  1. Maybe my memory is playing tricks with me but the BBC had a guy on the Wimbledon bus on the way to the game, as they did at the time, and Beasant was asked what he would do if Aldo got a pen. He blatantly said that Aldo always went to the keepers left after the stutter, if the keeper didn’t go early, and that Beasant was going to wait and then go left. Maybe the BBC didn’t play that bit before the game, but it is still mad that the keeper told the world what he would do, and then did it, and made the biggest/most famous penalty save in English football history (at the time).
  2. Enjoyed that, thanks lads. One thing I can never get my head around is why the Premier League cannot enforce an immediate punishment on City for not submitting accounts (since 2018, I think). Surely they should not allow them enter the league if they haven’t abided by the rules. I am presuming that it is a rule, otherwise why the fuck would Everton or Forest have submitted theirs for the past few years?
  3. Who is shitting on Spurs? Everthing I wrote is factually correct. Spurs have played 21 games in the league and are on 40 points. They are 5th, on course for a 72 point season, but they are being talked about as if they are 1970 Brazil. I've seen 7 of their players listed in people's Team of the Season so far. It's probably because they are from London and have the journos talking them up, but even the YouTube kids are doing the same. Postecoglu is being talked up as if he has transformed the fortunes of Spurs. At this stage last season, under Conte they were just one point worse off. Yes, the style is nicer to watch but that is just Spurs reverting to type. Easy-on-the-eye football, win some, get giddy, lose some, finish 5th. Aston Villa have not had a fraction of the positive coverage that Spurs have had and the comparisons on "under the radar" Liverpool are just funny. As if we don't have multiple PL, CL winners in our squad and the best manager in world football. Fuck Spurs
  4. Yep. A last minute win against a team that lost five of their previous six league games, and now the league has been wrapped up already.
  5. They were missing two defenders for only 6 of the above games. They had a full choice for 2 of them (lost one, drew one) and were missing just one defender for 3 of them. Romero was out for just of the 6 games, 3 of which were a suspension for being sent off for a stupid challenge. Just because Ange chose to play Davies and Emerson ahead of Bayern Munich's 49 cap England international, Eric Dier at centre back, is his prerogative, but most top teams have been missing at least two defenders for a lot of the season.
  6. Spurs last 11 games: Chelsea - lost 4-1 Wolves - lost 2-1 Villa - lost 2-1 Man City - drew 3-3 West Ham - lost 2-1 Newcastle - won 4-1 Forest - won 2-2 Everton - won 2-1 Brighton - lost 4-2 Burnley - won 1-0 Man United - drew 2-2 So they have beaten 19th, 17th, 15th and 10th place Newcastle (the worst performing team in the league) since the end of October. But because they played better than his beloved Manchester United, that are 13th in the league for home form, but still only managed a draw, Gary Neville thinks they will pick up approx 45 points in their next 17 league games and finish 2nd in the league behind Manchester City. He also thinks Arsenal will win the league so plenty of mathematical gymnastics by Nevile Neville's eldest son, in his predictions for this season.
  7. Presuming, we aren't blatantly robbed of a point (or even three) in the second half of the season, we are on course for 86 (88) points.
  8. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-transfer-kylian-mbappe-wages-31870166 States here that he would want £64.5m pa after tax. If this was gross, then it wouldn't be an extraordinary outlay- He is a free agent so it would be similar to a £200m signing on £500k pw, on a 5 year contract. The whole, not paying tax thing, means this will never happen. That and he wants to play for Madrid
  9. Loads of the cunts in St. James Park this evening. Loads of them
  10. Favourites in the League Cup and Europa. 2nd favourites in the FA cup and Premier League behind City.
  11. Arsenal were excellent in the first half of last season. They had 50 points after 19 games, with 16 wins, 2 draws and just 1 defeat. Since then, they have played 39 league games. They have won just 22, drawn 8 and lost a whoping 9 of those 39 games. Over the course of a full season plus, they are showing the form of a 3rd placed team. The start of last season is the anomaly. It is not just their poor Christmas or their lack of a centre forward or Havertz or anything else specifically. It's all of it added up. This is who Arsenal are, in my opinion. Better than the rest but not as good as the top 2.
  12. If you count Gomez as a right back, Quansah as a senior player and Elliott as a forward then you have cover for every position. Granted, long-term injuries to Thiago and Matip have reduced the depth but we have the deepest squad in the league in terms of quality and quantity. No other club in the league could field two teams as strong as: Alisson TAA Matip VVD Robertson Szoboszlai Mac Allister Jones Salah Nunez Diaz Kelleher Gomez Konate Quansah Tsimikas Thiago Endo Gravenberch Elliott Jota Gakpo with Adrian, Bajcetic, Bradley and Doak as backup. It probably suits Klopp that Matip and Thiago are nearing the end of their contracts and they are the two with serious injury issues and play in the positions that need strengthening the most. You would expect a midfielder and defender in the summer. The club are a bit slow to cover every eventuality but we have had decent (theoretically) cover for every position for 3 years now.
  13. 100% VVD, Robertson, Tsimikas, Thiago, Endo, Bajcetic, Szoboszlai, Salah and Doak were missing yesterday and all are due back in February. If we keep the injuries to a normal level and there aren't sufficient games from then until May, we will have unhappy players on the fringes and won't have enough games to keep the squad game ready when called upon. Klopp likes rhythm, but also the ability to rotate during and between games. We have a big enough squad to do that barring the plague.
  14. I think that counts all chances, even if in the same attack, so they got close to 1.0 for the attack where they hit the bar because of the 2 other chances in the same move
  15. We hit the bar twice, they hit it once. The OG also doesn’t count as a shot. They had 18 shots, 5 on target. We had 12 shots, 3 on target. Include the crossbar and the OG, as on target and it's: Arse 18 shots, 6 on target. Liverpool 13 shots, 6 on target. Were their chances any better than ours? They had 54% possession. Not exactly dominant there either. They started well, turned us over high up the pitch a couple of times but didn’t really test Alisson from them. After that, the game was even and we definitely had the better chances in the second half. Toothless v Ruthless
  16. https://x.com/FootballJOE/status/1744017611203957114?s=08 Dave's boy (or one of them) just scored this beauty
  17. March 1985 - Grandstand/Football Focus/Saints & Greavsie or one of those, did a profile the morning of the game on the gap since their previous win at Anfield. They started it with a story on the Titanic so I presume it was 73 years.
  18. Milwall - cunts Bolton - shithole Allardyce cunts
  19. 9 unavailable Matip Tsimikas Robertson Bajcetic Endo Thiago Szoboszlai Salah Doak
  20. Could we have a fully fit squad (minus Matip) after Salah and Endo return from the internationals? Survive the next 4-5 weeks and it could be a humdinger of a season
