I disagree, if many of the players abovementioned played for other sides, they would not be rated highly at all. 1 Skrtel is an established centreback for Slovakia!!! - they have a talented crop of players to pick from, don't they? Besides that, Heinze is an international centreback - so what's your point? I am sure he will improve with age but my gripe is that he is average at best - i dont think he is a particularly good defender and the only people that rate him are some Reds. As i said, he can't head yet he is 6'4, his passing is abysmal and he fouls all the time. Agger and him may be different but there didn't seem to be a problem when Agger partnered Carragher so my point is get Agger into the team for Martin. 2. Insua is learning the trade, i agree, that's why he needs to be eased in, and i am sure Aurelio will be the number 1 soon again. But i doubt Insua will develop into anything but a decent fullback - not enough pace for my liking. 3 Lucas is crap, everyone knows it - mediocre player - adds little to nothing. 4. Kuyt has all those qualities but they only get you so far and in many matches he can look ineffective and we consequently look impotent down the right unless Johnson is up there. Babel has his issues but look at the cameos against West Ham and Fiorentina he beat the full backs and put in a crosses. Kuyt didn't get behind the fullback all game. I am not saying he doesn't have his worth but he poses little to no threat, the odd goal doesn't justify him being a regular for me. Now for the patience comment you made! All the above players have been with us for 2 or more seasons - so how long will you wait! Kuyt will never develop control or speed, Lucas had had 70 plus matches to impress yet he has had may be 3 good games and 5 average ones, which Rafa and some have chosen to describe as excellent. I wonder what superlatives they must use for Gerrard and Torres then? Skrtel has never impressed against top forwards in my book.

You'll probably get a lot of stick for this but i agree, Liverpool fans overrate mediocrity. 1. Skrtel has never impressed me and for some reason people think he is hard - not at all. He cant pass, head and is so naive in the tackle it's beyond belief. Agger is a better player! 2. Insua is a decent full back but not good enough to start, as you said his final ball is woeful and he got destroyed by an average right midfielder. 3. Lucas is crap everyone knows it, it has got to the point that when he performs decently people proclaim that he was excellent. He wouldn't get near Manu, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs central midfields - squaddie at best. 4. For all Kuyt workrate and ability to get vital goals, he too often offers nothing in the terms of penetration, he can't beat men and this is why Johnson is forced to attack even more. that coupled with no pace and poor ball control makes him a very frustrating player. Babel may not get the goals but when he has been on the right of late he has offered more than Kuyt in terms of getting assists or pushing the full back back. However, i believe we will give Chelsea a good game but Rafa needs to see the deficiences eventually in these players and make the step up.

Skrtel is not very good, the sooner Agger is fit the better. Skrtel was just horrible today, he decided to stay down injured when we were defending desperately then got up when we had the ball and got no treatment. He cant pass, head and is just prone to stupid challenges - drop him. Lucas was shocking in the first half, its clear we need a passer in there, Aurelio is not a central midfield player. I would start Babel on the right as at least he can beat a man, kuyt was poor and ineffetive as usual, loads of workrate but no end product as usual!

Lucas has given the ball away on every occassion. Aurelio centre mid - rafa is joking right! Yossi and Kuyt have offered 0, no pace or skill! Centrebacks are just shit, Skrtel should be dropped just a brute!

Yossi, Kuyt and Riera have to all step it up. we need another goal as we are liable to concede a second with our inept defence.

Carragher is just dreadful, his decline has been there for all to see for a while now. Skrtel has no distribution and is simply too rash, he concedes too many free kicks. Zonal marking!!!!!! like it or hate it we are all in consensus that when we concede a corner we are likely to concede! Pathetic

Whats the feeling on Torres i think he has looked out of sorts all so far this season, i know he has three goals which is testament to his quality but he just seems to be losing the ball a lot and falling over and just lying there. Thoughts?

Its a shame and it is also a wake up call for rafa to man manage his players better, i am just glad we didn't let him go for the feeble amount of 14 million the season before! The only thing those americans have done is thrash out a good agreement when selling him, obviously they had a vested interest!

Lucas is no way better than Mikel and Diaby though erratic has shown more quality than Lucas. I also think Anderson is better but he has admittedly gone off the boil. Lucas does a job but he has just too many flaws in his game; concedes too many fouls in dangerous areas and just cannot shift the ball at any real pace, he just plays square. Fourth choice player for me.

They have a very good squad, i dont understand why people are so deluded by saying their players are shit, have they not seen our bench? We have one good striker at the club.

Obviously my post was worthy of that abuse, grow up. I will spell it out to you if a player wants to go to a certain club then the team involved have no choice but to accept a lower valuation. This indeed happened when Crouch was wanted by Sunderland and someone else but he didn't want to move north so Portsmouth were forced to accept the lower bid from Spurs and that was from Peter Storrie's mouth! Plus, with Johnson we went in first before Man City and Chelsea. Who is the dipstick now?

If we were signing Niko for 2 mill everyone on here would be going wax lyrical. We could buy 3 Nikos for what we spent on Lucas, the same price we paid for Josemi. he is a quality player and would certainly add more to the team than Babel or EL zhar! Harry is shrewd and we aren't the yanks may have pocketed most of our transfer budget but we certainly have overpaid for aquilani and as good as johnson is i think we got mugged at that price considering the way Pompey have been selling of their other players.

Its an absolutre joke, spurs have a better squad than us now. Niko at that price is a steal. This is the sort of player we need, i cant understand why rafa doesn't try and secure some loan players as well, players like quaresma will do a better job than some of the players we have on our bench. Liverpool football club is a real shambles in terms of its transfer policy. Aquilani was overpriced and as good as johnson is if spurs were negotiating they would not have paid 17.5 million. the only great thing we have done is securing 30 million for Alonso.

Once again the manner in which they tried to walk it in was pathetic, not the players!!! i do not see what you are struggling to grasp there. Well, you can support his inclusion in the team, i believe we are stronger without him as he just cant shift the ball at any real pace and this is patently obvious when Gerrard drops deep and does it and the team look a lot better so cutting him out serves importance to me. We created chances but they were down to 10 men, what really counts is the scoreline and not the shots on goal you have as was shown against Villa.

1) dropping Lucas is not a kneejerk reaction to this performance, its an observation in how it will help our team line up better. 2) i called their attempt to walk the ball into the goal pathetic, which it was - they should have just killed it off without the fancy antics!

We were lucky if they had 11 men i think we may have got a draw at best, we simply need to stop conceding stupid goals. Carras decline is for all to see, Agger needs to have a sustained period of fitness as this will help the deep passing aspect of our team. I also think aurelio is much better than Insua at supplying balls into the box as well. All in all not very impressed with liverpool, if we play chelsea, arsenal, manu or city in this form we will be thrashed!

Drop Lucas and play Benni in the hole. Gerrard should revert back to the centre. Funny that Torres has 3 goals and has been in poor form really. The defence is a major concern 7 goals conceded already. Against better teams we will be in trouble. Anyone see when we tried to walk it in the goal, pure stupidity by our players, backheel after backheeel - pathetic. We need to step it up, that was awful!

I dont think we have ever been solid from set plays, look back at how many we have conceded especially against the top sides since zonal has been operated. the two in the champions league at home is effectively what knocked us out.

Not being ignorant mate, from open play may be but we concede too many goals from set pieces. 4 in 4 games!
