Reckon Madrid will make a bid of some kind shortly, probably round £40m ( I am convinced they are not in for Bale this season). We will refuse this. Then we'll see if Arsenal are serious about getting him. A bidding war would be good.

Have to agree...written off too quickly for me. Although we have no idea what he's like in training, he might not be able to defend the way Rodger's wants.

We're (approximately) half way through a storm of swords. Season 4 is the second half of the book.

Was he injured at all last season? He is a good defender, arguably our best, and there is no doubt he loves the club. He'd be the last defender I get rid of. Already dreaming about an Agger/Papadopoulos partnership.

Marca are the mouthpiece of Real Madrid and everyone knows it. If they are coming out and saying he's agreed personal terms, he has. Luis' agent is just protecting his client. If Real Madrid haven't made an official bid yet this is tapping up.

Possibly. But, Oldham debacle aside, I never really thought he was *that* bad at defending. Kolo Toure is not very good any more, and as it would probably be his last contract and he's on a free he would no doubt want a fairly hefty wage. If Coates wanted to stay (and I don't blame him if he doesn't) it's a no brainer for me....he can only get better; Toure can only get slower and fatter.

Caroll will pay for two forwards? That overestimates our negotiating skills quite substantially I think! Can't see us getting more than £10m for him. I still think we should try and get Diame thrown in with deal if they haven't got much cash to pay with.
