  1. The problem with that is they don't benefit from managed decline. They only benefit by building up the stadium and (to an extent) the team, so they can sell us on for a profit a few years down the line. People seem to forget that the odd ten million here and there is fuck all to the people who own FSG.
  2. I'm assuming you've never heard of Dortmund, or Klopp. Or will that be consigned to being a "one off" to suit your quite obvious agenda?
  3. Still not entirely sure why people think we need one. If you look at the way BR has us set up to play, our players get behind the ball and press in groups. When we move out from the back, the 2 CB's split and go wide, whilst one of the deeper midfielders drops in between them, the fullbacks push up to halfway (to start with), so straight away there are 3 "out" balls, and we move up the pitch progressively, for the most part. When we counter, we aren't getting everyone forwards because again, we move forwards in stages, pressing the opposition back. This system needs quick CB's rather than a DM, because of the higher line, so a speedy CB is the priority for me rather than another DM.
  4. The Echo reported a couple of weeks ago that the buy out clause was a load of bollocks, which came from someone at the club. It may be brinkmanship, but I'd trust the Echo more than any of the national rags.
  5. I also think people get too hung up on size meaning strength. Size has fuck all do to with strength. I've worked with guys who weighed 9 stone soaking wet in denim, but were as strong as a fucking ox. I think it's more about the pace of the prem than anything else with this lad, but if a player is good enough they will easily adapt. Like Coutinho for example, a strong little fucker with bags of skill.
  6. This kid is going to be a cracking player for us as long as he adjusts to the prem. He's clever, has an eye for a pass, a good shot, and is stronger than people seem to think. This is a great bit of business, and I'd expect to see him in the first team sooner rather than later. I think we have another gem.
  7. ahhhh, I "appeared" to be saying. That clears it up then. Nice to see you know better than the gaffer as well, y'know, because you see them in training every day, and know their respective strengths like the back of your hand. Forget that Henderson is young (but still the u-21 skipper), as is Allen and that Lucas had a career threatening injury, not to mention Allen as well playing with an injury. You keep right on fella - you know best, unlike the gaffer.
  8. Are you saying that Carra was quick, and that Stevie never went out of position? As much as I love him as a player, positional discipline has never been the strongest part of his game, and in that deep position next to Lucas, he still tended to drift around. So then instead of a holding 2, allowing the fullbacks to get forwards you get one player trying to cover 2 positions. It's never going to work. It didn't happen all the time, and he became much, much better at holding his position as the season progressed. Are you one of those who thinks that Carra and Gerrard should never, ever be criticised? We all know how good they have both been for us over the years, and some of us were supporting Carra even when he was being booed by our own supporters, so I'd clamber down off that high horse if I was you fella, because no player is immune to criticism, and no player is bigger than the club.
  9. That's your opinion, and fair enough. Mine differs. I also don't remember teams marching straight through the middle as you are saying, and when our centre was vulnerable it was because of other factors than a DM, like Stevie going walkabout, as he is prone to do. Add our deep backline to that (because of Carra's lack of pace) and you have too much room for the opposition to exploit. The whole point of buying CB's with more pace is to deny them that space. Remember the old adage - make the pitch small when defending, and large when attacking. Do that properly and you don't really need a DM at all.
  10. Fair points, but I don't see a DM as a priority if our back 4 has some pace in it, and would rather we added some more quality further up the field, especially out wide, although saying that, I expect our wide players to swap positions more next season - i.e. a front 3 interchanging and no rigid roles.
  11. hahahahaaaa what a fucking idiot. I was right first time. You probably think andy townshend is a good commentator. or like that other cunt, silverwhining who thought les ferdinand was world class. We used to have the reputation of being the most knowledgeable fans. Not any more judging by your comments. fucking aids spaz cunt.
  12. The list stated the last 20 years, and Mattahus has been retired for 13 of those. Now if you want to say one of the best ever, I'll agree, but you can't put him in that timeframe when he hasn't been around for more than half of it. Zidane was an attacking midfielder in the mould of a true number 10 - not a central midfielder at all, much less one of the best "all round" which is a meaningless term thrown around by fuckheads who talk about "false 9's" and used to cover up a complete lack of knowledge about the game. What a stupid person.
  13. Zidane as an "all round" centre mid? fucking Ince??? Not to mention Matthaus retired in 2000 playing for the fucking MetroStars. WTF? Is there a village missing an idiot somewhere?
  14. That's an awful lot of shite in one post fella. Congratulations. You were talking about players fucked off by utd, you were proven wrong, now you're trying to move the goalposts. Rooney rejected by Liverpool? That is perhaps the strangest thing I've ever seen. Rooney turned up for a trial in an everton kit, and refused to change out of it, then waited for everton to come calling. They did.
  15. Great thread. Thanks for the vids. Froch to win in later rounds by stoppage.
  16. haha, that's more likely to make Rafa say "Fuck off" than anything else. By trying to be machiavellian that daft cunt has probably blown it.
  17. Para's are great, fucking mad bastards the lot of them. First met a few when I was doing my jump training, and it's a bit weird how they switch from slagging the shit out of you one second, to dead serious the next. We'd be wheeling around on these little trolleys learning how to get stable in the air, and there'd be half a dozen of them ripping the absolute piss out of us. Funny as fuck.
  18. He's only 21, hardly an old fart is he? I'd prefer him to go on loan, and see if he can progress, although from all accounts he has an extremely high opinion of himself and can be a bit of a tit. It would be a shame if he wasted his obvious talent through a lack of self discipline and arrogance (if the stories are true). He could do with taking a leaf out of Hendo's book, and knuckle down, listen and do more work to improve his game. He has talent, he just doesn't seem to be applying it.
  19. I've been reading through this and I have one question Who the fuck is michael buble?
  20. The business has its share of mad cunts who think that they can do what they want because they are in the back of beyond and no longer bound by RoE. At the same time, there are less reputable companies that'll take anyone on. We have some ex special forces, marines and para's. All good lads and all know their jobs. The last thing you want in a dodgy situation is some cunt who thinks he's rambo.
  21. Sorry to hear that. We have nothing to do with any African contracts. Heard some real horror stories. You have to understand that there are plenty of dodgy firms, and anyone looking for work in this line would do well to steer well clear of them. It's always best to ask around. There's always someone who knows the score who can point blokes in the right direction.
