  1. Villas Boas is a fantastic manager, he's more than proven that but Kenny is OUR manager. He's the right man at the right time and how long can he continue? He's only 60 years old! As good as AVB is he isn't the right man at this time. Kenny has us going the right way and doesn't yet have a full season under his belt. When Comolli continues to provide him with the talent and a settled squad capable of challenging for CL football, that's when Kenny will prove himself once again as far as I'm concerned. Anything he does up to that point is and has been a bonus.
  2. Neither. Jarvis is younger, cheaper and for my money just as good as both and from what I've seen Dzudsak and Gervinho look better players. Young was on his way to being a quality player but got lost along the way so he represents the better "gamble" than Downing who I don't believe will ever be more than he is now, so if I had to pick it would be Young. I'd rather we try for Milner and Johnson if we are really going English.
  3. Nice to see he's being given a real chance. We may as well have Tiger fucking Woods chipping golf balls at him for the good our team is at creating.
  4. I want to get a Millar jersey, always had time for that guy.
  5. Watch the champions league once in a while and you might get it.
  6. To be fair they absolutely hate his guts in a similar way to what we do. Still hope the Sox win as I've had no choice but to adopt them since the John Henry move. Still following the Mets as well though. Basically anyone that hates the Yankees it seems. Ha.
  7. Unfair. Much better crosser of the ball than Pennant and more consistent in his short time in the prem than Pennant ever was. Pennant had ability it just never worked out for him, that doesn't mean every other player similar to him isn't good enough. I'd be happy to see Jarvis here because he can beat a man and cross a ball and he doesn't need much space to do so either.
  8. So we're just signing everyone then? Willian is a beast but once he's been to Barca he's not gonna want to go anywhere else.
  9. Morimoto, not cos he's Asian but because we could get him cheap and he could turn out to be superb. This thread reminds me of the awesomeness of these: zulEMWj3sVA lOGpGoEMu2s
  10. Actually the first time I rated him was when we battered Newcastle at Anfield but Milner stood out as a good player despite that.
  11. And here was me thinking one goal in a friendly justified the fee.
  12. I think Bayern will be in for him soon enough. Schalke are hardly setting the world on fire.
  13. This. I doubt very much he leaves Lyon though. Apparently the mancs have got De Gea in the bag. I wonder if City fancy splashing the cash elsewhere and we can sneak Joe Hart.
  14. » DEAD soccer fan Christopher Jacome brought to stadium in COFFIN to watch game Greenwich Diva: Keeping it "REAL" in Greenwich, Connecticut, and around the WORLD YouTube - Football fans take coffin with dead corpse of Cristopher Sanguino in the stadium Cúcuta Deportivo
  15. I miss the days when a player was just judged on his ability and want to play for the club. If Cole wasn't on 90k a week then he wouldn't receive the unwarranted abuse he does.
  16. Benitez was the man that won the cup but it's futile to argue that he didn't do so with Houllier's team by and large, even the man himself told us at the time that he wanted time to bring in his own players. Houllier does deserve a large amount of credit for what he did at the club and where he took us from and where he took us to. Unfortunately he was never the same after his serious surgery and some bad decisions coupled with what I believe to be overly cautious play meant he never won the title or even got as close as he should to winning it. Benitez like Houllier took us as far as he was going to at the time but instead of progressing, we regressed. It is my belief that although obviously the money had a lot to do with this, so did Rafa's brave but somewhat foolish decision to play more like Valencia the season after we came so close. You only have to look at his two main signings and whom they replaced to see where Rafa was trying to take us and also how we played. Arbeloa was replaced by Johnson, a man known primarily for his ability to bring the ball out of defence at pace and Alonso was replaced by Aquilani, a player Rafa saw as someone who would help out more further up the field. Unfortunately without Alonso we had no one to protect the back 4 as he had so expertly and this meant that we were vulnerable to counter attacking football. It didn't take teams long to realise this and with less protection than was needed our back 4 was in trouble most if not all games. The point being, both men were good for the club, both made mistakes and both are responsible for any success we've had in recent years. Why they must squabble over it is beyond me.
  17. You don't pass up the chance to kick that muppet
  18. Downing is good enough but milner isn't? We'd have a better team with milner .
