  1. Great game to watch. Celtic fans showing City what a European night atmosphere is all about.
  2. I didn't realise Randall had been switched to the left. I assumed that Randall being left out for this one meant some involvement for him against Derby whereas I had assumed it would be Alexander Arnold.
  3. I'm surprised Alexander-Arnold has fallen behind Randall in the pecking order, seemed a better prospect to me.
  4. Coutinho had a great game in this fixture last year so I wouldn't be surprised to see him come in and Sturridge drop to the bench. I'd be tempted to bring Can in and push Henderson forward at the expense of Wijnaldum. Lovren for Lucas, obviously. And Karius for Mignolet.
  5. I have no idea whether Wolfsburg would do business or whether Rodriguez would want to come. It'll be interesting to see whether we get someone else in now that we have the cash from Benteke. My guess is that we won't and Klopp is happy with what he's got, or at least he doesn't think he can get anyone he wants more. I say this because FSG haven't been afraid to spend first and sell later in the past. The only scintilla of hope is that maybe there's someone perfect out there who was beyond our budget unless we got rid of Benteke. I'm not holding my breath though.
  6. I would be delighted if we overpaid for Rodriguez.
  7. No it wasn't. Edit - dammit. Comedy and timing etc.
  8. This game looks made for Sturridge. Slow tempo, well organised defence and we're not committing much going forward. We need someone to create a few chances out of nothing now.
  9. I'd have had Allen starting. I said to my 10 year old that I wasn't sure about Klopp's selection and he said "yeah, but to be fair he's a world class manager and your a stay at home dad".
  10. Great report, as usual. Judging by Klopp's reaction when asked about the goal, I'd be very surprised if Bogdan started another game for Liverpool.
  11. Unless we recruit this window - and it looks like that's not happening - then I think that we have no chance at all of making the top four. We just don't have the quality and the players won't be able to put that kind of shift in on a consistent basis. That sounds really negative but I'm a lot more positive than I was before this game. I gave us no chance at all of winning this, I just couldn't see how it could be done. Now, I think we really could give anyone a game on our day and that bodes well for the UEFA cup or whatever it's called. Also, Firmino looked like a player who might start scoring one day.
  12. He could keep the same salary and play at a lower level, with Liverpool paying the difference; it happens all the time. The fact is that he prefers to be paid and not to play. I can kind of understand it but he deserves no respect.
  13. Coutinho scoring right at the very end of the first half was perfect but what I liked most was that he took that shot with his left foot. Ever since he's scored a few from outside the box with his right everyone has been trying to close him down and force him onto his left, just like Ramires did when he slid in. Now he's shown he can do it on either side he'll be that much harder to stop. When he first came he couldn't shoot with either foot, so you can bet that came from hours and hours of practice on the training ground. Moreno should get off his skateboard and take a look.
  14. "Cunt-off" is a perfect description and the kind of quality reporting you just can't find in the national press.
  15. I'm sure I remember Rodgers saying that he set out to win every game. We obviously went there with the sole intention of trying to sneak a draw. I'm ok with that in theory, if only because of how easily we've been beaten by the top teams previously. Lots of mid table teams do it when they play away. However, there are three things that the mid table sides seem to be able to do which Liverpool under Rodgers cannot. 1 defend properly, particularly from set pieces. 2 counter attack 3 offer some kind of threat from set pieces Other than that, everything is fine with our away strategy. It's just the home form that's a worry.
  16. He had good movement, for a caged lion.
  17. Really good report, agree with all of that. In a sea of putrescent awfulness, the biggest, smelliest floater was the change to three at the back. It's obvious that it completely failed and that nobody knew what they were doing, but even if it had been a well practised plan, what could it possibly have achieved? Yesterday when Swansea went one down, Garry Monk brought an extra striker on and was rewarded with two goals. It isn't fucking rocket science and if he can do it when playing against Manchester United we should be able to against West Ham.
  18. Just seen that Zaha's pass completion in the first half was 57%. Considering he should be at 50% when blindfold, that's quite poor.
  19. Breakfast Lunch Supper I seem to be in the minority on this thread.
