  1. Agree to an extent and I share the sentiment sadly. However given our level of expenditure I don't believe establishing ourselves over several seasons as consistent contenders for a top 4 position is out of the question. Spurs have effectively achieved that without megabucks spending. If Rodgers is able to achieve that goal, he should deservedly be considered a success with us.
  2. Because he was only an interim and then went and won the CL. He was then shown the door because of Chelsea's disastrous performance in this years group stages or at least thats the excuse.
  3. I'm finding it impossible to view any 70's era celebrity without suspicion now. I think it's easier if the authorities simply publish a 'clean' list of those definitely in the clear.
  4. Good to see that Howard Webb is confirming what a shit referee he is on an international stage again.
  5. Just getting into this myself, anyone recommend a good starter kit? I've tried over the shelf e-light cigarettes and found them to just not quite give enough of a hit. Even with those it's still remarkably similar to smoking. I've just bought a totally tornado vaping kit from a local e-cigarette shop that's opened up. I know the anti-smoking lobby are dead set against them although they seem to be quite happy for you to spend the rest of your life addicted to hugely expensive and unsatisfying nicotine replacements. However you argue it, an e-cigarette or vaping kit is a fraction as bad for you as smoking.
  6. Just astonishing, we may as well go the whole hog and introduce a rule stating that opposing teams should apologies to the mancs for scoring a goal of any nature against them even legitimate goals. Anything that 'does down' Manchester United™ and the 'Theater of Dreams'™ must be outlawed.
  7. Cameron chipping in like this for his own self-serving interest is appalling. Is he going to comment on every incident going forward? Saying he's offering an opinion as a 'dad' is deeply disingenuous given his position.
  8. Given the fact that the FA are clearly influenced by the media and that it appears that even much of the media seem to view a 10 game ban as excessive it would seem to be worth the risk to appeal. Is a 10 game ban potentially turned into an 11 or 12 game ban going to make much difference?
  9. Agree with everyone on here, he was an astonishing player and exactly what we could do with now. As a man, he sold himself many years ago and I suspect that's all that motivates him. Given his conduct, even as a player some of his behaviour was controversial you think he'd know better?
  10. No he'll leave. I'm not suggesting that the club automatically want to sell him although I wouldn't be surprised if a decent offer came in they'd be happy to accept irrespective of their public position. Most likely I assume Suarez's representatives will be approached by a number of clubs over the summer and this will just push him into going.
  11. I'm actually more pissed off with this than the Evra verdict, whilst I didn't agree with their decision then I could at least recognise the severity of the charges against Suarez but in this case, a bite? At worst a petulant, childish, unpleasant act but after witnessing it you'd struggle to refer to it as 'violent'.
  12. No point appealing as the outcome is inevitable. A punishment of this excessive nature is also self defeating, the FA have ended up victimising the perpetrator of the offence.
  13. Yep ridiculous but not unsurprising from a chinless blazer wearing group of spineless goons. The FA should be handing out appropriate punishment rather than catering to their exhaustive desire to please the media or the Prime Minister. Hopefully they'll be stepping in the next time Rooney assaults someone whilst wearing an England shirt to enforce an appropriate ban? I suspect we've seen Suarez play his last game for us now.
  14. I'm still clinging to the hope that after a full season under his belt, some outstanding work in the transfer market surprising us all that he doesn't just keep buying Swansea players that we'll at least push for a top four spot even if we fall short. In reality it will take another 12 months for many to realise that he's a very average manager who has been promoted well ahead of his abilities. It will just be a case of whether he can continue to lower expectations far enough next season to render 7th place again to be considered a success.
  15. Smacks of someone who as an adult has failed to develop any form of impulse control and will lash out often in a child like manner. He'll be sold because of this, that'll be two successive clubs who have shown him the door because he can't stop biting people. I'd suggest a therapist and mood stabilisers....for me as well.
  16. It'll be an 8 game ban. Personally I don't think what he did is much more unsporting than Rio Ferdinand's conduct towards Torres in the recent FA Cup tie. I suspect the FA won't fall back on the inconclusive video evidence line this time. I'm just disappointed that he didn't bite Torres instead. We may have seen a few tears.
  17. It was a bite, no excuses, he has form for this. I love the guy, we're just going to have to accept the slightly mental side that's part of his nature on the pitch. It's part of the baggage of him playing for us and the good he brings to the side far outweighs the negative.
  18. Christ not looking good this, I knew it wasn't going to be easy but this is very worrying. I'm not too concerned about this result at this point, I know you're not supposed to say that, just trying to gauge a level of performance from us.
  19. We've had some really useless clowns running the club above whichever manager has been in place to even remotely blame Rafa however much he lost his marbles over the last 18 months with us. Moores, Parry, Gilette, Hicks, Purslow...Just noticed that Steve Morgan is working his magic and on the verge of taking Wolves down two divisions in successive seasons. We've really not had much to work with at executive level for 20 years, it's hardly surprising we're pretty shite as a result.
  20. I wasn't too thrilled, particularly as it was dempsey who scored the third! It's the only time I've ever remotely come close to winning anything. Think you're right about no more than 4 or so. Mate of mine seems to win quite often on the accumulators he always goes for the correct scores and doesn't bet until the last few minutes, always puts down small bets on several accumulators but the odds are still very good much better than putting down a bigger amount on a single accumulator. He's just betting on one or two goal swings over the last couple of minutes which happen quite a lot but still give decent odds. He routinely wins a couple of thousand or more on small bets.
  21. Oh tell me about it, I put an accumulator on Paddy Power most weekends, a few weekends ago I was on for seven correct scores which would have paid out £371,000 on a £1 bet, I'd put down Spurs to win 2-1 at home to Reading, I'd even thought about 3-1. All was good until Spurs scored again with a few minutes to go.
  22. Reading the last couple of posts we've clearly got the best first 11 in the league, difficult to understand why we're not up there then? Suarez would walk into the top four sides at the moment, not many of our others would.
  23. Yeah seems well over the top especially given that to a substantial section of the population she is despised. Costs actually look to be well over £10 million given that the Tories are desperately trying to conceal the true costs by excluding security and policing. Just goes to show that when it comes to the establishment spending public money there clearly isn't a problem.
  24. I agree with that, I don't think Kenny with Suarez available for a full season would have done any worse than Rodger's first season and we might well have been a bit closer to a European place. No certainty about it all obviously. It would have also given FSG another season to see how Rodgers developed and if he'd made progress staying at Swansea another season we could have moved for him this summer with a bit more insight into his abilities. Still too late now.
