That Pompey support in the LC was the best I remember at Anfield in 40 years. Perservely, I remember going to Fratton in February 88 overnight with a few on a stolen ticket machine. After stops at New Street, Oxford, arrive at Pompey early hours Saturday - nice breakfast, wonder round the town centre, get legged to the ground - 800 in the away end - legged back to Fratton Station....the one time that season that our support didn't match our team.
  19. Chelsea, City, Arse, United - 4 European Cups LFC - 5 the more we start to see ourselves as some sort of inferior Club, we're finished. Couthino knows he's at a big Club - fuck the butterfly likes of Suarez (and Torres, Maschereno)
  20. Good luck Rickie - you deserve a Club that gets the best out of yousse, but that Villa goal and the ensuing celebrations will be always be a rare highlight of an otherwise shite season.
  21. whilst recognising he's one of our best ever players, it's strange how the guy is worshipped as some sort of Michael Collins character. He wanted to leave us after 2 and half years when he thought he was better than us and then did so at the earliest opportunity. He also humiliated the Club by implying in 2013 that Arsenal - yes fucking Arsenal - were bigger than us. We're so meek now that we seem to accept this - remember the outcry with Keegan. Suarez is a rat just like Keegan, Souness, McManaman, Owen and Torres.
  22. The Brendan project has been tried and failed. Let's go back to 2004, show some ambition, restore our name and glory to Europe's top table and get a top class manager - Klopp of course. time FSG stop fucking around and realise and act like that we're the 3rd most successful team in Europe and the 3rd best supported in the world - surely they realise their "investment" would be best served by a proven top manager instead of the "can he, can't he" reign of Brendan, much I like what he has done. Today was a tipping point for me, as it seemed for many as they came out of Wembley.
  23. I've been a strong supporter of Rodgers throughout but that was a defining moment today, a bit like the 96 final under Evans. Not to show up on your biggest game of the season is telling. Would have no problem with Brendan soldering on (although not happy with mentions of Ings, Williams, Jenkinson etc as our summer signings) but if Klopp/ Ancellotti would take on the challenge of restoring us to Europe's top table, then we should not hesitate to do the right thing for the Club. Great managers not only produce great teams, but also seize the big moments - even if we thought Brendan can do the former , he's always been constantly lacking in the latter which is a prerequisite for our Club.
  24. I would swap Balo for Romero for the season to see if Romero would suit the English game. The Samp President said he would welcome Mario.
