  1. I know the squad needs investment but since Kenny took over we have been 3rd in the form table behind Arsenal and Chelsea with 17 points from 9 games. Over the course of 29 games with those results we would be standing on 55 points, only 5 points off top. Do you really think that we are that far off? Please don't use this as a dig at Hodgson and Purslow and anyone else from the previous regime.
  2. Surely the sky interviewer should have compared it to the Rooney thing when he was saying that Luiz should have been sent off. I'd love to have seen his purple head blow up. Now that would be good television.
  3. Hoddle broght him with him from Southampton to Spurs for 8.5m and I definitely thought he would become an England player. Absolutely shocking news though. He should still be playing ball at 36 years of age.
  4. The manager who asked for the advice is surely Keegan.
  5. Does anyone else feel that Rodwell's injury record is a concern? Obviously I am not concerned while he is there but you know what I mean.
  6. Good player, not a great player. I think he'd be a lot better if he had another striker up top with him rather than Fabregas playing off him as he does not have the power nor the pace to stretch teams making Arsenal a bit too patient in their build up.
  7. If Baines wanted to leave in the summer or if they need to sell, the only clubs in England that he would want to go to and would pay that much for a left back are us and the Spuds, so we would have a very good chance of getting him. He would not have to move house and his kids and play with his boyhood club. If Kenny rates him, I think it's a no brainer. Re Aquilani, I agree with most on here, get a good price for him or bring him back to a team more suited to his style of play. I know people say he would be a too expensive player to have on the bench but Gerrard only plays about two-thirds of league games a year these days and rarely plays in the Europa (presuming we won't get top 4). We realistically have only 3 top central midfielders at the moment and if we are to play 4-3-3 or 3-5-2 next season, we will need at least 5.
  8. I agree that United can play narrow but if we play 3 at the back all the time then they would probably play wingers when they come up against us e.g. Valencia, Giggs and Nani. Villa played Downing and Albrighton wide this year until Bent came in and are now playing Downing and Agbonlahor wide.
  9. United Villa and Spurs. But I see what you are saying, most teams play with wide midfielders or wide forwards rather than wingers.
  10. This sentence would be correct if you stopped before the bit in bold and you would come across as a reasoned, sensible "forum contributor". However, you added that even when your point is proven wrong you will still stick by it. Exactly, that is the crux of the problem with you. Fuck, we all make points on here and sometimes they are proved incorrect. All the sane posters realise the error, accept it, some even apologise if warranted, but you, you sir, are an ignorant ignorant man. If you cannot publicly acknowledge that you are wrong even when you realise you are, then you are a liability on here because people on here do not like that trait in anyone. Threads that you post in, become clogged up with people pulling you on errors/misjudgements/untruths and you trying to defend the indefensible as you "stick by" your point increasing the dislike of you. That is what you do!! Accept your mistakes and life for you would be easier on here and all of us would be a hell of a lot nicer. Otherwise leave forever, please.
  11. Yossi played well for 6 months in 09 when played on the right, when Kuyt played off Torres or off Torres himself. I can't remember one game where he played well on the left, obviously there are a few but not enough.
  12. On Soccer AM a few years back they did an interview with a Newcastle player (I think it was Duff) and they asked who is the worst trainer at the club. He said that it was easily Enrique, so for no other reason other than that, I'd had have doubts about his temperament as he has looked ok whenever I have seen him. Not world class but ok.
  13. He tries flicks tricks etc. to "put the ball through the eye of a needle". It does not work a lot of the time so maybe kenny feels he does not really suit a pass and move type of game. Besides this, he does not offer very much else in terms of work rate and game intelligence so he seems to me to be surplus to requirements.
  14. I said in the Chelsea thread before the game that the last time we played an Ancelotti team that played a diamond in midfield was in Istanbul and Rafa changed to a 3-6-1 at ht and matched them in midfield, put a runner (Gerrard) on Pirlo and they could not handle it. It was not until Ancelotti brought on Serginho for a bit of width that they got back on top with us having to move Stevie back to RB to mark him. 3 at the back is ideal to play against a diamond but we'll have to see how it will do against 3 up top.
  15. Leyton Orient is the nearest club to the stadium and are threatening legal action if either club move in on them as it's an FA rule that it would be moving within a certain distance radius of another club.
  16. Delighted the thread has not descended into the usual, can't forgive him, he wrecked the bootroom, the club and as one fella said once, did more than anyone else to knock us off our perch. Maybe the united feeling around the club has calmed us all.
  17. 1st time to start a thread but felt it worthy. He is on Goals on Sunday at the moment. He initially spoke superbly about how the club was run and the great times he had when playing and how he is still a Liverpool supporter. He then went on to explain his events about the feature in the rag on the anniversary. He said whenever it's brought up that noone feels worse than him, that it hurts and it's something he has to live with. He also went on to say that he got out of hospital the day before the cup final in '92, and travelled alone in taxis and by plane to the hotel near London. He said the writing was on the wall then as people at the club were pulling away from him even then. A good and honest insight into a former hero of mine. Hard to forget the bad days with him but very easy to remember the very very good times.
  18. Are you really comparing going to a movie theatre to watch a movie that was filmed probably more than twelve months before to watching a watching a football match at Anfield? Do you really think that people the world over, talk admiringly about your local cineplex? Football is played in the present, in the here and now. Cinema is a choreographed re-enactment of a story. If a player makes a mistake, his team, his manager, his fans all suffer. If an actor makes a mistake they shout "cut" and go to take 2. Don't compare the two. Jeez!!
  19. I have friends who are reds and our opinions differ on how the club was and is run, about whose fault this and that was, and who was good, bad and downright ugly. Sometimes those opinions differ massively. However, it never turns into a scenario where we are calling each other a shithouse, cunt, weirdo etc and absolutely never does it result in one asking another to meet for a for a fight to demonstrate how big a shithouse the other one is/isn't. Fans will have different opinions, can we not respect them? Former players and managers will have them too. Unless they disrespected the club when they were here or afterwards, can we not respect those opinions and discuss them rather than have a page long to and fro which nobody wants to see. I don't post much here but browse a lot (probably a bit too much for my sanity) but the two of ye seem good lads and valuable posters to the site. If ye want to carry on then do so by PM or better yet meet up in the Tapas bar and share of glass of rioja.
  20. I think Ancelotti will go with a diamond in midfield with Anelka at the tip of it and Drogba up front with Kalou or our former no.9. This is what he did v Sunderland midweek and the formation he played in Istanbul (and his favoured formation) and it was not until we went 3 at the back that we were able to deal with it. I'd go with Pepe Skrtel Kyrgi Agger Kelly Lucas Johnson Gerrard Meireles Suarez Kuyt The only problem is that they could change it to a 433 very easily and that could leave us with a problem with 3v3 at the back
  21. Exactly what I was going to say but put better. Plastic fans that will be forgotten about soon enough.
  22. Brilliant. Seriously though, people need to recognise that he is a Liverpool player and has done nothing to disrespect the club or the fans since he came here. He has not played as well as he would have liked but he does not deserve some of what he has been subjected to since he came here. He seems a good pro and Kenny seems to rate him enough to start games so can we lay off him please.
  23. He said that Kenny was a great player and has managed a massive club. I just wondered if he was was he insinuating that he was not a great manager. Other than that I have no problem with what he said.
  24. To be honest I just think that Torres is telling Pepe about the incident with the Wolves CH (Berra I think) and letting know how he felt about him. Not condoning his actions in the past week though.
