  1. And he ended up winning nothing for the rest of his career. What are the odds?
  2. It seems to me that Kenny does really not like them. I felt that he was talking to Sky rather than the media as a whole when he he said to Burton on Saturday that the club knows more than "yourselves do" about what the fans want and gave a dig again yesterday at the reporter about the female journalist being present at the press conference. Did Kelly Dalglish's tenure at Sky end badly, I just felt she was phased out and he may hold a bit of a grudge or does he realise that Sky are a bunch of cunts or is it just Kenny being Kenny to the media as a whole?
  3. Hammers 2-1 - Piquionne, and then got himself sent off by going into the crowd
  4. Get in Newcastle. Anyone wanna resurrect the "Top 4, too late?" thread?
  5. We have 5 CBs who all have good attributes, we badly need a guy who can dominate in the air and has a bit of pace. We need a defensive midfielder. Lucas is realistically our only one at the moment that I'd be confident in but he is not an enforcer and I'd prefer to see someone stronger and with a bit more pace. We have one striker who is top level so we need someone who can come in and replace Torres if required. We have a few good wide players but none that are very good. I'd get one in and play Gerrard there. So, IMO we NEED a centre back and a wide player to improve our 1st team straightaway. We WOULD LIKE a holding midfielder, a forward and a left back which would give us a lot more options and improve the team/squad. If we got Adam and Suarez, until Carra comes back I'd go with: Pepe Kelly Skrtel Agger Johnson Lucas Adam Mereiles Gerrard Torres Suarez Subs: Gulacsi, Aurelio, Wilson, Shelvey, Maxi, Kuyt, N'gog Then we can afford to lose Jones, Kyrgi, Konchesky, Poulsen, Cole, Jovanovic. For me, the transfer window last summer was a disgrace, even allowing for the lack of £££s available and the position the club was in off the field.
  6. After looking at the 3 games since Kenny took over I have a sneaking suspicion that the team is not fit, definitely not as fit as Rafa's time. (I don't want to start anything but obviously if a lot of the same players are not as fit they won't play as well.) For the 3 games we have looked out on our feet for the last 10 minutes, although to be fair playing 60mins against the mancs did not help. We play in fits and starts during games and the only game I can remember that we were behind or level in the last 10-20 mins that we have gone for it in is the Bolton game.
  7. The question is whose 1st team was better. People are putting Carra in at CB and Finnan in RB for Ged's team even though he rarely played them there. Ged should not get that credit just because they were a success there in Rafa's time. Ged's 1st team in 03/04 was: Dudek Carra Sami Biscan Riise Murphy Gerrard Didi Diouf(Smicer) Baros Owen Rafa's 1st team more or less in 09/10 was: Pepe Johnson Carra Skrtel(Agger) Insua Kuyt Lucas Masch Yossi Torres Gerrard In my opinion: Dudek Reina - Reina Carra Johnson - Carra (for his defensive side) Carra Sami - draw Skrtel Biscan - Skrtel Insua Riise - Riise Kuyt Murphy - Kuyt Lucas Gerrard - Gerrard Masch Didi - draw Yossi Le Spit - Yossi Gerrard Baros - Gerrard Torres Owen - I'd go Torres but it's tight.
  8. Two glaringly obvious mistakes that I have spotted in the article. Barnes got a beautiful right footed curler from outside the box that night. Molby didn't score. Venison is the first name in a list of players noted for their mediocrity but Venision was at the club for all but one of Kenny's years in charge averaging about 20 league appearances a season. It's a shit, mish-mash of an article that has lots of words but says nothing. A bit like Smith himself.
  9. With Aurelio unable to play 3 times in a week and Konchesky totally out of favour then Wilson is probably the way to go at LB and keep Fabio for the derby. I'm glad that Johnson is getting a go on the right. We'll see how Dirk gets on up top with Torres. If we are to play 442 then Kuyt is his best partner IMO.
  10. Peter Reid on Goals on Sunday making a lot of sense re Hodgson disrespecting the fans and that Liverpool FC have great supporters. The fans are the real owners of a football club. That Kenny would never stab someone in the back. Also said that the king was one of the best players ever. surprised from a blue.
  11. Excellent news. Thank you God! Now come on Kenny, give us the lift we need and get this team playing.
  12. Signed. Fuck me, there are some amount of blood suckers out there aren't there.
  13. We could catch Chelsea if we get a manager in that can win a few points away from home.
  14. It's not his fault that he was appointed, I agree, but it is his fault that he's our manager. He is failing miserably and has no backing whatsoever from the fans. He should do the decent thing and resign, especially if he is as nice as they all say he is, but he won't.
  15. 1. But he doesn't. That's the point. We have only ever had one good season when CM has been his regular position, the the 01/02 season. In the treble season he played a lot on the right with Gary Mac and Didi in the centre. He played CM in Ged's last 2 years where we were very poor and he only played there intermittently under Rafa. No English manager has played him there regularly either and when they have it's not been very successful either. I am not for a second saying that he is a terrible central midfielder but I do think that it is very hard to have a balance when he plays in there and the team will be caught out as Gerrard can be tactically poor in there. 2. He might be very nice to the press, but to me, a Liverpool supporter, he is an arrogant, up his own arse, blame all else but me, crank. He has disrespected the "fans" of this great club on more than a few occasions now and does not come across as a nice man to me at all, the very opposite in fact. That, is the long and the short of it!
  16. Doesn't get said enough. I explained what Bob did compared to what Ferguson did to a youngish mate of mine, an Arsenal fan, and he was flabbergasted. He wanted to know why he hears more about Busby than he does about Paisley.
  17. Redknapp didn't buy Modric, he "inherited" him. Of Spurs' first choice 11, he has bought 3 players - Gallas and 2 of Crouch, Van Der Vaart and Defoe, in over two years. Hodgson uses £36m worth of subs to emphasise his point about emulating him. Clueless!
  18. 2002 Lifetime Achievement Award Winner - Seve Ballesteros 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award Winner - Seve Ballesteros Award loses all respectability right there. Seve was great and he was an excellent ambassador for golf but has had only one lifetime as far as I know.

    Tevez

Besides their 1st 11, all they have in terms of 1st team players are Hilario, Ferreira, Bosingwa, Zhirkov, Ramires, Kalou, Yossi and Sturridge. It would be strange if they spend £35m on only one player and the one position where they have strength in depth. Not saying it won't happen but IMO it would be crazy, unless Abramovic is going to release 100m or so.
  20. I was flicking channels yesterday morning and came across the Sunday Supplement ( I know, I know) but Woolnough mentioned our away record and some other hack responded with the 2 wins this year for Liverpool but Woolnough came back with 1 win in 26 for Hodgson but the hack dismissed it, chenged the subject and spoke about Andy Carroll. I couldn't believe it. I was waiting for a proper discussion about our manager and his abilities, or lack of, for a club like Liverpool but nada. Infuriating.

    Tevez

But surely Tevez would cost £30m+ and Chelsea are not paying that much for a player recently, unless they sell Anelka or Drogba but neither would not carry that much of a fee due to their age. Maybe Abramovic is ready to splash the cash again, and in my opinion it is badly needed as most of their better players are on the wrong side of 30 and the younger "promising" ones don't cut the mustard for me. Unless he reinvests heavily, I think they won't be top 4 in 2-3 years.
