ive thought a lot about this, and ive taken my sentimental hat off. i was wrong in what i said about martinez we should have broken the bank to get him, but fair play to dave whelan he managed to keep his man. it was all sentiment from me trying to kid myself that roberto as a replacement for the king would be a bad move, i just found it hard to let go but i have now.the king was clearly out of the game too long, and lets be truthful benitez is loved by us for winning the champions league, a credit really more deserving to gerard houllier. as a liverpool fan i know we will return to our rightful place as top dogs in england and europe one day, but as a fan of english football i dont want to see us do that thru others making mistakes, martinez would be a brilliant appointment for spurs, but i hope they give it to moyes. everton could then appoint big eck who was harshly treated at villa and it would be a great opportunity for him to redeem himself among the impatient of the modern day. spurs should be staying away from the failure that is rafa benitez and staying away from chelsea flop avb and appointing a good manager who would take them places such as D.M. or R.M. :whistle:

hope daniel levy for the good of his football club ignores any pleas from fans who might want a fancy european name, the only 2 candidates should be roberto martinez and david moyes, martinez would have them playing beautiful football and would be an excellent choice, moyseys record at goodison park obviously speaks for itself, has to be one of those two. sometimes you have to pay the compensation... for the right man, and you cant be successful in europe without being given the opportunity, he should stay away from available managers who have been successful in europe, it would be a sign of trying to do things on the cheap and being afraid to take a gamble, and these 2 would be gambles very much worth takingSee more

so you can see a young manager being given 5 years by a club who would have sacked 2 of their legends in the last couple of years after one bad season each ?

rafa would be my first choice, if we are making a change at all but im not sure we wouldnt be able to attract other good managers, what would turn them off this summer ? to an outsider loads of work needs to be done for 'a team like liverpool' to get back where they should be. if your a manager with a big reputation why not take it on, if you make us great again you'll probably have clubs in spain, italy nad germany offering you ridiculous amounts of money in a couple of years, if you fail to get top 4 next season and liverpool sack you, you get your contract paid out and everyone says, well they sacked benitez and hodgson, they mutually consented dalglish, that club must be impossible to manage. it cant go on forever that its each individual managers fault people will eventually start blaming the club

just throwing it out there but if the club decide to change the manager can anyone see kenny taking a managers job somewhere else ? id say its highly unlikely but you never know he might just have the hunger back having managed us for a while and if he's left with no choice but to move on from his current job id imagine he would either take a different job here or retire. fwiw i hope he stays and we give him another year, but if we are in the bottom half in december and its not down to a ridiculous number of injuries i think his position would be untenable, and as much as i want him to stay, i fear he wont stay on as manager, therefore i dont want to see breaking news tomorrow rafa benitez appointed manager of 'insert club that isnt us here' because he would be my first choice IF the managers job is going in the next few weeks. i cant help thinking though if we end up with a manager for the start of next season and its neither dalglish nor benitez, it would be hilarious if lets say kenny went back to blackburn and rafa took over whoever, but in england, when they would play each other this site would be hilarious

pull out of the f a cup was my first thought and i stand by it. i agree having read this thread any rags printing bollocks fuck them off too, don't send an assistant, just tell them we don't want to talk to you. hope suarez takes the f a, demento, and evra to the cleaners in a proper court. by the way im desperate to see us win trophies and f a cup would have been great but a) the clubs reputation is at stake and we should not allow one man to bear the brunt of this bollocks and b) wouldnt it be funny seeing a microphone in front of dementos face about us pulling out, he couldnt say too much about us disrespecting a great competition, one of footballs oldest cup comps etc when they have already done it
