Andy Johnson when linked with liverpool was a short arsed twat who was only good in the championship. How does everyone know that the Yanks are holding back on the money? Rafa isn't the sort of manager who would splash out more than neccessary on a player if he didn't think he was worth it. I was just wondering who you lads thought was going to get a game in midfield next season. Assuming we sign Babel, who would you all play? I'd choose: Babel (left mid) Mascherano (defensive centre) Alonso (attacking centre) Gerrard (right mid) which leaves Pennant, Sissoko, Leiva, Kewell and Leto on the bench. Shit we've got a good midfield!

yeah i know what you mean mate, i just dont think its the liverpool way to buy 5 or six top players. Historically we shop at Asda instead of Harrods, eg Bellamy and Pennant last season. I can almost see David Moores and Rick Parry doing the ASDA arse slap now.....Hopefully this method of buying unproven players will change with the Yanks, they have beaten our previous record buy by £8m+ so hopefully we will see a winger (looking like Babel) and a left back in before the start of the season. I dont think we will get an attacking midfielder because we already have four top central midfielders (Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano & Lucas Leiva) but a Riquelme type creative player would be brilliant but I would rather see Leiva develop into that role instead of buying somebody that is 28-29? and who caused problems with the management at both barcelona and villareal http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riquelme

I think this is getting a bit carried away. We haven't got Riquelme Milito or Quaresma and I can't see us spending another however many million it would take to get them after the money Rafa has already spent. Oh well, shit happens. Just because you go out and buy loads of players doesnt mean your team improves. Just look at chelsea last season after they bought Ballack and Shevchenko who were shit hot at the time. The team werent as good after they bought them though. Just look West Ham after they "bought" Tevez and Mascherano, they went shit........ The mancs have a very average defence. Especially when ferdinand is injured. Scholes is way past his best as are Giggs and Neville. Nani and Anderson are unproven at a high level (remember Klebersen, Veron and Djemba Djemba? they were meant to be amazing aswell) so the future is unsure for the mancs. I hope! Hopefully that little shite ronaldo will go back to the shite player he was before last year (cant see it though).

I dont think Tevez has proved that he's as good as people are making out. He looked like a decent player in a shite team towards the end of last season but I think it is fucking ridiculous to mention him in the same breath as Dalglish. He had a worse goal record than Crouch (tevez 7 league goals, 1 every 257 minutes played, Crouch 9 league goals, 1 every 176 minutes played). I can see why people think he is a very good young player, but I think it is very harsh on Torres to say that we've signed the wrong player. Torres got 14 for Athletico, Ok it was in La Liga but it's still 14 goals. For the people who think you cant compare LaLiga stats with FAPL, take the international records of both players. Tevez only has 25 caps and has only scored 4 goals. (goal every 0.16 games) Torres has 42 caps and has 14 goals. (goal every 0.33 games) These two players are the same age, but Torres is a proven international player (comparitively) and I for one think he is an excellent signing.

I dont think alonso will play many games next season if his form doesnt improve. Last season he played 51 games and only got 4 goals and hardly any assists. On the premier league Opta stats he doesnt even get in the top ten midfielders, comes in at a miserable 63rd in the league (this includes players from all positions). The numbers dont lie as they say..... Steve finnan was rated as the best defender in the league, Pepe was in the top five goalies and dirk was up amongst the top ten strikers

I don't think It's a bad thing playing more friendlies than usual...Rafa isnt gonna play the first team players more than enough to get them fit is he? I cant see Gerrard, Carra etc playing every game and it will be a good way of introducing new signings into the side
